395 Tasting Notes

I read my past reviews of this tea because I remember thinking that it was a decent chai. Not the best, but good to have when I want a quick chai.
This morning, however, I brewed it the way I like it and it didn’t turn out nice :/ It’s not strong and it has such a weird aftertaste. It tastes overly sweet for some reason, and I didn’t even put any sugar in it at all.
Not a good tea, happily a sipdown.

drank White Peony by Lupicia
395 tasting notes

Dude. I’m going home for a week and I only brought 40 of my teas and the majority of them are sipdowns. I think I might be able to live? I really want other teas right now, but I left them all in my room at school. And I’ll be flying home on monday. I have about 5 teas with me right now, and another 35 in my luggage. I’m trying my best to make it work ahhaha MY LIFE.

But this is just a typical white peony. Like nothing to stand out, good or bad. Average tea that I like a whole lot :) Accidentally poured too hot water and some of the leaves definitely got scorched, but luckily it did nothing to the flavour :)

drank Butterfly Jasmine by DAVIDsTEA
395 tasting notes

Quite possibly one of the best jasmine teas I have ever tasted. EVER.

This tea tastes delicate, but you don’t have to prepare it like a delicate tea. It doesn’t get bitter so easily, it can take harsh heat if I somehow forget that greens don’t get steeped in boiling water, and if I forget about it and leave it to steep for 10+ minutes, it still has a great flavour. It’s not temperamental and sassy like other jasmine teas and IT’S JUST SO FREAKIN GOOD. It resteeps like a boss and still has a great flavour even if I forget about it and leave it too cool.

Thank you MissB for sending me some, and I am for SURE going to get some more of this when I pay a visit to DAVIDs next week!

Cheri

I was about to say this needs to go on my wishlist, when I noticed it’s already there.

drank Golden Honey Dew by Lupicia
395 tasting notes

I sent a sachet of this over to MissB and NayLynn and it seems as though they both drank it today!
Dude. I only had about 2 sachets to last me two weeks and really wasn’t enough. This is my last sachet and YOU BET I’LL BE STOCKING UP ON THIS TEA WHEN I VISIT LUPICIA NEXT WEEK.
I’m probably not going to go to San Francisco till this time next year so… dang I have to stock up.

This is technically a sipdown, but I’m not going to bother taking out out of my cupboard since I know I’ll be getting some more within the next week :)

Preparation
Boiling 8 min or more 3 g 10 OZ / 295 ML

A rooibos honeydew tea? Yum!

jump62359

Yes yes, this is definitely one of my favourite teas ever! A really good every day tea, but because it’s just hard to purchase (it’s in-store only), I only save it for when I really want it :)

VariaTEA

Understandable. If only it were available in LA instead of SF, then I could send my Dad to go pick some up :P

jump62359

I’m sure you’ve read my other notes about how excited I am to fly back home and take a trip to SF next week, but I know I’m going to be stocking up on my Honey Dew and I can send you a small sample if you’d like!

VariaTEA

That is a very kind offer but I would hate to take any of it away from you since you can’t access it easily and love it so much. Thank you though.

jump62359

Are you sure? I’m mainly stocking up on this tea for this very reason! I know it’s a hard tea to get to, but fairly easy for me. Mother loves me oh so very much so if I ever run out of this tea, I know she wouldn’t mind taking a trip to the city with father and mailing it to me :)

VariaTEA

Alright. You twisted my arm :P. I can send you money for it or I can send you teas if you like.

jump62359

Oh no no, no need to send me tea or money! Just think of it as a gift from me to you!
I’ll contact you in like a week or so to get your mailing address :)

VariaTEA

Awesome! And if you ever see anything in my cupboard you want to try, don’t hesitate to ask.

Attempted to turn my chai into a chai latte aaaand NOPE. It turned out way too sweet bleehh.
Well I accidentally overleafed my chai so when I finish my fail of a latte, I’ll just prepare my chai the way I like it :)

drank Peppermint by Adagio Teas

Sipdown! (120)

Sad to see this go.
Drinking this with the rest of my chamomile since I can’t drink chamomile straight. I/ve about 2.5g of chamomile and 2.2g of peppermint.
So yeah.

I’ll definitely be picking up some peppermint soon, but happy to see my chamomile go!

SIPDOWN (122)

GOOD RIDDANCE.
I’ve had this tea for foreveeeerrr
I decided to just turn this package upsidedown, along with a sipdown with my peppermint that I got the same day. This was from summer of last year so not too old, but definitely older than a lot of my other teas!

Cheri

Chamomile on its own just isn’t very good. It needs something to go with it for sure.

MissB is to blame when I land in a tea coma because she sent me a package that I totally wasn’t expecting and SHE’S JUST THE BEST OKAY.
And she ended up giving me te rest of her package of this?!??! Ahh I was already planning on turning this into a sipdown, but I guess not!

This tea is great. Light green tea with jasmine flavouring. Just be careful about the steep times and the temp of the water because I think this specific green tea base is a bit sassy with all of that and can turn bitter pretty quickly. But if brewed correctly, it’s great!!

And I’m just really excited because spring break is near and I seriously need to figure out which teas to bring with me. So I laid out all my teas and I finally organized it all! I used to organize it by company, but now I just have a massive tin full of sipdowns (there’s like 46 teas in it okay I AM SO HAPPY) and a section full of high caffeine teas, and a section of low caffeine teas. Yeah, I live in a wee tiny apartment so like… this is as much space as I can dedicate to all my teas. BUT SIPDOWNS WILL HAPPEN! I’m probably going to bring a butt ton of sipdowns with me to bring back home :)

But yes. THIS IS A GREAT OOLONG AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH and when I get money, I’m totally going to buy more tea from Tea at Sea because that tea company is GREAT.

This is a sipdown, but the count doesn’t even matter because I FREAKIN JUST GOT LIKE 15 NEW TEAS FROM BONNY LIKE NO THIS IS GREAT BUT AHHH TEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEATEEEEAAAAAAAA

Tea right when I woke up this morning to make up for my lack of tea the past two days!
First time I had this tea, thank to MissB!
I actually made matcha without laughing my butt off this time ahaha. Last time, I had no idea what the heck I was doing. But this time, I seemed like I knew what I was doing :) I think I found the perfect cup to make my matcha in. It has a pretty wide mouth, and not as tall as my mugs. That’ll probably be my matcha cup since I hate drinking tea out of it because it’s a really thin glass and it just gets super hot when I use boiling water and whatnot.
BUT THIS TEA. Good? I think? Tasted like matcha, can’t really get the Irish Cream out of it, but it’s super good nonetheless :)

Dude. Disneyland.
I haven’t been to Disneyland since last year, and I haven’t been on Disney property since I left the Program. AHHH YESTERDAY WAS GREAT.

Tea rating guide:
100-90: Best thing to ever touch my mouth and I want more. Restocking is a must
89-80: Love this tea. Restock if I can
79-70: Decent tea. Neither love nor hate.
69-60: I won’t be upset when it runs out. I’ll drink it but won’t restock.
59-30: I’ve done whatever I can to like this tea and I’ll finish the cup.
29-10: I’ve done whatever I can to like this tea. It may or may not have gone down the sink…
9-below: Let’s not even hide it. This definitely went down the drain.

I love tea.
I drink it.
I log it.
I have a good time.
Lather, rinse, repeat.

I first discovered my love for tea with Jasmine because that’s all my mother would buy, so for the longest time, I thought that all teas were jasmine! And then in 4th grade, I watched the tea episode of Good Eats and that’s when the education started! I’d like to blame Alton Brown for starting this obsession because now I only like loose leaf tea.
It wasn’t until my second year of college that I actually expanded my tea taste buds. Special shout out to Cara McGee, Queen Tea for her Adagio Fandom blends. Because of Cara, I actually started drinking blacks, herbals and whites and pretty much everything else in between. I still have a special love for my jasmine though :)
I drink tea daily. Usually just straight up, no sugar or milk with the exception of chai. I like chai with just a wee dash of milk and a sprinkle of sugar! This little obsession started young and just… kept going, I guess. I have friends who think I have a problem with tea, but I really don’t. Everything is good in moderation.
I also have a mug buying problem and I’ve got Disney to blame for that. At least all my mugs are being put to good use!

also I apologize in advance for lazy tasting notes and horrible grammar in everything I write. I’m an avid fandom blogger on tumblr we have some weird way of talking to each other and sometimes I forget that this isn’t tumblr oops
