HHTTB Round 3

This is so lovely and subtle. Such a nice light peach and slightly floral white tea. I am finding I like white teas more and more these days. This one does sort of smell like a candle… but luckily it does not taste like a candle, which is the important part. =)

HHTTB Round 3

This one has a lovely bready, malty quality to it. I also get a bit of chocolate, though only a hint. I bet if I were to take the many suggestions here to steep it at 3 minutes I would get more chocolate flavor, but I’ll refrain since then there wouldn’t be any left for the next person. Definitely glad I got to try this one though.

This was actually pretty good. I am not a huge fan of rooibos, but I wanted something caffeine free from the HHTTB Round 3 and this was one of the few that was that also sounded good. It smells very cherry to me in dry leaf form, but doesn’t retain that much of the cherry once brewed. It was nice and the mulch taste was fairly well masked, but not something I would add to my cupboard.

HHTTB Round 3

This was the first one I pulled out of the humongous box that is this TTB. I really cannot even process how much tea there in it and how many options I can try in the next week or so.

This was delicious. Very refreshing and the melon is front and center. Definitely not as good as Butiki Cantaloupe and Cream, but I really enjoyed sipping this.

I actually was avoiding trying this tea. It was included in the amazing box of goodies MissB sent me and I just wasn’t sure it was something I would enjoy. I maintain I don’t care for oolongs. Well I will now extract my foot from my mouth because this is now the second oolong I have really liked.

This is delicious and creamy and the hazelnut comes through nicely. I am very much a fan of this now. Glad I chose this rainy Saturday to give it a shot because it is absolutely perfect and perfect for today. I will not be passing this on like I thought I might. mmmmm….

Sipdown!

I remember not loving this at first, but the more I have had it the more I really really like it. It’s just so smooth and nice. Definitely the predominant flavor is hay, but I think I’ve said before that it has a subtle floral quality to it from my taste buds.

I will definitely consider restocking this one on my next Butiki order.

This is not for me. All I could taste in this was the rooibos, maybe a bit of the lemongrass. I will be passing this one on to someone else.

BLECH. I tried it… but no no no. This is terrible. Couldn’t muster more than 2 sips before I poured it out. The mint sticks to your mouth in a very unappealing way and the rest of the strong spices just gives me a headache.

Surprisingly, the version of this tea (and by that I mean green tea + mint blend) that I liked the best was Teavana’s Moroccan Mint. I tried DT’s North African Mint, the Teavana one, and Berber by Tay Tea.

I made a big pot of this for company yesterday while we played Smallworld and watched the World Cup. It’s was a really nice comforting jasmine. Not overly floral at all. It definitely comes in a close second to the Harney & Sons Dragon Pearl Jasmine on my list.

I am so bad at Smallworld. My husband did the kickstarter that they had and got some kind of special board, but I don’t think I am much fun to play with.

I was TERRIBLE at it when I first played, but I’ve gotten better as we’ve played. We only have the original one, nothing special. I’m dying to get some expansion packs or something to make it a bit more interesting.

We have loads of good board games, but as the kids are growing up and moving out, fewer chances to play them.

Another kind sample from MissB I swear this is the bottomless box of tea!

It’s a very nice Jasmine tea, though seems to have a bit of a bitter finish compared to my other jasmine teas. Not a jasmine I would restock, but not a terrible one overall.

Bio

The first time I tried loose leaf tea at home, I was hooked. I’ve been drinking tea for years now, though I still feel like such a newbie in the world of teas. There are so many things I’ve never tried from so many new to me companies!

I used to be very much a black tea drinker, but have started, in the last year, to realize that I prefer the lightness of greens and whites much more.

That said, I will basically try any tea once (probably twice, just in case)!

My review categories:
100-94: I never want to run out of these!
93-80: Restock please!
79-60: Definitely like, but not a must have
59-50: Not lovin’ it, but I’d drink it again
49 & below: nope, Nope, NOPE.
