6106 Tasting Notes
I probably needn’t have picked up a cinnamon black, because I have lots to choose from, but I’m glad I picked this up to sample, anyhow. It does, truly, have that snickerdoodle cookie smell, which includes not just cinnamon, but brown sugar and cookie flavourings. Pretty tasty, again.

Review for the new 52teas reblend.
This tea is quite true to the original, IMO. The biggest difference is a less finicky base tea; the flavourings are definitely very similar, which is good, because I previously enjoyed this tea! Lots of cola, some cherry, and a solid black base.

Enjoyed this tea enough at the Toronto meet-up that I picked up my own bag of it. No regrets. It’s a great black tea; I enjoy the bold base (picked up some astringency but that would be me oversteeping/overleafing… it’s much more tolerant than other black bases I’ve tried), and it truly does taste like banana bread. Complete with bready flavours and ripe banana. I don’t really like banana bread, but I enjoy this tea. Haha.
Good, but not my ultimate banana tea. I like the base, as well as the banana, but I think I would prefer a creamier base oolong (shanlinxi?) and butterscotchy flavours. The banana is a bit on the unripe side, which IMO, is perfect (conversely, in Hot Buttered Banana Bread, it tastes very ripe, which is excellent). Does not taste like banana runts the way that banana teas often do (this makes me happy).
Only really got through a few sips before leaving work (meant to go back but didn’t end up doing so tonight), so these are just my first impressions.
Preparation
Sent as a free sample in my 52teas order. Flavour/aroma instantly reminded me of Strawberry White from DavidsTea, but there’s something else in here (likely the butter flavouring) that I can taste as well. The base is noticeable and tastes like a standard white (no play-dough smell though, which is good). The tea is extremely fluffy and I was very pleased that it arrived quite intact.
Overall, no issues with the tea but it’s not a flavour favourite for me anymore. I feel like some vanilla/custardy flavourings would have worked very well here (but would have made it a different tea).
Preparation
I almost didn’t buy this, which would have been a mistake. This is a fascinating (and tasty!) tea! Super not in the mood to write tea notes right now though, so briefly – it tastes very fresh, of cucumber and cantaloupe, but not TOO fresh (I don’t like artificial cucumber water for that reason. Blech). A bit of sweetness for the cantaloupe, but just a bit. Surprisingly accurate AND tasty. No noticeable oolong in first infusion.
Second infusion; definitely can taste the oolong. TGY might have been a more obvious choice for the base, but I think the decision to go with a roasted oolong here is what turned this tea from mediocre to great, because a TGY would have been too floral, too vegetal. Can still taste the cucumber-cantaloupe.
Overall extremely impressed with the flavour and execution of this tea. Somewhat sad that it now appears to be sold out, but it’s probably not one I’d go for often anyhow.
Preparation
That’s one of the reasons why I chose the Qilan base instead of the TGY – I liked the toasty and fruity notes of the Qilan and I felt like the TGY would have been more on the vegetal side and with the cucumber already having a vegetal note, I wanted something to enhance the fruity notes of the melon a little more. Thanks!
Drank some of this tonight; I’m not sure if I just didn’t use enough tea/didn’t steep long enough, but it really has almost no flavour. A bit like… celery, almost, but kind of cardboardy? It’s strange. I really enjoyed the deep baked GABA oolong (that I have not written a note about), so I had high hopes for this. I’ll try again another evening.
