Chrysanthemum Green Tea from Bird Pick Tea & Herb
Biodynamic Darjeeling from The Persimmon Tree Tea Company
89

I forgot I had this one! It’s pretty great when you find a new tea in your stash. Anyways, this is an interesting tea. When I first poured it I thought it had a beautiful color! Kind of a pinkish then turns into a light brown. The flavor is very crisp. It’s very sweet, too. There is an undertone that reminds me of chamomile. It’s very subtle but it’s delicious! I’m getting a little bit of a bitter, dry aftertaste but it kind of adds to the flavor.

Caramel Apple from Zhena's Gypsy Tea
83

I have to admit.. I only bought this for the tin but the tea is actually pretty tasty! It’s smooth with apple and rooibos flavors. There’s even a hint of chamomile. The aftertaste is very smooth with hints of vanilla and caramel. mmm.. :]

Pumpkin Spice from Zhena's Gypsy Tea
88

I bought this one for the tin too… It’s cute :] This one is actually pretty strong in the spice and pumpkin flavors. VERY delicious blended with the rooibos. It’s creamy and smooth.

Bossa Nova from Zen Tea
95

A big thank you to Zen Tea!
I completely forgot I had this tea until I looked in my sample drawer. And I’m happy I did because it’s pretty dang good! This is a very delicious oolong. Definitely the first hazelnut/vanilla oolong I’ve had. It’s unique but I really like it. It’s a slightly buttery flavored tea and kind of creamy. The hazelnut fits nicely with the nuttiness of the oolong. You can taste the vanilla but it mostly rounds the edges of the nut flavor. MM this one is really delicious! If you like oolong teas then this one is a must try for you :]

Pu-erh Vanilla Mint from Zen Tea
100

Thank you to Zen Tea for sending me this!!
So… this is my second time trying to write this review… my computer freaked out and I lost the first one.. But anyways I’m not much of a mint person but this tea is fantastic! The mint is the first flavor you taste but it’s not too strong. The vanilla kind of mellows the mint and adds to the pu-erh. The pu-erh is definitely the dominant flavor. It’s very strong and earthy. The aftertaste has a touch of cinnamon and it makes the entire tea! The flavors blend well together and I could see myself drinking this every morning.

Energizing Chai from Zen Tea
76

Thank you to Zen Tea for sending this to me! It smells so good! I’ve never had a chai with coconut in it. I was also excited that it was pu-erh mixed with yerba mate!
For some reason when I try teas with coconut and chocolate they taste like plastic to me :[ and it’s ALL teas with chocolate and coconut. But I do know it’s just my taste buds because everyone I pass those teas on to LOVE them. Curse my taste buds :[
I’m getting a little bit of that with this tea but the chai makes it drinkable. I’m getting more of a chocolate chai with the weird coconut flavor after. It is a wonderful tea and I’m so happy I got to try it! But I give up on chocolate, coconut teas :[ And I’m still mad at my taste buds…

French Vanilla Matcha from Red Leaf Tea
94

Well, this is my last matcha of the night. French Vanilla! Which you can find here:
http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/french-vanilla-matcha.html

I’ve been on a search for a nice, frothy, creamy matcha and I’ve read in other reviews that this is the creamiest of the two vanillas. I opened this one with my friend and she mentioned that it smelled like frosting on cupcakes. It definitely does smell like frosting! Even whipped up it smells delicious.
Mm :] This is definitely the creamiest matcha I’ve had so far. It reminds me of a cupcake. Like the entire cupcake, not just the frosting. It’s very velvety and smooth. There is a slight bitterness but there is a sweet smoothness that blends it nicely. I could see myself blending this with a lot of the matchas I have already. And I can also see myself just drinking the entire thing plain!
I ordered the “delicate” flavoring on this one and I’m wishing I had gotten the “distinctive” option. The vanilla mixed with the matcha kind of reminds me of melted green tea ice cream. It’s great and all, but at the moment I’m just wanting the creamy vanilla.
I would recommend this flavor to anyone! I think it’s a great one to start with if you’re just starting to explore the exciting world of matcha. So I will leave you with a link to this wonderful, creamy matcha!

Goodnight fellow Steepsters!

Rose Matcha from Red Leaf Tea
95

When I was picking out my next matcha I had absolutely NO idea what to get. When I saw the Rose matcha I thought it would be something different and new to try. It also reminds me of my grandma Annie. She LOVED bright red roses. So that’s another reason I got it :] You can find it here:
http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/rose-matcha.html

When I opened the pouch I got a beautiful burst of rose. Very floral. It wasn’t really delicate like holding a rose to your nose but more like spraying a really expensive rose perfume. It was refreshing after all of the fruit and dessert flavors.
The flavor of this is just as nice as the smell. It’s very different, obviously. I feel like there should be rose petals floating along with the bubbles. It tastes like there is a nice handful of them in here. It starts out a bit bitter but ends on a delicate, sweet note. The taste is quite floral and it mixes so well with the matcha. It really brings out the grassy/vegetal side of it.
This is definitely a unique matcha and a must try if you like floral tasting teas. I will admit, it’s one that you have to be in an adventurous mood but it’s 100% worth it! It’s such a lovely tea! And you can order it here:
http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/rose-matcha.html

Pear Matcha from Red Leaf Tea
92

Can you tell I got my awesome Red Leaf Tea order today? WELL I decided to try pear because I’ve nothing but great things about it. And you can find it here:
http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/pear-matcha.html

When I opened the package I got a fruity burst of pear in my face! Mm it was delightful. It made my whole apartment smell like pear. And it only took me about 27 minutes to figure out where the smell was coming from. As I’m sitting here waiting for it to cool all I smell is sweet, sweet pear. It is pretty fantastic.
Ok. Here goes the first sip… Red Leaf has done it again… This pear matcha is extremely delicious! It tastes like a really, really ripe pear. Like when you let it get to it’s ultimate point of sweetness. It’s so sweet and juicy! Once again I got the “delicate” flavor option but I really feel like it works. The flavors don’t hide behind each other in this one. They work together to create this fabulous fruity, vegetal flavor. The juiciness of the pear brings out the natural sweetness in the matcha. This is a very unique matcha and I’d recommend it to anyone! I will leave the link for you:

Banana Matcha from Red Leaf Tea
93

I just want to say a gigantic THANK YOU to Red Leaf Tea for having this matcha sale. It has really opened my eyes to the magical world of matcha.
Here is a magical link:
http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/banana-matcha.html

Ok. So when I went to Red Leaf’s website I was stumped on which matcha to try next so I let my boyfriend pick one. He suggested we try the banana next (even though he HATES bananas. Weird? Yes). So I got my awesomtastic Red Leaf package today and decided to try this one first. The smell is so fantastic. It reminds me of that banana Runts(I think someone mentioned that in a different review). It smells so sweet it made me flash back to the good old times when my cousins and I used to fight over the bag of runts to get to the rare banana ones. Oh, memories.
The first sip was magical. It does taste like bananas but with a sweet twist. It’s obviously an artificial banana taste but it’s very well done. It has that banana runt taste to it too. I got the “delicate” flavoring and I’m happy I did! The banana is very strong and works VERY well with the matcha and it’s natural sweetness. This is definitely not for you if you want the more natural banana taste. But it most definitely is for you if you’re looking for something sweet and don’t feel like digging through a bag of runts for the banana ones :] So if you are that person I will gladly leave the link for you again:

Thank you again Red Leaf Tea!!!! :D

Cookies & Cream Matcha from Red Leaf Tea

Valentines from Adagio Teas

I’ve had this one sitting in my cupboard for a some time now. I decided I’d finally drink the rest of it and just let it go for good. The last time I drank this I thought “ew, this isn’t very good”. But now I’m thinking “woah! Why haven’t I drank this?” It’s actually pretty good now. Black tea with subtle tastes of chocolate and strawberry. It made a nice pot while cleaning.

Organic Moroccan Mint from Tea District

Thanks TeaEqualsBliss!!
Lately I haven’t been a fan of mint teas but this one called to me today. It smells amazing. I find the mint a bit overpowering though. I couldn’t really catch any gunpowder or floral tastes. But as it cooled a bit more they started to come out, but sadly still slightly overpowered. I still liked this tea though :] I could see myself enjoying it when I’m in need of something mellow to relax with.

Rooibos Toffee Tide from Drink T
91

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss!!
Mm this tea smells so good! It’s been a lazy morning and this has just added to the awesomeness of it :] It’s sweet and creamy. It has a bit of a nutty taste to it and it’s kind of buttery. The taste is very mellow and it works for this tea and the fact it’s rooibos. This is probably one of the better rooibos teas I’ve had in a minute.

Chocolate Vanilla Twist from BigTeaHouse.com
96
Plum n' Chunmee from BigTeaHouse.com
83

Wow! First review for this tea! Well I think I steeped this a little too long. It’s a tad bitter. But it is my fault. I tried to race the timer and clean out my teapot.. I lost.. anyways, the leaves of this tea are beautiful. The flavor is nice too. It has a smoke taste to it followed by a sweetness. It’s kind of a dry taste. I can see why this shouldn’t be steeped too long. The smokiness hides the gentle green tea and plum. It’s definitely different but I’m happy I ordered it.

Grape Matcha from Red Leaf Tea
90
Vanilla Spice Perfect Energy from Yogi Tea
91

MMM the first time I tried this I cold brewed it. I was at work and in need of something besides water. It was sooo creamy and delicious. It was strong too. So I was excited to try it hot :] It’s still creamy and delicious! Only hot. And paired with yogurt pretzels. Mm especially when they’re dipped in my tea. They get all melty and add some extra flavor to the tea. BEST SNACK EVER

Hojicha Stalk from Teanobi

A big thanks to TeaEqualsBliss!
I thought this was such an interesting tea when I saw it! I was a bit frightened because I had NO idea how to brew it. But I opened the little baggie and I smelled a little roasty flavor :] Mm the flavor of this tea is so delicious. It’s very roasty tasting. It has a sweet aftertaste but is still kind of woodsy, too. It has a little bit of a nut flavor. It reminds me of brazil nuts because of the slight buttery taste they have in common. MM I’m so happy I got to try this!

Caramel Matcha from Red Leaf Tea
95
Roasted Yerba Mate from Jennifer's Tea Garden
97

Mm this tea was a perfect choice this morning!
Thanks again TeaEqualsBliss!

Cookies & Cream Matcha from Red Leaf Tea
100

So about a week ago I was having a really, really bad night. I came home, made myself a huge pot of tea and started browsing the internet. Well I accidentally hit a button and it went to red leaf’s website. I was slightly annoyed by this until I saw it… COOKIES AND CREAM MATCHA!!! My eyes widened and then I blacked out. I do remember being super happy seeing it. And apparently I ordered it because it was in my mailbox a week later. You can also order it here:
http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/cookies-and-cream-matcha.html

Anyways, it smells SO good. I saved this to be the last matcha I tried today and I’m happy. Cookies and cream is one of my favorite flavors so when I saw they had a matcha flavored one.. it completely turned my bad night around :] I ordered the “distinctive” flavoring on this one and I’m happy I did. It’s so creamy and sweet. The matcha is now the one hiding behind the cookies and cream. It almost reminds me of a melted cookies and cream hershey bar(my favorite candy in the ENTIRE WORLD!) Well I think that this matcha has found it’s way into my permanent matcha collection. This is a wonderful one if you’re looking for that extra touch of creaminess! Ready… Set… Go buy it!!

Grape Matcha from Red Leaf Tea
90

So as I was searching for the next amazing matcha to buy I stumbled across this one. I had a lot of the dessert ones so I thought I’d give a fruit flavor a try :] Grape!! Which you can buy here:
http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/grape-matcha.html

When I opened the package I was expecting more of a natural grape smell. But then the sweet, grape candy smell hit me. Mm it smells like grape bubblegum! Even as I was whisking it I got bursts of it. Ok.. here it goes, the first sip.. Oh man, it even tastes like grape candy. Like I have said in my other matcha reviews, if you get the “delicate” option the flavor sneaks in at the end or slightly behind the matcha. I feel like the matcha and the grape blend well together though. They compliment each other. The sweetness of the grape goes nicely with the slight sweetness/vegetal tastes of the matcha. I think I finally found my “go to” matcha when I’m craving candy. Except next time I might go for the “distinctive” flavoring. You can never get too much grape!
This is a great matcha if you are looking for something that tastes sugary, sweet with a little fruit flavor. Again here is the link you can buy it at:

Bio

I love camping, longboarding, listening to and making music, hiking, yoga, cooking, the color blue, The Beatles, and of course the wonderful world of tea!
My journey with tea started about a year and a half ago. Since then I’ve learned a lot and that my favorites include oolongs, pu-erhs, and silver needle. I love a good dessert tea but I have found recently that I’m craving pure teas more and more! I look forward to learning a lot more from my fellow Steepsters :]
