Cocomint Cream from DAVIDsTEA
83

So when I first heard of this tea, I was SO excited I had to tell my friend who is a huge coconut fan. COCONUT and MINT?! Weird combo but oh so interesting! When I got to smell the dry leaves at the store, I was actually disappointed. I’m not a mint fan and the mint smell was definitely there, somehow I was hoping it would be more coconutty. Anyways, that was probably 3 months ago when it first came out. On 12/12/12 (woohoo!) I went to a DAVIDsTEA with my friend who was celebrating her birthday and I treated her to a Red Velvet Cake latte (with a candle on top!). I also wanted to get myself a tea to go too. I thought out loud “Which tea would make a good soy latte?” The Tea Guide told me “Cocomint cream!” a little hesitant but also lazy to think of anything, I agreed to it.

IT WAS AMAZING.

So amazing that it convinced me to get myself a 100 gram tin the next time I dropped by a store.

I did brew it on it’s own as a straight tea and yes, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I did when it was a latte but it’s not bad.
The latte had a bit of agave added to it.

Something about the combination of the milk with the mint made it so creamy. Initial taste was almost similar to sipping into a mint ice cream but with a really pleasant coconut cream aftertaste.

I dislike strong mint teas, but this has sort of opened up some new doors for me.

Cocomint cream? High five to you, cocomint cream. YOU GO COCOMINT CREAM! (and a hi5 to you if you get my lame reference :P)

It IS good eh? I really should try it as a latte, especially since I have 100g of it too! (But I always need more caffeine-free options or I’ll be sipping at dessert blacks at 2am,and then… Y U NO sleep?)

Funny you say that because I wrote this at 2am sipping on a caffeinated tea haha! and I totally agree with caffeine-free options, I’ve been branching out of my usuals and herbals/rooibos blends have been my bffs for night time cravings.

Cocomint cream happens to be caffeine free so yay for us!

A tea newbie that typically enjoys plain teas (sencha/genmaicha green tea is a daily must have) and the occasional chai and london fogs but is willing to discover new flavors.

All thanks to DAVIDsTEA, I’ve rediscovered how fun tea consumption can be! So now I’m using Steepster as my own personal tea diary.

I usually try flavored teas straight first and then in a soy/almond latte with a tiny bit of sweetener (agave or honey). If it’s a fruit type tea, then after the initial straight taste test, I’d do it iced with a bit of sweetener.

My Aerolatte is my favorite tea tool. It’s cow printed too!
