592 Tasting Notes
I ordered an oolong sampler from Teavivre when ordering my new teapot, and this was the only one of them that was in super airtight packaging. So of course I was curious and decided to pop it open this morning. I gotta say that so far, this is competing to be one of my favorite oolongs! It’s sweet, floral, and so smooth. It looks like everyone else who reviewed this also thinks highly of it, so I will definitely be putting this back on my shopping list for when my tea buying hiatus is over.
After having straight black tea earlier today, I was in the mood for something a little sweeter. This tea has become one of my go-to’s for when I’m in this kind of mood. Plus, it’s giving me the chance to break in my brand new mug!
Threw a few balls into my new teapot and brewed up a nice black tea for the morning. After steeping, I realized I wanted something a little sweeter, so I added some creamer. It really brought out the subtle cocoa notes from this tea. This tea is nothing too special for a straight black, but seems to be reliable.
Had this tea with dinner, which was heavy on beef. The meal really brought out the grassiness of the tea, and I did not notice the savory aspect as much until I was sipping on it afterward. Not my favorite Japanese green tea, but I will enjoy the sample while I have it.
I was hesitant to try this one because “tobacco” and “honey” aren’t usually taste descriptions that appeal to me. The dry leaf smelled like damp earth, which is probably the tobacco part of it. The tea also tastes like damp earth that is mellowed out by the sweetness from the honey. It seems like a nice tea, but it doesn’t fit my tastes.
Backlog from yesterday, so this will be a quick note. The first steep was sweet and smooth, delicious! Second and subsequent steeps got a little to vegetal for my preferences, but still very nice. After all the bagged teas I’ve had lately from vacation, it was extra nice to see the unfurled full leaves in my glass teapot. They seriously expanded like no other. Now I’m just sitting here wondering which tea I’ll steep up for this morning..
Cold brewed this one for the first time in the fridge overnight. I mentioned in previous tasting notes how the peach flavor is more of a gummy candy peach flavor. That candy flavor really works well in the iced form of this tea. I think I may even prefer it iced over hot. Anyway, it’s a nice refreshing iced tea! (I’m clearly a little insane for drinking iced tea while there is a snow storm raging outside, oh well).
Ordered this at Starbucks this morning to have something warm to hold onto and sip on while walking around outside doing touristy things. I didn’t realize when ordering “green tea” that this had such a prominent lemongrass flavor. I don’t really like lemons or lemongrass in general, so I will not be reordering this again, but it was a nice hand warmer at the very least!
I had to grab a bagel while I’m in New York, so we walked to a cute little bagel place around the corner from our hotel. To my surprise, they had Mighty Leaf! This breakfast tea was so much better than the cardboardy Tazo one I had yesterday. I may pick some of this up at the grocery when I get back home.
