Peachy Oolong Teabags from Adagio Teas
87

Chuck Norris once swam to the Virgin Islands. Today they’re known as the Island.

Sooo i got 3 new teas today and 3 more got stuck on the customs office but should get them soonish. They don’t like it when a box doesn’t have an invoice in it ;) I even totally forgot about that purchase. Oh well expand my dear shelves, make more room…

OK so i kinda assume that these teabags should be similar to Peach Oolong tea by Adagio – but i still added this one as a new one. It’s teabags after all, and who knows maybe its not exactly same… They are totally sealed in the little packages. Mmmm it smells nice when i open it. Very peachy.

So let’s see…
Ohhh lot of tea in the teabag. I almost never steep that much tea. Maybe i should change my habits. Says i should steep it for 5 minutes. That’s also longer than i normally steep my oolongs (more like 3 minutes).

Tea is orange. Nice peachy color.

Guess what it smells like? Yep yep peachy. I must admit i’m getting all peachy here myself…

Tastes of course peachy but oolong is almost stronger. So it’s a good oolong with sweet peachy aftertaste. Can’t judge yet on quality of oolongs. But this is quite yummy. Somewhere in between ’i’d buy it again’ and ‘gimme more’. Shall see soon how it behaves on new steeps…

I messed up second steep, first water got too mild, then i forgot it’s steeping. Anyways i still think this is a one steep great tea. Its still ok and very much drinkable but it’s not as yummy…

Japan Kukicha Extra from TeaGschwendner
84

Chuck Norris once got in a knife fight. The knife lost.

Smells kinda like the Dragon Well one did yesterday. Its bit more colored tho. Yellow to slightly greenish.
I’m expecting it to taste similar too cuz it looks very much alike with the only difference that this one has more stems and less leaves.
I was right. I like it maybe even bit more than Dragon Well. It’s the same taste with less sweetness. Very smooth and round taste. There is a hint of fresh grass in the taste. I like it. I really do.

Oh and yay i’m finally drinking some real teas!

Oolong from Nature's Adornments
72

Chuck Norris can set ants on fire with a magnifying glass. At night.

OK honestly i’m totally jealous of Rabs’s (how do you write that?!) Shakespeare intros. So i’m gonna, from now on, start in my own way ;) Nerdy way of course…

I couldn’t resist eating 2 day old lasagne’s yesterday so I got another bad tummy day today. It’s totally worth it tho :D Hence oolong to start the day…
It tastes as always – quite neutral and very drinkable. Idk honestly what to say about oolong. So far the 2 I’ve tried taste always same. Which i like when i’m in the mood for it…

China Lung Ching from TeaGschwendner
88

LoL OK 3 new teas (tea bags to be precise) again. This time they came as a gift from a cousin who lives in Germany. There comes something good out of annoying people with tea stories after all ;) For me at least. I’m seriously starting to be overcrowded with tea. Weird feeling.

Ya and i got 3 packages on the post office: one is Adagio teas, one should be an awesome t shirt. No idea what the third one is…

Back to the tea.
Leaves smell like fresh cut grass or something. Very nice real smell.
Color is yellow. Tea itself smells very herbal but different than dry leaves. Cant remember what it reminds me of.
Leaves are even bigger than white one from this morning. Quite bigger:

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l188/malomorgen/Teas/tee3.jpg

Hmmm is that weird smell jasmine? Would be easier to tell if i spoke German better :D It’s a very specific herbal taste, quite strong, and really not bad. Weird for me tho.
I Googled an english description:
China Lung Ching – Widely known as “Dragon Well,” Lung Ching is one of China’s “Ten Famous Teas” eagerly awaited each March and April. Meticulously plucked, withered and pan-fired to perfection, this premium grade tea is a masterful achievement of the balance between bitter and sweet. A sunshine yellow infusion presents contrast. Roasted chestnut resounds and bitter green undertones give way to a softer, sweeter hint of vanilla.

I’m getting the softness. Wouldn’t call it vanilla but ya i get what they meant. And it really is sweet. Quite.

So basically i like it but still find it weird. Or my taste buds do. They will get used to it soon. They always do. I can see this becoming one of those teas that give me cravings…

Fishie teacups are there just for Rabs ;)

White Melon from Ronnefeldt Tea
87

OK, smell of the leaves i dint like too much, seems quite intense…

I’m starting with short steep (2 minutes).
Color is light. Slightly yellow/green-ish. I can barely feel the smell of the actual tea. Kinda surprising after smelling the intense leaves.

Ohhhh mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Delicate. Wow. I’m quite impressed. It’s so subtle, gentle, and yummy. Can taste both white tea and melon. In right combo. Pai Mu Tan makes it smooth and what i call nutty (like gently greasy like sunflower or pumpkin seeds) but idk, gotta figure out what word you use for it lol. I like it when flavored teas don’t totally overtake the original tea in them. Melon is well melony :D You know kinda sweetish, refreshing. They go very well together…

Oh the leaves of this tea are big compring to the ones I’ve had before. Love that…

EDIT
I noticed again on the first steep that colder the tea gets flavors get stronger. Thats obviously Ronnefeldt’s “thing”. With Bourbon Vanilla i liked colder better for stronger vanilla bourbon flavor. Here i kinda prefered hot tea with stronger PaiMuTan scent.

2nd steep 2,5 minutes, slightly colder water
Bit darker, tastes like the first steep.

3rd steep
Got cold and I like it. Very refreshing. Maybe i just found my summer drink. Well that and my Melon margarita :D Not even yummy teas will make me give up that treat…

Bourbon Vanilla from Ronnefeldt Tea
80

I got tea delivery today :D Three packs of new teas – and none of them rated on Steepster yet. Funny thing – I ordered them like a month ago from an UK online teashop (http://www.cupoftea.uk.com) and i got 3 bags of German loose tea. Oh well in the end they all come from Asia anyways ;)
I’m keeping the Assam one with Irish whiskey taste in reserve cuz i got a very similar one opened. But the other two bags are gonna get opened. Maybe even both tonight.

Bourbon Vanilla does sound kinda yumm right? OK lets go…
Smell of vanilla isn’t very strong. Quite delicate even. I think that might be a good thing. Yep its a delicate black. Not malty, not too strong. I’m guessing that’s how Indian blacks are. More watery but still quite good. In a different way. Whole other flavor. I might be getting a hint of bourbon. Vanilla not much. It’s actually slightly bitter. I’ll try steeping it bit shorter next time. Might bring out vanilla and bourbon more. It’s an OK tea. Not bad at all but not sure i’d get more…

EDIT So yes turns out that the tea is quite better and not bitter at all if i steep it for like 3 minutes instead of 4

EDIT no2 as it gets colder it’s totally getting better. bourbon vanilla is starting to show. and i keep lifting the rating up ;)

Mate lemon from Kuća zelenog čaja
69

Well i like this one lil better today :D Citrus is less strong and idk why but today it suites me that way…

Fresh Fantasy from Kuća zelenog čaja
67

I like it a bit less today…

Chai - Loose Tea from Nature's Adornments
79

Ending my silver needle weekend with something different. Gonna drink it with a cup of milk and brown sugar.
Yay just saw i won a matcha tin on a contest on Facebook. My first tea prize ever :D It’s really a lucky year for me so far…
Even the chai is yummy this time. Ohhh life is good…

Silver Needle from Adagio Teas
100

Fourth steep now. And its after midnight. I’m even thinking i might try steeping it in the morning :D
I almost feel sorry for this tea. Hope it won’t feel over-used lol…

Silver Needle from Adagio Teas
100

Weeee it’s my favorite tea day today. I’ll be drinking it all day long…
Kinda scared to even look how many loose leaf teabags i got left. (looks anyways) Sigh. Five left after this one…
Oh i sooo love this tea. It’s addicting.

Mint Green Tea from Twinings

Smell of this one is Spearmint chewing gum / mint flavored toothpaste. Kinda tastes like that chewing gum too. Well without sugar. If i added sugar would be almost same. U know the green one…
I don’t taste actually tea in it but i mean as a drink it suits me right now. No idea how to rate this…

Fresh Fantasy from Kuća zelenog čaja
67

Mushy weather giving me a bit of a headache. I need something gentle…
I’m mixing it half half with plain oolong. Idk why. To spend this oolong faster i guess. And give it more flavor. And cuz I’m bored. I’ll try not to put ratings when i do mixes of different teas.

Result: its slightly less strong on citrus. Hence i can feel the actual tea now. And feels less refreshing. I mean its not so gentle or neutral. Oolong gives it a more herbal note. But citrus fruits are still strongest flavor. Is not bad. For an experiment…

Headache is also gone :D

EDIT Second steep – added even more oolong to it and let it get cold. Yummm

Green Tea & Lemon from Twinings
75

You know… actually… not bad at all…

Certified Organic * Bai Hao Yin Zhen * Silver Needle White Tea from China Gifts (eBay store)
50

Still don’t get it how 2 different white silver needle teas can be so totally different. Miiiiles away…
It was a lesson for me tho. Never order big amount of tea without trying it first. Even if it seams really affordable. And beware of eBay – it can surprise u in both good and bad way ;)

It is drinkable but i wouldnt buy this one again…

Sweet Chai from Yogi Tea
64

I must say I’m almost never in the mood to drink this one or Sweet Chilly. No they arent that bad it’s just that they are really strong and weird. And i dont like licorice. I imagine i’d wanna drink them while eatind a rice meal or something like that. Right now im havin some plain butter cookies with it and it’s rather good together. I’d say this is a tea that goes way better with food. Gotta find some word for that kind of tea. Foodside tea? Nom and Drink Tea? idk…

Anyways i got less water so i steeped it bit shorter. It’s still very spiced and peppery. But with cookies it goes along well. Leaves my mouth hot and sweetish afterwards…
So its peppery from ginger, sweet from licorice and weirdly spicy from everything else. Interesting would be the right word…

Teabag message: Jedes Lächeln ist ein direkter Erfolg.
(goes to google translate)
Each smile is a direct success. (lol that sounds so German)

Btw i’m saving/collecting all these teabag messages ;)

Pearl of the river of Nile from Kuća zelenog čaja
83

Hereby i officially declare this rooibos as my ‘refreshing after work’ tea…

Black Tea - Loose from Nature's Adornments
77

Well im obviously in the experimenting mood lately. I tend to mix stuff together. This time it was mostly black loose and just a bit of black Irish whiskey. Just slightly bitter and light on the irish whiskey flavors. Good black combo came out of it…

About that yunnan i had this morning. I’m on my 3rd steep now and it still tastes pretty much same – which was very good….

Earl Grey from Twinings

Start note: this post is mostly about another tea…

Earl Gray is my first cup this morning. Made it stronger in a small cup. I never tasted so much bergamot in it. Interesting. Suites me better these days than when i started drinking it…

However started the tasting note for another tea. I just borrowed a teaspoon from a colegue on work. Yunnan. My first. He bought it in a pharmacy. So idk how to even name it. Thats why its in this log. I’m really curious. This will be my first pure green tea. But i got plenty more coming my way.

Leaves are longer and look better than any of the blends i have in my current stash. Says on the bag its green yunnan even tho the leaves are quite darkish.

Mmmm i like the smell of the leaves i just took out of the tea. Promissing :D
Color is bright yellowish green. Smell reminds me of my favorite silver needle. Taste too. It has that what i call it nutty feel about it (kinda greasy like sunflower seeds). Tastes quite greasy and smooth. Yummy. Very good. I kinda really really like this. OMG im discovering pure green yummy teas. W00t!

I feel bad for this one cuz it doesnt have it’s place in my cupboard. I just might have to go buy a bag ;) Sigh…

Choco - Aztec Spice from Yogi Tea
37

Teabag message: See the soul and divinity in everybody.
Right on :D

I really do love the smell of this one. Taste is not quite there. Its too watery for cocoa. Should be smoother and creamier…
I don’t mind having a cup of it here and there…

Oh and i wish Yogi Tea stopped putting licorice in their teas. It ruins everything for me…

Fresh Fantasy from Kuća zelenog čaja
67

OK so in the description of this one it says it tastes like orange and passion-fruit. Then in the ingredients they didn’t list passion fruit. Bit it definitely smells like it. Quite strong. And promising…

Its light green and clear. Yes i can taste citrus peels and i can taste passion-fruit. Very yummy. Light. Fruit takes over the green tea taste but it doesn’t feel artificial or anything. It’s a very nice blend. Think this is my favorite green now. Well kinda hard to compare cuz it’s totally fruity. OK it’s my favorite fruity green. Just keep in mind that i have tried just a few so far (and mostly teabags)…

I’m not super dooper excited about it but i’d buy this one again.

Earl Grey (loose tea) from Nature's Adornments
71

Today is the black&milk day at work. Gonna give Earl gray a second try with milk. I didn’t really like the first try. I’ll make it stronger than normally so it should work better. Trying chrine’s recipe – 1 cup earl gray, 1/4 cup heated milk. Well without vanilla.

It’s not bad. It’s not english breakfast either ;) Vanilla would give it a good kick. If i had any.

Kinda like it…

Pearl of the river of Nile from Kuća zelenog čaja
83

Fruity, refreshing and dreamy…
Not one of the wow ones but sure one of the good ones. Nice evening tea. Pretty color as always.
Very nice long lasting fruity aftertaste.

Cheers!

(yep those really are smurfs on my pillowcase lol)

Irish Whiskey from Kuća zelenog čaja
84

Second steep. I added little sugar and one coffee cream thingy in it. Its good just bit too mild. Would be better with the first steep. Anyways, as expected, milk goes well with it…
