Sighs. Where have my coconut oolong loving ways gone? There was a time I adored this particular tea so much that I wished to share it with anyone willing to indulge.
Now? I revisit as a throwback to the good ol days but otherwise I am indifferent.
My how tastes change. I know this is still a delish tea. It’s smooth and sweet, slightly creamy with a hint of tang hidden underneath. The coconut is strong, but not overpowering (imo). So why did I stop adoring it so?
Oh tea lords, I want to love this one again! I really do.

I have so much tea in my cupboard, but this is all I want to drink!
Strong malty teas are my absolute fave and what got me into tea initially. They are my home <3
Sadly, I drank this cup up so fast that I forgot to note down any details. Again.
But hey that means I really, truly, undeniably enjoyed it :P

Oh yum! I only got a tiny pouch of this, but rest assured I will definitely buy more at some point. It’s minty, it’s chocolatey, it’s just like a peppermint patty!
I’ve had similar herbals that I always wished were more like this one, but always fell short in one way or another. Usually with the addition of artificial ingredients or some other unnecessary additive. or coconut.
I digress. If I had more in my cupboard at the moment this might just become a nighttime ritual for awhile. Sighs. One day! :D

I can’t believe I still have some of this left! I thought it was done ages ago with the great tea leak of 2013/14. (there were two)
But lo! there are a few sachets left!! I found it in an old bag that I used to take to meetings so it must have not been affected.
Anyhow. I am at my friend’s place now, and we were chatting while it steeped… for nearly fifteen min!!! so it ended up a tad bitter, just not nearly as much as I’d assumed it would be. With some milk, it was just fine. As the only tea I’ve had today I downed it faster than ever (for me). Ah well, I’m enjoying a beer now :)

AND seriously spot on with the candy flavour. Lately, I haven’t been so much into white teas but this here is a wonderful exception. Oh yes it is!
I love how complex the notes are. Mocha, a touch of caramel, white, shu, and that candy sweetness that pushes everything over the top. I kinda wish there was a tad more caramel depth. As for the hazelnut, I am not sure, but I think I can detect that as well? I can’t be sure.
That said, this is definitely something to pull out once in awhile. I can see myself enjoying this when company comes over or when my sweet tooth demands a little something :P

Yup. This is licorice. But GOOD licorice. Not the kind that makes me wince with that odd sweet aftertaste that I really cannot stand. So let’s talk about the good things in this one.
So far, I’ve had two cups. One plain, and another with milk and sugar.
Both are great, but guess what?? I know this is an amazing tea because I actually kinda prefer it bare! This is very rare for me when it comes to black tea, much less chai!!!
To be fair, I think an extra bunch of spices snuck into my spoon under some tea leaves when I made the second (milky) cuppa. It is possible that the next one will be a bit more mellow (after all, it doesn’t make sense that the dairy version would be more intense than the sans dairy!)
Anyhow. What I love about the blend when bare is how smooth it is! I swear it’s like drinking a super fine liquor that was distilled a hundred times. Some serious happy moments there.
Of course, this will be my once in awhile treat, because as much as I don’t mind the good licorice, I really want to continue loving this and not get overwhelmed with the flavour :)

At my friend’s place again and having this tea while I babysit the kiddos for an hour. No disasters yet! Maybe they are biding thier time before bringing out the chaos party :P
I am in a very strange mood today. Surrounded by people I adore, and yet distraught over a situation with another friend. I kinda wish I was in bed with my tea and a romantic comedy to distract me. Sighs.

Bah. This cuppa will do. And hey,there is no better distraction than two cheeky monkeys crawling all over me :)

Strawberry espresso cake?! OH MAN THIS IS AMAZING.
There is a campino candy element there as well, but the espresso balances things out perfectly. Another thing I like about it is the light texture. Given the nature of coffee, it could have been made into a thicker brew, and that may have been overwhelming for me.
It has been a very long time since I felt so moved by a tea… so I am definitely a happy sipper right now! This is my first steep though. I’m already looking forward to the second one :)
Ahhh sadness. Now that it’s cooling down a bit, I find the coffee a tad too strong. Next time I shall try adding a dollop of brown sugar as suggested!

I’m home! The comfort is much needed. What an awkward trip that was.
A friend of mine is going through a rough time and blames me for part of it (because I am not romantically interested). I feel terrible about it, but I just can’t date someone I have no feelings for. I’ve been there and no, they don’t “grow over time”, at least not for me. Even still… If it hurts me to see my friend go through what seems to be a deep, legit depression, I don’t want to imagine the suffering he is going through. So much frustration! I don’t know what to do about it (and still respect myself at the end of the day)

Anyhow, while we were in Ottawa, we stopped at a place called Tea Store. In the Market. A cute little shop with all sorts of pots and mugs on display. They sold loose tea as well, mostly from Metropolitan, but also Kusmi and a few other brands.
Unfortunately, only the Metropolitan Teas were available by the cup, so I settled for this one. Lately, I’ve been craving Yunnans every now and then, but not enough for me to keep any in my cupboard. Well, maybe a few cups worth, but certainly not in the minimum purchase amount I’d have to buy.
So yeah, this cuppa really hit my craving. Or it would have if the mood hadn’t been so melancholy.
It was sweet like honey, or maybe honeysuckle, with an edge of hay or straw. Dusty sunshine! A little complex, which I love.
I also really enjoyed the smoothness. However it was a tad thick, and heavy. Sadly, that is the part that makes me pause, and not indulge very often. Ah well, it really is great once in awhile!!

How is it that I had to add this one to the database?! Has no one really reviewed sencha from Davids??? really?! I wonder if it’s a glitch.

Anyhow, I took this one camping with me because a friend asked for green tea and I didn’t have much in my cupboard for sharing. I historically dislike sencha, so I wasn’t too bothered either way having it in my cupboard.
Except… well then I had a cuppa and it was suprisingly tasty. I actually enjoyed sencha, for the first time in pretty much ever. My preferences must be changing. Interesting.
Something about the grass texture is rather pleasing.
