Makaibari 1st Flush Darjeeling 2011 from Silver Tips Tea
88

I received this – my first ever straight Darjeeling – from Angrboda. Thank you so much!
Dry: floral with a little bit of almost juicy red berry. Definitely sweet smelling.
Liquor (3min): Beautiful coloured tea which reminds me of fuzzy peaches for some reason. It smells so good. I can’t even describe it… thoughts of a red gummy bear pop into my head. As for taste – I do not detect any astringency, instead I get a lovely berry.. huckle berry? I think so. It is quite mild with a hint of tang…much like a huckle berry.
This is rather floral though at the same time. It started to develop after the first few sips and now takes residence in the mid/late taste, with initial flavours being berry, then perhaps a lemony citrusy step into the floral.

Interesting and complex tea. I will try a resteep. I am so thankful this wonderful tea was my first introduction to Darjeelings. I may have to try more.. I’m intrigued. Thanks again Angrboda!

Oh I’m so glad you liked it! I was trying to re-home it when I sent it to you, I don’t care much for Darj myself. :D

I do I do! It was very delightful and sent me into a mission to find out more about Darj and what shops to by it from… Sorry homework >.<

I am very excited to delve into as many different types of tea as possible… so this should be interesting. I am really looking forwards to tasting all the wide array of flavours that can come from pure tea leaves.

Currently, I am having a love affair with oolongs. Mostly green, though I am stretching out into more oxidized oolongs. Black teas are also in my love fest as they can be so surprising sometimes (I used to drink bagged red rose x.x)
I would really love to get to know green tea a lot more and white tea.. all tea to be honest. I want to know them all.

Tea rating system:

0-50: Do people actually enjoy this?
50-60: Slight improvement, not recommendable.
60-70: Alright, though easily forgettable.
70-80: Good flavour, though not a ‘go to’ tea.
80-90: Great tea – complex and memorable.
90-100: Extremely delicious and complex teas that leave me craving more.

On top of tea, I have a love for music. Generally all music, though I am partial to indie rock/folk/pop/electronic. Follow me if you also enjoy indie music and would like to trade some artists!

I’m always open to new tea and music suggestions. Happy tea drinking to you all.
