So my partner just made his morning cream of earl grey after using the steeper for luscious watermelon last night, and it tastes like cream of luscious watermelon!

Kittenna

Is that a good or bad thing?!

TassieTeaGirl

Well it was actually quite tasty, but the other half was a bit confused I think. He just wanted a cream of earl grey and wasn’t expecting anything else!

Kittenna

Hahaha, poor guy!

TheTeaFairy

Funny! I might just try that, love them both!

TassieTeaGirl

We didn’t clean the steeper out after using it for luscious watermelon, just left the tea bits in there then hot water rinsed it the following morning, if that helps!

I got a sample of this in my last DT order, along with tropicalia and strawberry shortcake. Decided to brew it last night and ice it to go with the Friday night fish and chips, was even generous enough to share it with the other half (not that I would’ve got away with it, he loves watermelon).

Scent : wow. You could not confuse this as anything but a watermelon infusion! The smell just smacks you in the face!

Liquor: the sample I had was pretty pale. I steeped it twice and got 2 small glasses out of each (each was about half a DT iced tea take out cup), but only the first glass of the first steep was anything close to pink, and a much more paler one than I’ve come to expect from something like forever nuts. The final glass was almost clear.

Taste: wow, just as watermelonly as the smell. Even right at the end when the tea itself was almost clear it ws still watermelon all the way.

Will definitely be getting some of this for summer when it eventually rolls around.

Ended up steeping the leaves for a fourth time. A milder taste by this steeping, perhaps a bit more milky than oolongy? Still delish!

drank Chocolate Cake by DAVIDsTEA

Wow! Yummo! I don’t actually have any of this myself, a friend got some in my last order so I naturally demanded a cup. It tastes just like the basic, old school chocolate cakes my mum used to make when I was little. Very yummy, was great just with a dash of milk.

Boiling 5 min, 0 sec

I’ve now finished the 25g of Collection bag I had. I came back to this one each time I had a cold/flu or even a hint of it over the last two months, and it never failed me. With a dollop of honey, this tea was a great pick-me-up. Glad I got some!

drank Paradise Found by DAVIDsTEA

So I got this as part of the spring collection and I had an iced cup some time in late March, when it was still quite warm here in south eastern Australia. But the experience was so traumatic its taken me this long to log it.

So I got home one day, filled the steeper with water and tea, grabbed a glass with ice and took it all into the lounge. Unfortunately I placed the steeper half on, half off a coaster, and didn’t notice until too late that all my lovely tea had spilled out of the bottom of the steeper, down onto the coffee table, through the shelf and drawers, and had started to dribble onto the carpet. Major brewing fail. I madly rushed to the kitchen to find paper towel, a cloth and grab the re-boiled kettle and steeper tray to re-do the tea. (why waste the third of the steeper full of tea that was left??).

So a few minutes later when the steeper contents was nicely pink, I poured it over my ice. Finally! Fruity, tasty and a hint of tart (hibiscus I presumed, and i don’t mind it unlike other reviewers). A nice iced tea, pity about the trouble getting it.

Preparation
Boiling 6 min, 30 sec

Oh nooo – you know what? I always place my steeper on a towel to dry, and THREE times I’ve filled the steeper while it’s still on the towel! aka all the tea is now soaked into the towel and everywhere else haha. So annoying!

drank Checkmate by DAVIDsTEA

So this one is a note on behalf of my partner. He had a sip of mine on Friday evening and was intrigued, then made his own thermos to take on our hike today. He loved it! Didn’t get ,uh specific, just a few “my god this is yummy” blurts between mouthfuls. The whole thermos went down his throat in about 2 mins. He’d probably rate it a 94.

His dad came over a while ago before they headed to see Prometheus and had a cup, and he also approved.

I got this one initially as a sample 9 months ago as part of an online order. Yes, I got this as a sample! Loved the first cups (2 steeps) I had. Creamy, delicate, lovely companion on a short hike. So I had to get more, but the cost meant I had to wait until after last Christmas ( the advent calendar and christmas teas were must buys!) and until I got my we job. So glad I got more! On my third steep of my first teaspoon of leaves. Still delicate and creamy, even my third steep still has that lovely golden colour. Love this one, a real treat.

drank Secret Weapon by DAVIDsTEA

Finally got my full stash of secret weapon instead of working from two sample tins. Had a TIMOLINO of this one while on the go yesterday. Still so yummy, and was nice on my dry throat. Oh, the wonders of winter at 42o South.

I remember getting my first cup of tea at about the age of 8. Just a standard run of the mill black, with some sugar and milk to make it palatable to an 8year old. But a love was born and I’ve never looked back!

I’ve always appreciated the quality of loose leaf, and thanks to the discovery of the fanatastic gadgets at DavidsTea while on holiday, the tea obsession has grown! Is it weird to be ordering tea and having it sent half way around the world?

I’d love to do some tea swaps with people to try new teas. I have a bit of a DavidsTea range for any Australians interested in trying some DT goodness minus international postage fees!

Ive just started working at The Art of Tea , a small Tasmanian company. They dont currently ship overseas, but im more than happy to arrange swaps with people. their full product listing can be found here: http://www.artoftea.com.au/. (December 2012).
