330 Tasting Notes

This is tasty, though I think I expected more from it after reading all the great reviews. It’s basically lime and a creamy taste. Even though it’s a rooibos blend, the rooibos is not really evident in the flavor (great for people that hate rooibos – I happen to like it). I’m curious how it compares to the Lemon Chiffon version. I picked up both as part of a sample pack from a Della Terra order.

All in all good, but it didn’t blow me away.

This is so weird. With sweetener, it kind of tastes like warm stale ginger ale (obviously sans fizz). It’s not bad, but I’m not sure how I think about it. I figure I should try it before the biggest eating day of the year, Thanksgiving is less than a week away. Knowing that it’s not horrible (and I’ve been trying to incorporate pu-erh into my “tea diet”, I think I’ll be drinking some of this after the extra long lunch-dinner on Thursday.

Not bad, but not great either? Wouldn’t mind swapping the majority of it to be quite honest.

Weight To Go by Teavana is a nice Pu’erh tea. It was one of the first Pu’erh teas I actually enjoyed and probably because it tastes more like strawberries than anything else.

Finished off the rest of my sample this morning. I’m taking the day off as it is my birthday and already managed to make a tea order (oops). I still like this but it’s not special enough for me to want to get more. Sipdown (why is this so satisfying?)!

Finished off the last bit of my tin this morning by preparing a pitcher of this to keep in the fridge. Technically not a sipdown, but I’m happy to see this tin leave my collection. It’s certainly not bad by any means, but as the weather has gotten colder, my tastes have changed just a bit and I’m doing my best to keep my stash fresh. I may just buy another tin next summer.

Sipdown!

I polished off the last of this tonight. As I think I mentioned in my initial review, it’s a pretty nondescript sweet taste and doesn’t really taste like “red velvet” cake. I’ve enjoyed it after work but I don’t think it’s special enough to stock it.

This is super heavy on the chamomile and the little flowers were stuffed at the top of the sample baggy and I had to decant into something where I could actually get some of the blend.

This isn’t horrible, but I don’t really get banana or coconut from this. Mostly chamomile, maybe a mild sweetness but I added sweetener. I’m not the biggest fan of chamomile since there was an incident a year or so ago when I had the stomach bug, enough said. This I can manage to get down without reliving that awful experience but it’s not something I’ll be drinking again AND the remains of the packet are now living in my swap box.

2 tsp + sweetener in 16oz steeping mug

I decided to be temporarily distracted from all the secret pumpkin and Davidstea new teas I have swimming around and try one of the Persimmon Tree Tea Company sample baggies that I was ignoring at work.

For a only partially (not crazily sprinkled candy) flavored tea, this is really tasty! The vanilla is not overwhelming and I’ve noticed that I really like Assam as a black tea, especially as a base for flavored ones. I’d pick up a tin of this for sure!

My husband recently went on a business trip to Montreal and bought me 8 different bags of 25grams of tea. The majority of the holiday collection and some other bits recommended by the sales associate (he spoils me!). I was really excited about this one but also a bit nervous.

The first steep, I did 4 minutes and added sweetener. There was a slightly bitter taste to it but still enjoyable.

The second steep, I prefer. I did 5 minutes and once again added sweetener. It’s not the big punch of flavor from the first steep but is kind of like liquified toffifay, though obviously a much lighter flavor and not the yummy candy mouthful that you get with the real thing.

I’m going to attempt a third steep in a bit but I quite like this! I wonder if any of the holiday collection will make its way into the permanent line… one can hope.

I picked some of this up for the Secret Pumpkin and when I was portioning it out, each time I got a whiff of it, I thought “I’ve got to try that” but due to the Secret Pumpkin, I also managed to receive quite a bit more samples than I’m used to having at any one time (no complaints) and never got around to trying it. Till tonight that is…

Well, unlike the Davidstea Pumpkin Chai, this doesn’t taste nearly as flavorful as it smells, but it’s a similar taste profile and pretty yummy. I used 2.5 teaspoons in my 16oz steeping mug and added sweetener. I think next time I’ll try steeping for a few less minutes (I did the full 5 and I think the black tea has drowned out the flavor a little). Otherwise, tasty, just wish it tasted the way it smells!!!

I recently discovered loose leaf tea and am already addicted (much to my husband’s dismay)! I prefer fruity teas iced and savory teas hot. Looking forward to drinking and chatting.

Spicy flavors unless in chai

heavy ginger teas
teas with licorice (as primary ingredients – somehow I like some where the licorice is in the back drop)
heavily oxidized oolongs

For my own reference, I’m only placing “full size” teas in my cupboard.
