2904 Tasting Notes

First cup steeped to a deep ruby-mahogany color. Light texture; dark flavor. Initial sip made me think, “Coffee?” Not exactly; more like dark rye or pumpernickel.
Will definitely appeal to tea-in-hobnail-boots lovers.
So what were you doing 28 years ago today? We had just washed the Just Married shoe polish off the Buick, jettisoned a few balloons and streamers along Highway 54 and eaten our first meal as a married couple: chili dogs at the Sonic in El Dorado Springs, Missouri.
Our anniversary lunch today was a trifle classier (Italian at Johnny Carino’s), but other than that it’s been a decadently lazy day puttering at home, ironing, and watching a DVD of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel nabbed cheap at Dollar General. Part of developing a lifetime relationship is learning to love being companionably boring together.
Sorry. Tea.
Heavy lunch needed a nice, light counterpart. This is. A sweet melange of fruitiness. Raspberry really needs equal time in the title, but Pomegranate Grape Raspberry Green is a little long—you can only fit so much on a label.

To answer your question 28 years ago today I was either at a friends house, visiting my grandparents, or possibly my mother and I were out on one of her pick a direction and drive adventure in the countryside. That year I had the infamous ‘harridan teacher’ of my school. I never had a huge problem with her other than having more homework than I ever had again (including university and high school). A lot of people transferred out of the school early in order to avoid having her again.
Congrats! 28 years ago my wife and I were living in a mobile home in my parents back yard. No kids at the time.
I used to see older married couples sitting silently in a restaurant and I thought that meant they couldn’t stand each other. Now I completely understand and better yet I now have a term to describe it!
Although I don’t seem to be able to pronounce “companionably” , I totally agree with that statement. Once the newness of a relationship wears off a little & you really get to know the person you’re with, with all their idiosyncrasies & baggage, it really boils down to that.
Do you know what a blessing it is to sit outside on a deliciously cool morning and drink a whole quiet cuppa before having to start the day? Maybe you do.
Just a personal seasonal thing, but milk doesn’t show up in the morning tea until fall…a cool front finally made it feasible this morning, and this tea was made for dairy. Smooth and strong, even with half-and-half.
Chrysanthemum has a very strong flavor—not unpleasant; but it’s opinionated. Knowing that, I tossed a pinch of peppermint white tea in the mix when making a cuppa this evening. (Operating on the mint-makes-everything-better theorem.)
It’s gonna take a larger mint-to-mum proportion to drown out the stemmy flavor, but it’s still a palate-cleansing change of pace after a day with too much junk food.
Second experience with this as easygoing as the first. Cold steeped in the fridge and enjoying it iced. The extended soak gives the keemun time to come out, so it’s a little richer, but still has a candy flavor to it. But not chemically.
Wishing this had come my way a little earlier in the season—it’s very springy-summery in personality. Wonder what a cinnamon stick would do to it…
This one is going to take some thought and experimentation. Started the morning with 4 pearls to a 16 oz cup—maybe one more next time. First sip of the first steep and I wasn’t getting much flavor, just a thick, rich texture. As it cools, however, we’re getting something smoky, cedar-y, and a little sweet.
Good morning, Terriharplady and thanks for the chance to try this. Taking a couple days off work (too many weeks in overdrive) to tend to house/home, kith/kin, paperwork/piddling…so there may be a little time to think on this one some more.
I quite like this one from other vendors, and I hope this will be tasty too! The last one I tried had more of a malty flavor than smoky.
i have this one waiting for me to finish off some other teas… i think terri was responsible for me wanting this one, lol.
Thanks for writing up the review! We have exactly 4 ounces left of this tea after a gentleman bought up a ton of them today! We are unable to buy this tea as the producer did not make them this year. We are hoping that they will make them next year as our customers love them. We did just get in a shipment of blossoming black tea (they are cone shaped) from a producer I visited last April in China. They are quite nice. We just put them up on the site under black tea.

A work friend brought this to me, acquired on a trip to Washington D.C. The bag actually says “Cherry Blossom Tea” with a different label, but comparable description leads me to believe it’s the same thing. I will gladly stand corrected.
At any rate, this is kinda tasty for a bagged gift tea. A keemun and cherry blend; the cherry has a very sweet cotton-candy vibe. Not getting a lot of keemun, but it was made sloppily, bag-in in a microwave. Thrown over ice, it flies as a decent dessert tea.
