286 Tasting Notes
Courtney sent me a sample of this forever ago, it seems, and I totally forgot about it. I pulled it out the other day and decided to give it a shot this afternoon.
I don’t know why I waited so long! It’s so yummy. I don’t get chocolate like everyone else seems to, to me, this tastes like caramel or toffee or something equally sweet and delicious. I very much enjoyed this cup, and I am going to prepare a second infusion right now.
Thanks, Courtney! I’m looking forward to drinking some more of this one.
Yep, just going to keep drinking this and posting about how awesome it is.
Courtney suggested blending it with Copabanana, so I gave that a shot this morning. Obviously, I’m going to need more Copabanana, because that was amazing. Guayusa seriously makes everything else taste better.
I had a miserable tummy ache last night at my mom’s show, so I took a little teabag full of this (with a tiny bit of peppermint tossed in). I had three cups, and it was delicious.
I don’t know if it made me feel any better, but it certainly tasted good, and made my painful evening much more enjoyable.
Didn’t have quite enough of this left for a full 16oz cup, so I mixed in a wee bit of Cookie Dough… and it’s delightful. Totally not the wonderful caramel flavor I had hoped for from this tea, but a very enjoyable combination.
(I chose to finish off this sample because I want to order the Caramel Vanilla Assam from Butiki so very much, and needed something caramel-y to make me feel better. It was a good try. Sigh.)
I’ve only got one cup of this left, and I can’t believe I hadn’t logged it yet. I think that’s probably because I really can’t tell the difference between this one and Oatmeal Raisin Cookie.
They are both cinnamon-y and sweet and very tasty, but there’s nothing about them that really stands out. This one is currently unavailable anyway, but I don’t think I’ll be missing it too much since I have Oatmeal Raisin Cookie in my cupboard, and DavidsTea’s Glitter & Gold. It IS yummy, though. And the smell is fantastic.
I am on a mission to drink up some of the smaller samples I have so that my tea cupboard will be a tidier collection of teas that I actually want to have around, instead of samples that I keep ignoring in favor of teas that I prefer.
And it’s not that I don’t like this one – it’s creamy and minty and tastes like Christmas. I feel like I should be sipping it in front of a roaring fire, watching the snow fall. Which is partly why I want to drink it up, I only have enough left for one more cup and it is definitely not a summer tea.
With the licorice and vanilla and cinnamon, this one still smells like a ginger cookie to me. It’s very odd, but I don’t mind it at all. Better that than the stinky feet, dirt, fish smells that other people are getting. Yay, allergies?
After letting this air out in a bowl in my closet, I am finding the taste (and smell!) to be much… gentler? It’s very nice, anyway.
In fact, I ordered more.
I definitely prefer this to the S’mores Genmaicha, and I really like drinking it in the evening. The marshmallow-y sweetness is so nice with the toasty genmaicha, it’s a lovely winding-down kind of treat.
Having a bit this afternoon with some Vanilla Orchid tossed in. Yum.
Also, I bought coconut palm sugar yesterday, and added a little to my second infusion. That is good stuff. Delightful choice for this afternoon! I love oolongs when I’m trying to get work done. They make me feel productive.
This one smelled oddly spicy, which really threw me off. Luckily, it tastes quite good. The mint seems very subtle, which is really nice since a lot of the mint teas I’ve tried have more of a strong mint flavor. This lets a lot of the black base shine through, giving it an almost chocolate-y complement to the mint. It’s lovely.
Thanks so much, Mitch! I really enjoyed all of the teas you shared with me.
Mitch sent me a generous sample of this, since I am always interested in trying new rooibos teas that maybe don’t taste medicinal.
This one is really good! I love chocolate and banana, but I am not a huge fan of chocolate in general, and this has a nice balance. The nuts are perfect, too. I added a bit of Forever Nuts for my third steep, and it was fantastic.
I am so glad I got to try this! Thanks, Mitch!
