I made a iced pitcher and I was a little nervous because I didn’t think I had enough tea leaves to coincide with the amount of water I had measured out (two thermos fulls), and I was probably right in thinking that. However, Ancient Emerald Lily comes off pretty nice when it’s cold and maybe a little weak. (But maybe my opinion is biased, I was dying of thirst when I drank it.)
175 Tasting Notes
Made a cold pitcher. Even weak the taste holds up pretty well.
Made a pitcher of iced Yunnan. Interesting, but not as good as hot Yunnan. It has a sort of tangy/sweet taste, but there’s also a sort of dry bitterness.
Made a pitcher of iced Super-Blue. It’s pleasant, but I think it’s better hot. (Although, the shiny little beetle I found in the buds while I was steeping may have soured my perception.)
Finished this off by making an iced pitcher. Good hot, good cold. The cinnamon taste seems more suited to hot, but when made cold it’s pleasantly tasty.
Made an iced pitcher of this tea. I’m not sure if I prefer it iced, compared to hot, but it’s good either way.
Tried it iced. The flavor remains pretty constant regardless if it’s iced or hot.
Made a pitcher and finished this off. Personally, I find white tea better iced than hot and this tea is no exception.
I took this iced and the flavor translates pretty well. Certainly it’s somewhat sweeter, but usually an iced tea (for me) is somewhat less strong than a hot tea. In this case the tea comes across pretty similar between the two methods.
I tried this iced. It’s interesting. Much more bitter than I expected, but not too bitter or unpleasant.
Well I’m not crazy about it, but I was curious. I do very very much enjoy anything slightly sassafrass-y and this makes a respectable tea. I haven’t tried it hot, but if you make it cold you have to make it much stronger.
Good on a cold spring day.
There’s a strong lapsang souchong, but not nearly as strong as a straight lapsang souchong (obviously). The smokey taste is pretty mild and, I’d say, a lot more palatable to the average drinker.
Good stuff.
Very very interesting. I’ve never had an Earl Grey that was sweet.
Probably not a good idea to drink a thermos full after 6pm, unless you abhor sleeping.
Better brewed hot than brewed cold.
For a cold morning in the spring.
First cold brewed tea of the year. I always prefer my white tea cold rather than hot. This particular tea retains it’s sweet taste cold or hot. But cold there seems to be a sort of melon flavor, as opposed to hot which is somewhat nectar/honey flavored.

And that’s the last of it…
This always leaves a taste in my mouth for the rest of the day. Like it’s coating my teeth or something.
