This brewed up pretty musky… reminds me of over-ripe cantaloupe and alfalfa hay. There’s something weird and tropical in the scent… papaya maybe? A weird sticky sweetness. And it has a hint of grassiness like a green tea. The other comments on here make me think I may have oversteeped this… I’ll play around with the rest of my sample, but thus far this is not my favorite oolong I’ve tried.

Sublime! This is the palest yellow-green in the cup, smells and tastes of white rice, honey, and flowers. Light and nectar-like. I may have to make a permanent spot in my life for this or another pouchong.

This reminds me of a mushroom artichoke heart marsala pasta dish I’m fond of making—rich and smooth with a big hit of umami, a slight saltiness reminiscent of a hard aged cheese, and a fruity winey sweetness in the background. I dig it!

Strong and smoky and sweet the first time around, perfect with eggs for breakfast, with plenty of kick for a slightly mellower but still sublime second steep!

First sample from the Adagio white sampler pack. The dry leaves smell distinctly of timothy hay. The leaves are darker than I was expecting, but having very little experience with white teas, I’m not sure what my expectations are based on exactly… Brewed, the liquor smells of honey—but a strong wildflower honey, not the stuff that comes in the squeezy bear—and is colored similar. The honey and floral notes come through prominently in the taste, with a pear-like crispness on the finish. Though the flavor is pretty delicate, this has a nice full, almost creamy mouthfeel. Highly enjoyable!

drank Lapsang Souchong by Twinings

I love smoky teas, but this is a little too much like drinking pine tar. It leaves a harsh feeling in my throat and feels like it should be carcinogenic. It’s not a bad bagged smoky tea and I would happily drink this for convenience’s sake, but I’m keeping my eyes peeled for a better bagged lapsang souchong.
