I went to a friend’s house and had this. It was delicious and I enjoyed the coconut and ginger. I’m not a huge fan of green teas since they always turn bitter for me, but they always seem easier to steep when they are in a bag. I didn’t need to put honey or sugar in it.

When I saw there were The Hunger Games teas, this was the first one I wanted to buy. I love white teas, chai, and Finnick… what could go wrong? The smell of the tea straight out of the bag is perfect. It is mostly the smell of chai and coconut, but it really does smell so delicious.

The tea smells a little less intense, and I steeped it until it was a nice light yellow color. It is such a delicious tea. I taste the white tea but the chai adds a nice spice to it without being too overpowering. I am pretty picky with white tea blends but this is a combination that I’m pleased with. Even while typing this I keep stopping to take more sips, because I like it that much. I can tell the coconut is there because of the distinct flavor it has when paired with white tea… and it makes it a little less thin as well!

I also bet this tea will be good for multiple steeps, which makes it even more amazing!

This is such a strong smelling tea! Opening the bag I got a huge whiff of sweetness! It smells like strawberries and chocolate with cream… just like the teas used! It’s so sweet-smelling I feel like I’m getting a toothache just from smelling it. I can see how this is an effie tea.

The tea smells just as sweet as it did in the bag. It’s a very overpowering smell, and I hope the tea is more mellow. It’s a light color, amber-ish. Any lighter and it would look pink and would definitely remind me of effie!

The taste is sweet, but not as overwhelming as its smell. I taste the cream and the almonds, and the hint of rose. This tea needs no sweetener, it’s already sweet enough. It’s not a taste i’m used to, since for the past 4 months I’ve been drinking pure oolongs and white teas… but the cream and chocolate flavors gives it body. I like this, but I’m wondering if maybe I understeeped it… or put too much water in for the amount I used. It feels like it’s missing something, but I’m not sure what.

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these but I miss tealogging! It’s a cold day so I figured some of this tea would be perfect to warm me up.

The color is a nice amber gold color, and it smells tropical. The most prominent flavor I get is the green tea, which is a little bitter (maybe the water was a little too hot… oops!). I do taste the black currant but the papaya is not really there. I’m also a little unfamiliar with papaya’s flavor.

This tea is still really delicious, but I’m not surprised since it is from 52teas.

Another log from tonight — I visited the Harney&Sons soho store (to buy a gift and restock my da hong pao) and figured i’d try to get a white tea. After having so many of 52teas flavored teas with a bai mu dan i’ve been trying to find it. The nice guy at the store pointed it out to me and made me some to try. It was SO delicious. The flavor was subtle and was not grassy or vegetable-like at all. I can’t wait to start steeping this for myself so that I can experiment with the steeping parameters :)

I was in NYC and my friend pointed out that there’s an argo tea lounge, and we went after dinner. I decided I HAD to have this after they gave me a sample. I had it with skim milk.

It was so delicious! I couldn’t really taste the white tea flavor but it was very winterlike with the milk, chocolate, and mint flavors. I felt like I was drinking a starbucks holiday special drink but it was much less heavy and bloating. I’m sure if a different tea was used it wouldn’t work as well, since white tea has a pretty subtle flavor it adds body to the drink without overpowering it. I will definitely get this again if i’m there and its in season. SO DELICIOUS!

Wasn’t planning on logging this since i already have & I took a sleeping pill so i’m falling asleep, but the parameters this time were PERFECT. water that had been boiled and cooled off a little bit , for about 4 or so minutes… The taste is just really good. The apple gives it a spicy kick while the chamomile is very soothing. upping my rating.

I drank a lot of fresh mint leaves from the garden over the summer, and have had dried leaves sitting in my cupboard for a while now. I’ve been feeling a little stressed since it’s the end of my term and I’ve been heading for the mint stash.

Yum! This isn’t as good as when I had it with fresh leaves… the flavor is so much more intense. I put in about a teaspoon which I think was a good amount. No sweetner or anything added. It’s just flat out mint, and it really tastes so delicious. It’s really soothing my stomach as well.

I wonder if mint is re-steepable…. ;)

Drank this tea with the housemates tonight. I’ve been drinking it a lot recently (along with black currant white tea). This tea is definitely a house favorite though. Every time I ask them what tea i should make they always request “the apricot one!”. It’s just so perfect after having a huge house dinner and it light, soothing, and the apricot flavor is sweet but not overpowering the taste of the tea.

Backlogging. Drank this in the morning. I only have 2 more black tea samovar samples left, and this was one I was holding off to drink expecting it to be good.

It was definitely a good cup, strong, malty, delish… but after having so many other black teas from samovar it’s just not that special overall.

My samovar samples are dwindling down and I’ve really been avoiding this one, especially after drinking the lapsang sample from golden moon tea.

It smells super smoky. Tastes smoky as well, but it’s not that bad. It has a sort of sweetness to it, unless that’s from my sugar. There is definitely a smoky aftertaste as well. It’s definitely not a tea I like very much, but for it being smoky i think it’s pretty good :)

I’ve been feeling gross lately, and I went for the white tea sampler :)

It smells silver needle…ish. I almost wish they were a little more specific with what type of “white tea” it is. hmmm not bad. I think i might have steeped it too long. The color came out pretty dark, and it has a slightly bitter flavor to it. I’m getting some of the chrysanthemum flavor, which i’m not a huge fan of. This is a good cup, but I’ve drank so many better white teas before.

I’ve been really avoiding this sample. But I figured i need to get it out of the way. I’ve never had a pu-erh before, so this will be interesting.

The smell is pretty strong, but it’s hard to place what exactly it smells like.

Hmmm, not sure how i feel about this. It’s got some smoky flavor, but it kind of tastes like dirt. seriously, like dirt. It has some sweetness to it that reminds me of badly flavored bubble gum… which is leaving an aftertaste in my mouth. I think i’ll somehow manage to finish this cup but I don’t know if i’ll even bother with a second infusion—can pu-erh be steeped multiple times anyway? I’m assuming it can be…

I had this sitting to cool off, when the fire alarm went off (thanks to the dryer) so I brought this outside with me to keep me warm~

It is a great flavor for a black tea. I didn’t think lychee could work in a tea but it worked. The flavor wasn’t too strong, but it was night lighter flavor for a black tea. I really enjoyed it. On my second cup of it now and the lychee flavor is a little stronger, and I’m not liking it as much… But this is definitely a really great tea. I feel like steeping it for 2 minutes versus 4 makes the lychee flavor less prominent?

Yesterday was a big day. Had a tea party, made lots of food, and then went out all night. I need a caffeine kick to do homework… samovar sample again! I really am going to place an order with them when i’m done. They are just too good.

not a bad taste. It’s got a spiciness to it, and there is some sweetness to it which i’m not a huge fan of. It has sort of a weird aftertaste as well. The sweetness from the fruit give it a somewhat tart taste, but it is hardly noticeable. It’s not a bad tea, but it’s not amazing.

It’s a really cold night so I’m staying in, and making another samovar sample :)

omg. This is so good. It’s light, and has a malty flavor to it. I think I’m realizing that I love yuunan leaves. This has such a great flavor to it I can’t even describe it. Such a delicious cup.

Just brewed a pot of this and split it with my housemate, and she obviously likes it.

Still waiting for my cup to cool down but the tea smells really strong of apricot. I’m not a huge fan of apricot but I knew that this blend would be a good one.

Mmmm, yeah, this tea is absolutely delish. I can taste some apricot, but it’s not overpowering and the teas stand out more. I definitely taste the white tea and some green in there… but overall it’s just a great blend. There is a slight aftertaste from the apricot, but, it’s not that bad.

I got this from Jaime in the take it away thread, and figured it’d be perfect for my sickness right now.

Not really tasting much, but there is some apple i’m tasting. I’ve found that chamomile teas are pretty bland. Maybe that’s just the kind i’ve been drinking. Not a bad overall flavor though, The apple flavor is a nice touch to this tea. It’s a perfect choice right now when i really just want a soothing, mellow, tea :)

I’ve been feeling sickish lately, so I don’t know how good my taste buds are, but I really wanted some samovar black tea :) sample time!

I can’t really say how it smells because I am completely congested. Added skim milk & equal.

Hmmm, this is kind of strange. I can’ really taste much of it but what I do it doesnt taste so good. I’m getting some sour notes which I’m pretty sure is from the citrus. The tea also has a weird grainy texture to it, or maybe thats just me. I’m going to chalk this up to my lack of taste buds right now and the fact that me and flower teas never really seem to get along and say this is not so good. I’ll hold off on a rating for now though.

I am going through these samovar samplers so fast. I will be sad once i have no more.

wow. This is so light, and I thought I had almost oversteeped it! Even with skim milk and sugar this tea still is so light, but so absolutely delicious. It has a malty, creamy taste to it. I almost wish there was more flavor to it. But as a softer black tea this is so delish!

Just got this in the mail! I couldn’t wait to try it :) The smell of the tea just smells fruity in general, can’t really seem to pick out any specific smells.

Wow, this tastes pretty good. Definitely very fruity, but i like how i still taste green tea in it. Something is giving me a weird aftertaste, i think it might be the ginger? I think I should have let it steep a little longer though, the flavor is pretty subtle right now. That’s what second steeps are for :P

MMMMM. this first sip is just so nice. exactly what i needed for a caffeine kick. It has sweetness to it and still has nice black flavor to it. just wow. The lemon flavor is a little weird, giving a sour aftertaste sometimes but still this tea is just so delicious!

I’ve been exhausted all day, seems all I do is homework. Still need to get work done, so time for some more black tea samplers ;)

The smell of this is not too appetizing. It smells smoky, but the rooibos smell is strong as well. I’m not sure whether milk and sugar would go well with this because of the rooibos, so I’m trying it first without—not bad, I could definitely drink this on its own. The harshness of black tea subdued by the rooibos flavor, and the smokyness gives a nice kick to it.

Adding some sugar made the tea just sweet enough to really enjoy. I think I’ll try adding milk to my second steep… if it comes out well. So far the samovar black samplers have lasted 2~4 infusions just like the package says. I’m not used to resteeping black teas.

The tea smells very strong and somewhat smoky. Added some skim milk and equal, and wow this tea tastes pretty good. It’s got some sweetness to it, but still has a strong bite to it (in a good sense). I’m not getting much of a smoky flavor, which is what I prefer. It’s a very ‘comfortable’ tea. It makes me feel warmer just drinking it. I’m really enjoying this flavor.
