First I hot brewed this at normal strength for about 10 minutes (for 24oz) and then I used the remainder plus 2 fresh teaspoons to make another 24oz cold brewed. This reminds me of coconut water. It is sweet, refreshing and light on the tongue. It’s not super sweet but enough that I don’t need to add sweetener. I ordered more of this and Pink Passionate. I think those are my new favorite juice-type teas that I’ve found this season. A plus, I’m feeling a bit better and tea stays down (sorry TMI).

I’m drinking the last bag of this today. It’s definitely pleasant, nice and light and slightly fruit. Back to decent (even bagged) tea now that I’m out of the hospital. Let’s just say that I didn’t open the bags they supplied there.

Just like the butterscotch, I’m about to have a lot more of this in my cupboard. I needed some tasty tea after this mornings trial. This is still tasty (whew). I usually brew 5 minutes and then the leaves are good for another brew with a few extra leaves. My second brew of this will easily ""sipdown"" this sample (I’m on my first brew right now). But as with my prior PTT note, 1oz is on its way to me soon.

Thanks to RogersCK for this sample!

I love Firefly (and Serenity for that matter) so when I saw this on RogersCK’s swaplist, I knew I had to at least try it. The steeping leaves smelled a little weird. The taste is also a bit weird. I totally get the previous reviews on this mentioning chlorine. Maybe chlorine plus burnt toast? I don’t really taste the chocolate. I’ve been writing this tasting note for longer than I tend to, and I can’t take more than a sip of my mug without making the yuck face. Not a fan. Glad I only got that sample!

Ya, this one still eludes me. So sad, since I have a bunch of it.

Interestingly enough, I enjoyed this tea the first time I tried it (haven’t had another cup since though). I like the toasted, slightly burnt taste of rice so maybe I’m weird like that, lol. My husband on the other hand couldn’t stand it. I will have to try this one again and maybe pay closer attention since I did not get the ‘chlorine’ taste.

So today was an odd day as I was in the hospital for the majority of it (migraines are so much fun). I came home after a long rush hour drive and just wanted something yummy and warm. This was perfect, and I even finished off the sample sachet from my first order with Persimmon Tree. I suppose you could call this a sipdown, but as 1 ounce is on its way, it’s kinda wrong to claim it.

Since I have 1oz coming to me that I ordered from the Labor Day sale, I felt it was ‘ok’ to use more of the sample I bought a few weeks ago. It is still delicious which is good since I will have much more of it soon!

My father-in-law heard me talking about my love for white tea, so while he was out food shopping, he brought back a box of this (can you tell my in-laws are awesome yet?!). I had it unsweetened as I had it during dinner (I feel it’s a waste to add sweetener when I’m eating something mildly sweet since you can’t really taste the sweetness that way – my sandwich had a juicy tomato on it)! I only steeped for just under 2 minutes and I waited till my water had cooled down to 175.

It’s mild, very smooth and with very little astringency. Pretty nice, but I’ve gotten awfully spoiled by the loose white teas in my collection. There’s just something about them! Not too bad though for tea on the fly.

My husband told his mom that I was into tea, so she bought whatever she could find from her local grocery store for our visit. This was one of them. It’s actually really nice! It’s still got that earthy quality but it’s very lightly flavored with vanilla. I’ve enjoyed my two cups so far!

I received a couple of the sample packets from a recent Davidstea order. It has been hotter than normal in the DC area (well at least this summer – usually it’s much worse) so I hot-brewed 2 of the 5 gram sample packets and then stuck it all in the fridge to cold brew for about 24 hours. It’s tastes like watered down juice (which is how I prefer it – I’m a weirdo, I know). It doesn’t need sweetener which is awesome and it’s so refreshing!

I basically drank through 32oz of it in 20 minutes. I think I need more of this, stat!

I haven’t had much luck with dessert teas that mix chocolate and mint because the mint almost always overpowers the chocolate. This is a much lighter mint and you can actually taste the chocolate, though I taste vanilla a bit more.

It kind of reminds me of the McDonalds St. Patty’s Day shake, which is oh so delicious but so horrible for you. I picked up some of bags to keep at work which was convenient today as I accidentally left my steeping mug in the dishwasher at home! Woe is me! I can get 2 steepings easily out of the bag which has a hearty portion and I add a touch of milk and a touch of sweetener.

(I may have also ordered the loose for home use, but don’t tell my husband)

Bio

I recently discovered loose leaf tea and am already addicted (much to my husband’s dismay)! I prefer fruity teas iced and savory teas hot. Looking forward to drinking and chatting.

Some likes/dislikes I’ve been noticing:

Likes:
Pineapple
Jasmine
Fruity White Teas
lighters Blacks
Most Oolongs (especially greener varieties)
dessert teas
tisanes iced that don’t require added sweetener

Dislikes:
Spicy flavors unless in chai
astringent black teas
heavy ginger teas
teas with licorice (as primary ingredients – somehow I like some where the licorice is in the back drop)
heavily oxidized oolongs

For my own reference, I’m only placing “full size” teas in my cupboard.
