drank Princess Earl Grey by Teaopia

I really enjoyed the white part of this one! not so much with the bergamot… ick. It made me slightly nauseous but it was bearable.
The white was nice and sweet, and light which balanced out the blechy bergamot. I’m glad to have tried it though.
For a normal tea, this would get a relatively low rating but for an “earl” tea it should be pretty high! so I’m opting to keep it in the middle :)

I expected to love this tea. I wanted to love it!! and… I love Canada… but well, I do not love this tea, though not for lack of it being well put together.
It does taste like maple syrup, and not in an overwhelming way but that, and rooibos is about all I get out of it. I find the creme brule much more satisfying somehow. Lighter and less abrasive in the back of my throat. It’s almost like drinking maple syrup! only diluted, about ten times.
Oh well!

nomadinjeopardy

Yeah, I’ve been liking this one with some form of milk lately. I think it balances it out a bit better than plain.

Daddyselephant

You are a terrible Canadian. You must leave Canada now. (joking, obviously)

Indigobloom

Jessie: I was wondering about how it’d taste with milk! but I dunno if it’s worth spending more money just to find out…
Ladykittykat: I know right?! sheesh, good thing there’s nobody auditing this stuff. I’ll make up for it by watching some hockey or being really polite I swear :P

loooooooove it!!
I think the other strawberry white DT has takes the top spot but this one is a very close second! it really does taste just like a Rhubarb crumble. Tart and cinnamony, with straw-rhubarb sweetness in between. AND somehow, the white still manages to peek it’s head out. How could they have ever retired this one… well atleast it’s back, for the moment.
Only tea could bring me back from my weekend funk!!! It was odd, like I existed on a different plan than everyone else (save one girl, who was friendly) at the cottage. Oh well, live’n learn.
mmmmmmm strawberry rhubarb crumble… makes it alll better :)
EDIT: As the cup cools, hibiscus is becoming more pronounced. It’s more tart and floral now and a little bit less crumbley. While still good, this lowers my rating just a tad.

Meh. Now, reverse osmosis water from the cottage may have impacted this one… but I think my initial impression of “Lover’s Leap” was prematurely ecstatic. That first day I tried it, I must have been in just the right mood… because it still rings those same raisin notes, but they just don’t “sing” to me like they did that first time.
This was purchased from a place in St. Lawrence Market, so I don’t really know if MTC was the distributor but either way this is my third ho-hum experience with this tea type. Makes me wonder what I was on that first day…

drank Winter White by Stash Tea

I don’t like ginger!! or mint! but despite that, this wasn’t terrible. At first, the white was more present, which I enjoyed, but it faded as the cup cooled. Ginger then became more dominant, from the beginning of the sip til the end and yet it was not overwhelming as I had expected. Meanwhile, mint hid somewhere in the middle, with white in the back.
Stash does an excellent job of blending flavours which is something I respect in a tea. Good job Stash!

Perhaps it was because this was the only decent tea option I had, but this one was quite tasty! Tart and green blended together nicely, though I couldn’t pick out any pomegranate. Definitely some raspberry.
This is the first green fruity tea that I’ve ever actually liked as well, so perhaps that is biasing my rating. That, and the reverse osmosis water did strange things to my regular red rose tea so who knows what it did with this!

almost forgot this one! lowering the rating because that other “chocolate note” tea was so much better and I found this one wore on me after some time. The second steep was more of the same.
If anyone would like to try this please let me know! I prefer darker, maltier teas and this one just isn’t any of those, though I do recognize it’s quality!

drank Banana Daiquiri by DAVIDsTEA

This was good!!!! banana and coconut, and honeybush spun up in a pina colada like whirlwind of yumminess. I feel this way about pretty much anything containing coconut so I’m not all that surprised. I’d love to have more of it, but that would be breaking my rule *sighs

Sorry for the short reviews. I’m all out of energy today and getting ready for the cottage tomorrow after work. See y’all Monday! maybe Tuesday. Happy Canada Day, and Happy Pride week! :)

MaddHatter

I call it “Banana Popcicle”!!! The students in my OSC love this one as a sun tea! and we’re gonna try a cold steep later on!

Indigobloom

I’ve never had sun tea. How is it different in flavour? I’m curious to try it now!

MaddHatter

There isn’t much of a difference, it just takes longer for the tea to steep.

Indigobloom

oh. hmm well I still would love to try it! not sure I have a jug that’s suitable. I have a new shopping mission! :)

The lady who served me promised this would be a bold tea! and it was… except it was also backed up by that fresh watery note that I rarely find in bold teas. There was very little astringency as well so I’m really unsure what this one was all about!
Overall, unmemorable if not for its oddness. I love the name though!

drank Whisky White by DAVIDsTEA
1759 tasting notes

After my last tea-scapade I needed something surefire to pick me up. and no surprise, this did the job! Two steeps and I was in heaven. See my previous notes for the reason why!
Only now I’m a bit traumatized… it’s been so long since I had a new yummy black tea, I’m feeling the burn man! (yes, I am an addict, and I don’t need help!)
I’m considering drastic measures here— Renting a Telus bike on my lunch hour tomorrow just to score some goods. ha! I’ll find that evasive wonder tea somewhere even if I get jitters trying!

Profile

Bio

Let’s see… I’m a tea and workout fanatic, I work in HR, and most of my friends consider me to be an egg. White on the outside, Asian on the inside :)
-from philosophy to food, I love it all
Otherwise, what you see is what you get! I can be very straightforward and yet shy.

Also, I’ve started taking tea sommelier classes and it is an absolute blast! Well, so far I’ve only finished the first out of eight courses, but I am really looking forward to the next one.

Anyhow, if your curious as to how I rate things, this is how I work…

0-25
Like eating dirt, or some other unsanitary indelicacy that mentioning in my profile here would likely get me banned.
I don’t think I’ve found cause to banish a tea to the wasteland yet though so who knows what it’d inspire ;P

25-50
You know that expression “Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater”? I imagine drinking that water would be terrible enough to warrant this rating!
I’d never make my enemy drink this, but perhaps I’d throw it at them. Good thing I don’t have any enemies!

50-70
This is “tea”?? I tried finishing the cup… but my body rejected it. There may be others who enjoy this tea, but it’s beyond me!

70-80
I tried liking it, and I can almost get there! I certainly don’t hate it, but something is holding me back. Allergies? Men in white suits? who knows… certainly not me!

80-90
Lovely tea! Not my all time fave but close. I likely wouldn’t repurchase, but may decide to based on many factors: price, accessibility, whether it fills a “tea gap”, medicinal applications, and how often I crave it.
Every once in awhile I find the sweet spot that bumps these up to 90+. Those are the days I need to buy a lotto ticket!

90-95
Sweet Camellia! this is realllly good tea! Don’t talk to me until I’ve finished my cup…

95-100
Tea of the gods. I would do anything to get my hands on more of this liquid gold!
