590 Tasting Notes
MissB is to blame when I land in a tea coma because she sent me a package that I totally wasn’t expecting and SHE’S JUST THE BEST OKAY.
And she ended up giving me te rest of her package of this?!??! Ahh I was already planning on turning this into a sipdown, but I guess not!
This tea is great. Light green tea with jasmine flavouring. Just be careful about the steep times and the temp of the water because I think this specific green tea base is a bit sassy with all of that and can turn bitter pretty quickly. But if brewed correctly, it’s great!!
And I’m just really excited because spring break is near and I seriously need to figure out which teas to bring with me. So I laid out all my teas and I finally organized it all! I used to organize it by company, but now I just have a massive tin full of sipdowns (there’s like 46 teas in it okay I AM SO HAPPY) and a section full of high caffeine teas, and a section of low caffeine teas. Yeah, I live in a wee tiny apartment so like… this is as much space as I can dedicate to all my teas. BUT SIPDOWNS WILL HAPPEN! I’m probably going to bring a butt ton of sipdowns with me to bring back home :)
SCREAMING BECAUSE I JUST FINISHED MY LAST FINAL AND I WENT TO CHECK MY MAIL BECAUSE I WAS EXPECTING A PACKAGE FROM MY PARENTS AND THEN I FOUND ANOTHER PACKAGE TAPED TO MY OTHER PACKAGE AND MISSB GOT ME TEA AND I’M ALL WHAT WOW OKAY THEN AHHHH I’M LITERALLY SITTING IN MY ROOM SCREAMING BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW WHICH TEAS TO BRING BACK HOME FOR SPRING BREAK
But yes. THIS IS A GREAT OOLONG AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH and when I get money, I’m totally going to buy more tea from Tea at Sea because that tea company is GREAT.
This is a sipdown, but the count doesn’t even matter because I FREAKIN JUST GOT LIKE 15 NEW TEAS FROM BONNY LIKE NO THIS IS GREAT BUT AHHH TEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEEEEAAAAAAAA
MY ROOMMATEA ARE MAKING FUN OF ME BECAUSE I’M FREAKING OUT BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE EATEATEATEATEATEAT AHAHHAHA OH MY GOSH WHAT IS THIS WHAT IS MY LIFE.
Tea right when I woke up this morning to make up for my lack of tea the past two days!
First time I had this tea, thank to MissB!
I actually made matcha without laughing my butt off this time ahaha. Last time, I had no idea what the heck I was doing. But this time, I seemed like I knew what I was doing :) I think I found the perfect cup to make my matcha in. It has a pretty wide mouth, and not as tall as my mugs. That’ll probably be my matcha cup since I hate drinking tea out of it because it’s a really thin glass and it just gets super hot when I use boiling water and whatnot.
BUT THIS TEA. Good? I think? Tasted like matcha, can’t really get the Irish Cream out of it, but it’s super good nonetheless :)
I haven’t been to Disneyland since last year, and I haven’t been on Disney property since I left the Program. AHHH YESTERDAY WAS GREAT.
First time in forever spending the night with my cousins on a weekday, only becausE WE’RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND TOMORROW.
I didn’t bother bringing any teas with me to their house tonight or to last me during Disney all day tomorrow, so I’m left with my aunt’s very limited tea selection.
I am so out of practice with teabags okay. I remember the last time I had a teabag, I had no idea what to do. 5 minutes in boiling water seemed like a lot! Same with this tea. There’s a fairly strong aroma that comes out when I ripped the package open and I’m thinking a two second infusion would be sufficient. I’VE ONLY HAD LIKE 4 TEABAGS IN MY ENTIRE LIFE OKAY.
Umm this tea is okay? I’ve never had a full-leaf tea that tastes quite like this though. A good tea to drink if I have no other choice ahaha
(I’m sorry. I just really don’t like teabags okay. My roommates and close friends always make fun of me because I’m the sassiest tea drinker they know)
Wasn’t planning on drinking tea tonight, but I figured that since I have a final tomorrow morning, it’s be nice to have some company as I cram as much information as I can in the next couple of hourse. And if I’m drinking tea this late, it’s gotta be caffeine free!
Coco Chai Roobois. Sipdown (114)
When I read the name of this tea, I totally thought that the coco bit was chocolate! But I reread it and realized it was coconut and I’m slowly developing my palette to enjoy coconut flavoured teas :)
This smells funny. I think it’s the fact that there’s coconut in this and it’s chai and no lemongrass. The last time I had a coconutty chai was Adagio’s Thai Chai and that had tons of lemongrass in it. But this? It’s less tropical and more… rooibos-y.
It’s nice! Definitely taste the coconut and I need to learn to love coconut! I know this tea is great and all, but just the fact that I don’t enjoy coconut as much as others.. yeah. I will finish this cup happily, but if I liked coconut, then I know that I’d enjoy it much more!!
Sample from MissB!
Okay this definitely smells like a tea that I wouldn’t necessarily enjoy, but I was smelling the teas that I brought with me, and this was a bit intriguing. I normally don’t enjoy fruity teas, but this one smells a bit mellow and nice! The smell reminds me of a thing… a nice thing. Dude I don’t even know. This tasting note is a complete mess.
But umm… this definitely smells better than it tastes. Aww darn. It smells so nice and the fruitiness smells like it’s well balanced with the base, but tasting it, the fruit comes up and it tastes mediciney again :(
Got this from the Steepster Select December package. Dude. I need to get through those teas. I think I have just a single serving for 4 of the 5. The Roasted Dong Ding I left for my roommate since she loved it so much :)
This smells like a typical black tea. Assam? Ceylon? It didn’t have any defining features right when I ripped open the package, and as it was steeping, it still smelt like a typical black tea.
Tasting it, it tastes a bit weaker than other black teas that I’ve had, but I do get bits of that “sour cherry” that is written on the package.
Overall, an okay cup of tea. The other package has been placed in my sipdown pile already and I’d happily rid this tea from my stash :)
Slept at 1:30 last night and I’m actually really surprised that I was able to whip out my paper in 2 hours. HA. I legit started it at 11pm and finished at 1. But I had a pretty nice outline, I just didn’t add this company in the outline so I had to tweak a while bunch of things.
Now with a full night’s rest, it is 11 am, I’m drinking this tea to wake me up! Paper is due at 1:30 tonight and now I’m just editing all the mistakes that my 12am brain made haha.
I got this from MissB pretty recently!
I got some teas from her that were good for only one serving and I weighed them, and they were 4g samples. This one looks like it’s only good for one serving so I’m hoping that it’s 4g as well! I’m attempting to split this into 2 cups. This cup only has 1g of leaves and it’s in a 5oz teacup but I only filled it halfway so I’m hoping this’ll be enough!
Dude. It smells really nice thought. I was on the Kusmi site earlier (explanation down below) and this seems like it’s a fairly popular blend. This is the first time I’ve had Kusmi before, and right now they seem pretty amazing since this tea smells SOO GOOOD.
I’m not the biggest fan of ginger teas, but this one actually smells appetizing. It smells so bright and the ginger enhances the tea, rather than covers it up.
Drinking it, the ginger is definitely present, but it’s not the main focus. WAIT. I LOOKED AT INGREDIENTS AND THERE’S NO GINGER IN THIS. REWIND. So the stuff that I see is most likely licorice root. No wonder it had a sweeter taste :) I actually kinda like this. It has a bit of a bite, but this blend makes a great cuppa :) It just has a weird aftertaste that I can’t quite pinpoint. Ahh well. I’ve got probably 3g of this left so I’ll figure it out during my sipdown!
Okay you have no idea how excited I am for my trip to SF at the end of the month okay. So I’m totally going to San Francisco with my cousin and it’s going to be a massive Tea trip. We’re going to go to the Bloomingdales mall and visit DAVIDs and Lupicia and I’m obviously going to spend a whole lot of money there HA. And I’m treating her to Samovar near the Metreon.
I should be writing my paper right now buuut… I kinda got distracted and looked at tea and now I’m on the Kusmi site and THEY SELL KUSMI TEAS AT THAT EXACT BLOOMINGDALES!?!??!?! Yeah I totally can’t afford Bloomingdales, but I’ll visit just for Kusmi :))
((I was totally going to drink another tea from my aunt’s pantry, but as I was looking for the caffeine content of that tea, I saw the expiration date and it was good till 2009… umm yeah, I’d rather not drink expired tea and die right before finals, thank you very much.))
