No.
Oh no.
This was supposed to be a treat for trying the lapsang, but it was a punishment. I don’t know if it’s gotten funky or if I screwed it up, but it was bitter and harsh and the flavor did nothing for me. Into the tea sale pile it goes!!

I seem to recall that this was one of the DTs that was very picky with the base, so I gave it only 2 minutes. (Others are fine at the 4-7 they recommend, but not this.)
Lynxie, maybe, but the experience was awful enough that I’m not willing to give it another try. Life’s too short for bad tea.
Kittenna – yeah, I give all my black teas 2 minutes at just under boiling.
It’s okay, it’s being passed on to a sister in law who loved it, so it won’t be going to waste and I won’t feel like I have to drink it. Thank goodness for relatives we can foist tea onto!
XD It’s very easy. Simply ask “Do you like tea?” If they say yes, great! If they say no, respond with “You do now!”, hand them several bags of loose leaf and an infuser and walk away quickly so they cannot hand it back. That is how I converted most of my family! Heck, my mom (a great believer in Celestial Seasonings) requested that I bring more Lapsang when we go to visit over Christmas! Just steadily peck away at them and eventually they will relent XD
The problem might be more that I don’t see most of my relatives, therefore foisting is more difficult! I do have a stash that I’m taking to my mom, but she tends to drink tea fairly slowly (she resteeps the crap out of teas), and I can foist off rooibos/honeybush blends and some other herbals on my boyfriend’s mom, but that’s about it. I am working the friend angle though, with moderate success!
I feel you there, my mom is in Tennessee and I’m here in Toronto! My inlaws are close, though, Mississauga. But oh my gosh my mother in law. Big believer in Red Rose. For four years we’ve been trying to get her to try loose leaf. She’s always very polite, but never really goes for it. She ran out of Red Rose and a friend of hers gave her some orange pekoe from Davids and she loves it. “Oh, it really goes a long way, doesn’t it? And it’s so tasty!”
…headdesk Yes. That is what we have been telling you for years. >.<
I turned all of my coworkers into tea addicts, and I was their supplier…and then I quit and moved to Scarborough, ha!
Maybe the Lapsang Sounchong affected your tastebuds temporarily?

I think I need to acquire more of those! :P
