Perfectly balanced; the absence of artificial flavours makes a cup that is so natural and pleasant, filled with gentle but satisfying lemony notes and a slight ginger “tickle” that makes the difference.

The liquorice root, wich I usually can’t stand, remains in the background and does not disturb at all.

Well, seems that I have a problem with NBTea flavoured teas.

I found this tea simply awful. I know and appreciate very much the “real” flavour of lychee (I mean, the fruit itself), but when I opened the bag I smelled a horrible false and clearly artificial aroma of… uhm… strawberries? or something similar. Nothing – really nothing! – to do with lychee: maybe flavoured chewingum, or jellies, but definitely not lychee.

Didn’t like it at all. I found this blend like a cup of hot water with just a hint of (bad) orange flavour and no sign of puerh aromas. Too weak for me, and very poor in taste.

I found intense aromas of red fruits and berries in this tea: sweet and bold smells of dark grapes and wild strawberries come out as soon as the leaves are heated, and they’re still present in the flavour, although in a very thinner way.

The liquor has a sort of wonderfully elegant violet hue, that I love particularly.

Once infused, the aroma of the leaves remembers me of herbs, like rosemary… or sage: yes, definitely sage. It’s like a walk in the countryside, just at the edge of woods.

I think it’s a pleasantly complex tea and a good example of aged Dancong.

Be particularly careful during the infusion if you want it to speak clearly, ’cause it could sometimes seems a bit too faint in the mouth.

Love the scent of this tea, so deep and intoxicating yet “natural”, not overpowering, differently from other jasmine teas I’ve tried (maybe they were artificially scented, with hindsight). The aroma is “sparkling” in the nose like a cup of champagne!

The flavour is more delicate yet lively: sweet and floral, with soft spring honey notes, like fresh dew that has dripped onto jasmine petals.
The gentle vegetal note of the tea buds is still present in the background: jasmine scent doesn’t outclass it.
Then I found a surprisingly wild fennel note around the third infusion: so fresh, almost balsamic in the mouth.

I used a level teaspoon of pearls for about 150ml of water.

Definitely a tea to try :-)
