Regarding the Jan. 2014 pressing of this tea: From a sample, this is a lovely, sweet tasting, slightly astringent, citrus tinged, loosely pressed tea of subtlety and grace. Should age well. I ordered more after this taste.

A full flavored sheng pu-erh this sample features robust leaves with a light orange soup, pronounced, long lasting flavors (my wife says “spicy”) which I think are a bit intense at the moment, but will be interesting to follow over time. A good, interesting treat.

Quite a nice young sheng pu-erh it has a pleasant alfalfa like green taste with a hint of depth and a touch of astringency and a hint of orchid and melon smell/taste on the finish. Very pleasant to my taste for a young sheng. I look forward to watching its development.

This is a lovely ripe pu-erh still available on Amazon.com and direct from bana teas in Feb. 2014. Tea brews a beautiful dark mahogany color with hints of orange, taste is extremely mellow/gentle with a touch of woodsy and earthy taste highlighted by citrus notes. I has an overall sense of balance and is what I would consider to be “lovely”. I just ordered a cake after tasting this sample.

This tea is from a sample sent by Misty Peak Teas. This tea brewed in a 185 ml yixing teapot was a light orange colored soup, had some citrus hints and a touch of orchid aroma, and was fairly smooth, but felt closed in by astringency on the back of my tongue. Hard to evaluate this young, I enjoyed the orange citric flavor and smoothness, but found its ageworthiness difficult to evaluate because of its astringent youth. Judgement reserved.

This young sheng has a nicely balanced demeanor, gives strong astringency and a tannic impression with aromas of oat straw, and chlorophyll. It has a strong character to my taste, one which says it will age well. I agree that it has slight smoky notes on its lengthy finish, but do not get the honey notes mentioned. It would be nice to see where this tea goes with time. Right now, I say not outstanding but good.

This is a quiet, mellow tea to my taste buds with gentle flavors of tobacco, earth, and citrus. It really does go well after a meal as suggested by Bana Tea. I’ve enjoyed the tea through multiple steepings.

This tea is elegant, fragrant, fresh, and easy to drink. Very enjoyable. The tea is tightly rolled in the beginning, and expands dramatically after several steepings to show rather lovely whole leaves. I like this tea.

From a sample – quite a lovely golden color, with a flavor that has mellowed over time. It tastes a hint minty and earthy at the same time. Drinking quite well in early 2013.
