This tea rates up there with Bravissimo in happiness-inducing for me. I always forget I have it, or when I glance at it, I keep on looking because it doesn’t seem that spectacular to me. But when I do give it a go, I melt. The cinnamon is perfect, just a little burn without overwhelming everything else. Like others have said, it reminds me of little cinnamon candies. My grandma used to make sugar cookies for Christmas and decorate them with those little Red Hots…it was my favorite part! This tea brings up that memory and those good feelings for me. I definitely need to remember how much I love it.

As usual with delicate teas, I liked it more and more as it cooled off. Right now it’s nearly ice-cold and I love it, whereas a few hours ago when it was hot, I didn’t care for it. I need to just stop trying to drink them hot.

I find the same. It’s interesting how some flavors seem to be uncovered by the cold. Good thing I have kids who keep me from drinking my tea while it’s hot. Otherwise, I’d never know that this alternate tea universe exists! I’m glad I’m not the only inhabitant.

My wife teases me endlessly for it, but it’s usually an hour or two after I make the tea that I actually start drinking it >.<.

I don’t understand how people can drink a tea when it’s super hot right after brewing. We get the best of all worlds when we wait because we can sip it at various points while it’s warm and sit to enjoy it when it’s fully cooled and fully flavored. Does your wife drink tea, too? If so, then maybe you can convince her that it’s really better when you wait to drink it. ;)

Last Christmas, my aunt-in-law sent us a pretty, but vaguely useless, hot chocolate maker. Okay, gee, thanks, putting on a shelf for the rest of ever.

However, one part turned out to be extremely useful…a milk frother! (Some people are apparently far too intense about their hot cocoa, especially since the instructions included using cocoa from Swiss Miss.) Anyway, this allowed me to experiment with making lattes at home! Yay!

This is my second one, because I love this tea, even though I’m afraid of it. 9/10 it turns out bitter for me, but when I do manage to get it right…yum. It’s the tea that made me love DavidsTea.

My latte actually turned out a bit weak, but it was a resteep of my wife’s bag this morning and I only left it in for 2.5-3 minutes (again, fear of bitterness, I has it). But it turned out tasty enough to encourage me to try again! Maybe I’ll have my wife make the actual tea part when she gets home….she knows this tea better than I do. But the creamy vanilla mixes so beautifully with the milk and it just….mmm. Yes, I definitely need to try this again.

I used about two tablespoons of plain soy milk and a teaspoon of sugar (I know, I know).

Taking the rating down a lot, the more I sipped this tea, the more I hated it. The cooler it got, the faker it tasted…blegh.

Every time my wife and I go grocery shopping, I slow down in the tea aisle and look out of force of habit. Since discovering looseleaf, I don’t use bags unless it’s my only option, so there’s really no point in me looking. It’s part tea snobbery and part common sense. If I know for a fact that I don’t enjoy bagged teas, why waste my money on them?

I started to walk away and my wife goes, “Honey, look! Goji Berries!” Mmm….goji berries. That’s almost enough to tempt me, but then she added, “with raspberries!” and I was lost. I live for raspberries. I wish DT had more (or better) raspberry teas. So we picked up a box.

It smells yummy, but it also smells….fake? I dunno, the fruit smell didn’t smell like raspberries much, it smelled like what candy companies think raspberry is supposed to smell and taste like.

It’s not terrible, but the fakeness carries over to the brewed tea. It tastes kinda bland with little to no tea flavor, which is to be expected. I think I might let it get cold and try it the, since I tend to like the delicate teas more when they’re cold. It might be good for flavoring sun tea, but I don’t think I’ll keep it in stock. I also think I’ve just been spoiled by DavidsTea flavoring their tea with actual Goji berries.

I think I love goji berries (goji pop!) but am not nuts for raspberries. Strawberries are my berry love. Anyway, be sure to stay far away from David’s Tea’s raspberry nectar if you don’t want a terrible disappointment. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a tea from DT with raspberry flavour I could taste.

Daddyselephant

Yeah, I have some of the raspberry nectar and while it’s tasty, it is in no way raspberry, which is very sad. I’m a sucker for all things Goji, though.

Formerly aisling of tea, now you can call me ele .

“You can forgive a murder, but never a mistake while preparing tea.” Chinese proverb

Labels? Here you go: Femme, Wife, Lesbian, Homemaker, Happy. Don’t forget tea fanatic!

New label as of May, 2015: Diabetic. I’m using tea to satisfy my sweet tooth cravings and keep me hydrated without hurting my system or messing with my blood sugar.

Ah, tea. My love for you is ever changing. At my last update, I was all about the rooibos and now I hardly drink it. I only occasionally had an oolong and now I have one just about every day. I’ve learned the art of resteeping and coldbrewing and kombucha. I have a lovely little tea pet named…well, I haven’t decided on a name for him yet. I also have five! live pets, a tabby cat named Rosabella Francis (Bella for short), a ginger cat named Orange Julius Pekoe (Pekoe), a white and grey cat named Earl Jean Grey (Earlie), a tuxedo cat (and the only boy in the house) Prince Erik Darien Darjeeling (JiJi) and a red foot tortoise named Da Hong Pao (Pao). So if you see me referring to my girls, I don’t have kids, just animals.

As for tea, I love oolongs, herbals, and black tea. Since I am no longer working, I no longer feel the constant need for a mate energy boost, though I do still reach for it from time to time. I also drink less matcha, though I do throw a spoonful or two in when I’m making smoothies. Most of my tea I drink coldbrewed, and since I discovered coldbrewed rooibos was giving me headaches, I’m drinking less and less of it. Straight pu-erh is not a thing I enjoy, but there are a few flavored blends I like. Greens are still too finicky for me to bother with hot, but they make great cold brews.

I am by no means a tea purist. I greatly enjoy flavored teas and I put stevia in all of my teas. It’s just how I do.

I think I’m going to name my tea pet Mr. Turtle. Even though he’s a tortoise.
