finally gave up on this one. put it in the staff lounge in case someone else might like it.
766 Tasting Notes
Finished this one off, too! Glad to have a decaf for the 7:45 cup of tea. Added some sweetener since I was skeptical of decaf and it turned out about as you’d expect. Probably won’t order again since I don’t normally particularly like either decaf or vanilla, but was glad to have this option when I was pregnant and nursing!
I’m not drinking tea as much lately as I used to. My Steepster use has shifted from documenting every drink to documenting unusual ones. And documenting when the tea has left my cupboard. And that’s what happened with this one.
I really love the Adagio Hazelnut tea, and enjoyed the Almond as well. It’s not quite as good to me as the Hazelnut one, but that’s probably because I prefer hazelnut to almond in general. It’s a good cup and one I’d like to replace one day… once I’ve gotten my tea stash to a reasonable level.
I am excited about the Insider Tea Club, and I am excited about this tea! I am using a small, 4oz, teapot for this, to allow for multiple resteeps and forces attention to each sip. I am doing this note from memory, so I look forward to documenting the next one a bit more clearly. What I remember most about this first pass was the smooth mouthfeel and the pale color. It was also slightly sweet. In fact, I wondered if the instructions were spot on due to the pale color, but really, the instructions were perfect. This is FAR better than I expected! I didn’t have high hopes (I love Den’s Extra Green, and nothing I’ve had in the genre has lived up to that one), but it was a great cup!

Based on reviews, I was expecting awful. So it was a pleasant surprise when I could easily drink the entire cup!
This was FAR better than I expected it to be! The cranberry wasn’t overpowering, but it was present. It smells great. I’m looking forward to more!
This tea has a bit more of a “fresh” feel to it than I would expect. I guess it’s from the actual candy canes that are in the tea. (Really! I saw several, with tea stuck to them, in the tin.)I think the thing I like most about this tea is that it’s clearly tea with peppermint in it, rather than a minty tisane that has some tea to it.
I am such a sucker for samplers. I just ordered the adagio holiday stocking stuffer set that included this and five others. It’s good, though I think it could use some sweetener. It actually makes me think back to the hazelnut tea (it’s not quite the same, but reminds me of it) and makes me think I might need to order a larger quantity of that one.
After yesterday’s day-long-pot-of-oolong extravaganza, I thought I’d try the same for this tea (I had a sample of it to finish up as well). And I have to say, it just makes me miss the Hawaiian Oolong. It’s good, and it’s clearly an oolong, but it just lacks a hint of the sweetness and butteriness that I came to expect after yesterday. I won’t be ordering more, though I am minutes away from caving and making another pot of the Hawaiian one.
(I could tell this tea wasn’t hitting the spot when I was tempted to make a cup of blueberry green Republic of Tea, which is perfectly fine, but not something that would normally compete with a Samovar tea for me.)
It’s been a long while since I’ve had this tea. It’s one of those ones I love, so I leave it sitting there for when I have more time to enjoy it. Today I thought to myself that I don’t want it to age out of being amazing, so I should break it open again and make an entire pot (to resteep all day long). And I’m so glad I made that decision. I forgot how large the leaves are! And how nearly sweet the oolong is! It’s a great pot of tea!
I am finishing off a tin of this at this very moment. It’s crazy to know, but I’ve had this tin for exactly 19 months and 1 week. My in-laws brought it to the hospital when we had little Leif. And I just didn’t have time to make tea for the first six months or so, and then when I did have time, I always made “real” tea. I have fond memories of this one, though, as my Dad kept teasing us about having the people’s republic tea. I believe we even have a photo of it in our album.
It’s a decent decaf green. I don’t know that I’d get more since I can have caffeine again, but it was a perfect one to have on hand for this last year and a half.
I like this far more than I thought I would. I don’t know what my hang up was… it smells great, and I like hazelnuts. I think I assumed it would need sugar or something. However, it’s good just as it is! It just has a tiny edge that some sugar would knock off if you wanted to avoid it. In fact, for a flavored tea, it’s quite good!
A friend gave me a cup of this, and I was a bit suspicious at first. I don’t normally like rooibos tea, but this particular type was a winner! It was a bit citrusy, a bit spicy, and a bit floral, but not too much of any of those. I don’t really know what else to say but if you (like me) generally avoid rooibos, this one is worth a try!

And this is the last cup of this sample.
I’m working on clearing my samples as fast as I can… it’s a major project!!
