Whoa! To say this tea was a strong start to the day would be an understatement! Full-bodied, earthy, malty, and tannic- do NOT oversteep this! I need to try this again steeped for a shorter time.

First sip tastes like bitter mushrooms. As it cools it gets slightly less bitter, more malty and tannic. The earthy mushroom flavor stays and it gets sweeter. Some honey tones start to come out. Surprisingly though, it doesn’t leave me with a really dry mouth.

I’m wishing I had some milk or something to add to this tea because it could definitely use it. Maybe I can find my co-worker’s secret stash of honey since she’s not in yet? I don’t keep sweeteners at work.

Bitter mushrooms? :(

Yup! Mushroom earthiness, but bitter. Might make a good band name though! Now introducing The Bitter MUSHROOMS!

Now that I think about, it makes me want to eat pickled mushrooms while drinking this to compare.

I run, I sing, I drink tea. That’s the best description I have of me.

I’ve always enjoyed tea, but have just started trying out a lot more loose teas and varied brands. I’m really excited about a site like steepster so I can read about what people think about different teas.

Oh and I really hate Lipton tea. There’s something just awful about it and I can’t understand why nearly every local diner only has Lipton.

Also I’m on the search for a full-bodied, fruity blackberry tea. So if you have any suggestions feel free to throw them my way! :-)
