This tasty tea came all the way from Japan for me. I’m such a sucker for any well-blended matcha and genmaicha tea like the ryokucha from Samovar. This tea is still very fresh, so the genmai is still very “crispy”. <3

Woke up too early this morning to run errands. Hockey game this afternoon but before that I need a cup of milk tea to wake me up!
I jumped straight onto the Samovar website when Kevin Rose tweeted the special tea sampler that he was doing with Samovar – it had Maiden’s Estacy, Ryokucha, and this Wuyi Dark Roast. It’s been so long since I’ve had a wuyi oolong. My last one was the Wuyi Ensemble from Adagios (very delicious)! I can’t really compare the two since it’s been so long since I’ve the Adagio one. But I’m a big fan of the roasted/nutty taste of any wuyi tea.
I bought a bunch of different smokey teas from Chado in an attempt to find something as good as A&D’s Caravan. (My roommate and I totally depleted that one). This one is definitely my roommate’s favorite of the bunch, probably because of the earl grey. I prefer this one straight (as I do with most of my smokey teas), although I did try it with milk and it was pretty good as well.

Genmaicha is one of my favorite teas there is. But there’s something about the genmaicha in Samovar’s that makes their ryokucha super addicting. I always try to convince my budget to let me restock this one whenever Samovar has a sale. Delicious, but not too friendly for a college student budget.
I went to my cousin’s over the holiday and she gave me this delicious box of Persian tea. It’s the cardamom that makes this one so addicting. <3
This is the last darjeeling in my cupboard. Darjeelings are interesting because I think I prefer them straight than with milk. They always feel too light for milk.
My first sip of my A&D Christmas present to me. I’m not sure how I feel about this tea yet, I can’t quite make out what this scented oolong is scented with. It seems to have a sort of floral taste with maybe a hint of some kind of fruit.
EDIT: I looked it up and it’s scented with magnolia blossoms!
A simple (and well honestly cheap) assam. <3
Happy New Year everyone! This year I wil aim to log my teas more regularly starting tonight with an “evening blend” tea from Chado. You can barely taste the rose petals, this one just tastes like a mild blended black tea – no particular strong flavors. It still makes a decent pot of tea, which I’m enjoying with a bit of milk.
