87 Tasting Notes

Yuzu Temple from Mariage Frères
40

Brewed at 70°C in a big teapot.
I’m not a big fan of the Yuzu flavor. It was ok though, the flavor is strong enough without being overwhelming. This tea is only avaible in metal box for now, making it way over-priced.

2008 Wenshan Baozhong Subtropical Forest from Tea Masters Blog
86

Brewed in a zhong (10cl) : 25 – 30 – 45 – 60 – 1’30.
LIght and sweet, flowery with a strong after-taste.

2008 Dong Pian - Si Ji Chun from Tea Masters Blog
82

Brewed in a big Yixing teapot (70cl) – 5 mn – 90°C.
Very good, light with a flowery after-taste.

Etoile de Ba Jiao from Empire des Thes
52

Brewed in a big teapot – 5 mn/90°C. I find it ok for a tea at this price.
Very spicy with a slight anise taste. I’m used to drink it at work.

Tigre et dragon from Empire des Thes
35

Brewed in a big teapot. I found the ginger too strongly present, and the green base was so-so. Could be ok for an everyday tea though.

Dan Cong Phenix from Empire des Thes
75

Brewed in a small teapot (20cl) : 30s – 45s – 60s – 1’00 – 1’30.
Good tea, not awesome as I expected :)

The scent of the leaves is heavily roasted and I think this taste should be very present if overbrewed.

The after taste is fruity and woody/roasted, very strong and stay in the mouth for a long time. It tastes like peach in my opinion.

Good tea, a little overpriced I think.

82

I had another bag of this oolong :).
Brewed in a small teapot (20cl) : 30s – 45s – 60s – 75s.
Light and sweet.

Gibraltar from Le Palais des Thes
17

Brewed in a big teapot. 90°C.
The main taste comes from the black tea base, which I don’t really like.

2008 He Gang Ruby Red from Tea Masters Blog
93

When trying it the first time, 4 months ago, I found this tea had a taste of tomato and pretty nothing more to it.
I don’t know what happened with it but the taste has greatly improved, even the scent of dry leaves has changed.
Brewed in a small teapot (20cl) – 90°C : 30s – 45s – 1’00 – 2’00.
Excellent tea, taste of ripe fruits and little woody. Usually I don’t like red tea but this one is excellent.

Rooibos des Vahines from Le Palais des Thes
93

Brewed in a big teapot.
Best rooibos I’ve ever tasted, very easy to brew. A taste of vanilla and almond.
The tea is oily and smooth.
Very good.

Soiree d'hiver from Le Palais des Thes
17

Brewed in a big teapot.
The black tea base taste the same as all the other from Le Palais Des Thés …

Tie Guan Yin from Thes de Chine
65

Brewed in a small teapot (20cl) at 90°C : 30 – 35 – 45 – 1’00.
I tried to reduce the time of the first two infusions to lessen the roast taste and increase the fruity taste. It works but the roasted taste remains.

Epice Noire Cerise Sauvage from Empire des Thes
43

Brewed at 90°c. Drinked cold. Refreshing and a strong taste.
I like the rooibos, so easy to successfully brew them :)

Montagne Dong Ding from Thes de Chine
96

Brewed at 90°C in a small teapot (20cl).
4 brews : 30s – 45s – 60s – 2’00.

I tried putting more leaves than usual and the jasmin after taste was very present in the first brew.

Jasmin Mandarin from Thes de Chine
52

Brewed at 80°C.
I tried to do it in a small teapot instead of a zhong. I liked the taste better, it was more “round” I think.
Ok for a tea at this price.

Feng Huang Dan Cong from Thes de Chine
95

Brewed in a small teapot : 30s – 40s – 60s – 2’00.
Brewed with mineral bottled water.
After taste less strong than usual (I probably should have put more leaves)

Long Jing from Thes de Chine
88

I tried to brew it in a small Yixing (20cl) teapot. 80°C : 30s – 40s – 1’00.
Far better than with the zhong usual brew !
Fruity and less grassy.

Genmaicha from Le Palais des Thes
60

A classic genmaicha, brewed in a big teapot – 90°C.
Drinked while eating :)

Cooked Puerh (Fuhai Factory 2000) from Tea Masters Blog
86

5gr – small teapot (20 cl), 95°C with mineral bottled water :
rinsed one time – 35 – 40 – 45 – 60 – 1’30

Much better than with tape water.
First brew a little light, increase the brewing time next time :)

Brique de thé Pu-Erh du Yunnan (black tea compressé) from Mariage Frères
52
Note Bleue from Thes de Chine
46

Light fragrance, good for an every day tea.
