Heritage Aijiao from Red Blossom Tea Company

Silken Oolong from Te' House of Tea
Nantou Dawn - Jin Xuan from Teahouse Kuan Yin
98

The one pot of assam wasn’t enough for this sleepy grad student, so I ordered a jin xuan – the “nantou dawn”. The first steep was UNBELIEVABLE – it was so sweet and buttery. After I deplete my home stash of various milky oolong, I’m totally stocking up on this as my at-home-jin-xuan.

Assam Satrupa - Spring Reserve from Teahouse Kuan Yin
83

I headed to Teahouse Kuan Yin to get some studying done. I started my study session with a pot of this assam that caught my eye because it was on the limited edition teas list. It was recommended to be taken without milk, but I need a bit of whole milk with my afternoon black tea. There wasn’t anything that really stood out to me compared to other assams that I have had, but it did help me get over my afternoon slump.

PG Tips from PG Tips

I ran out of my Extra Strong Black Tea by Marks & Spencer, and since importing it is ridiculously expensive — I’m switching over to PG Tips (available much more easily in the US, and can be purchased at World Market to add to my explorer points).

I’ve been having my A&D’s assam with milk for my afternoon tea, but since I’m travelling for the next few weeks I decided it was easier and just as tasty to snag a box of PG Tips. <3

Quangzhou Milk Oolong from DAVIDsTEA
95

I still need to do more comparisons between this and ATR’s milk oolong. But both are delicious.

Ceylon Special Blend with Cardamom from Sadaf

Fairtrade Extra Strong teabags from Marks & Spencer Tea

Carävan from Andrews & Dunham Damn Fine Tea
93

Good morning. Time for a cup of caravan tea to wake me up.

Bombay Chai from Mighty Leaf Tea
73

There’s a particular spice that I can’t put my finger on that really stands out. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet – I’ll have to ask my friend to “acquire” more of it at his workplace for further tasting.

Organic Assam Breakfast from two leaves and a bud
83

Perfect for an afternoon pot of tea, served with a bit of almond milk.

Milk Oolong from American Tea Room
98

Just made a late cup. Very buttery and smooth. I accidentally steeped it for four minutes instead of the recommended two, but it was so deep and delicious <3

Milk Oolong from American Tea Room
98

I’m graduating in a few weeks so I thought it was due time to visit the American Tea Room in next-door Beverly Hills. I got the Afternoon Tea service and ordered a pot of milk oolong without hesitation. I’ve been dying to try a cup of this since reading about it on the Steepster discussion boards.

My thoughts? Delicious and smooth. I’ve only tried the Jin Xuan tea sampler from Tea from Taiwan, so my milk oolong palate is still developing. But this was so good that I paid the $16 to take an ounce of it home. (An impulse purchase on a poor college budget). Hopefully I’ll be able to brew it just as well at home.

Tai Xing Jin Xuan from Tea from Taiwan
83

My first flavored milk tea, and I must say that I really do enjoy it. I’m not sure if I have a preference for flavored or non-flavored milk tea yet.

Zhu Shan Jin Xuan from Tea from Taiwan

Rui Feng Jin Xuan from Tea from Taiwan

My first milk oolong. I having a hard time tasting the milk aspect of this time. It really comes off as a green oolong to me.

Maiden's Ecstasy from Samovar

I’ve been drinking a lot of milk tea lately so it was really refreshing to enjoy a cup of straight tea. Samovar’s Maiden’s Ecstasy is one of my favorite puerhs <3

Bio

“A random girl trying to find her element. Meanwhile she’s studying nutrition, after spending her undergrad exploring neuroscience, natural health, and tea.”

Tea logging has become a rare event since graduate school, but I try to add notes whenever I try something new.

My favorite teas are milk oolong, jasmine tea, genmaicha, and an assam with milk.
