Biodynamic Darjeeling from The Tea Merchant
90

After a long trip to see my family, I just returned home from a long days drive to find a lovely package of samples from The Tea Merchant. I absolutely adore the wrapping job with the wax stamp. A massive thank you to this lovely new company for the samples! I am so excited to be home and able to drink proper tea again!

Dry: Muscatel smell with a slight floral edge, but not sweet floral. More commanding.
Liquor, 4 minutes: Beautiful amber color with an extremely malty delicious smell! I knew I picked the perfect tea to have as my first tea back home after 12 days! There is a woodsy sweet/ spiciness to this tea. It has a body that is hard to compare.. a yummy pudding that has just been made with warm milk. Thats what is coming to mind for some reason. Beautiful malty notes and the smell, as it cools, is reminding me of saskatoon berry bushes on a hot day. Especially when there are some just-overly-ripe berries there. Perhaps an apple flavour, though very crisp, not sweet.

Overall, I am really enjoying this cuppa. I could definitely see myself drinking this. I am in love with Darj.

=) It’s really nice, but it just takes a minute to recognize the apple flavour as it is not sweet (to me at least)

I didn’t find it that sweet. well, unless it was honey on top of the apple lol

I am very excited to delve into as many different types of tea as possible… so this should be interesting. I am really looking forwards to tasting all the wide array of flavours that can come from pure tea leaves.

Currently, I am having a love affair with oolongs. Mostly green, though I am stretching out into more oxidized oolongs. Black teas are also in my love fest as they can be so surprising sometimes (I used to drink bagged red rose x.x)
I would really love to get to know green tea a lot more and white tea.. all tea to be honest. I want to know them all.

Tea rating system:

0-50: Do people actually enjoy this?
50-60: Slight improvement, not recommendable.
60-70: Alright, though easily forgettable.
70-80: Good flavour, though not a ‘go to’ tea.
80-90: Great tea – complex and memorable.
90-100: Extremely delicious and complex teas that leave me craving more.

On top of tea, I have a love for music. Generally all music, though I am partial to indie rock/folk/pop/electronic. Follow me if you also enjoy indie music and would like to trade some artists!

I’m always open to new tea and music suggestions. Happy tea drinking to you all.
