So…. it smells like coconut and vanilla, that’s a good start I guess. It definitely looks great (not so much the leaves themselves as the overall mix).

First sip: Nutty hit in the face -didn’t expect that. Perplexes me. As I keep on drinking my cup I start tasting the actual coco part of the nut ! Delicious ! Long and smooth lasting after taste. The vanilla is present and complements the overall experience very well without feeling powdery at anytime.

So what’s missing ? Well the White tea part of this drink is rather subtle (might be my steeping method). This is an excellent soothing tea if you like coconut and aren’t looking for a white tea party in your mouth. Plain Pai Mu Dan or Silver needles will do a better job at dealing with your white tea craving.

Overall, impressed with this one, will most likely order more.

Finally got my Milky Oolong samples from Tea from Taiwan after a long wait (they really are shipped straight from Taiwan).

Randomly picked this one out of the 3. I’ve had milky Oolongs from 2 other stores before is this has been by far the best. Sweet but not as “in your face” as others, creamy yet light enough – it was GREAT. The leaves were full and dark green -no doubt, this is good stuff.

4th steeping in, the taste remains intact albeit lighter. This isn’t a scented Oolong as it keep its true character steeping after steeping.

My only deception is that the sample was only good for a one shot try out and now.. I’m out. Fairly expensive (albeit not bad for a Milky Oolong of this caliber) … I’ll have to try the other 2 before I make up my mind on which one to order in large quantity next.

What’s the wait on direct shipped Taiwanese teas?

Math Brisk

Order on May 17, received on June 4 (so around 3 weeks). Not bad considering where it’s coming from but I’m used to speedier turn around times.

Once again, another beautiful tea from LeafSpa. I don’t know why but somehow they manage to produce good looking teas (if that matters to you).

Tin was packed crazy like others have mentioned before. Pre steeping, it doesn’t have a strong scent: Mild earthy tones and even milder pepper scent. Once properly steeped, the dark bronze liquor gives out a much more distinct scent.

This tea is like liquid pretzel ! Now that might not sound very appealing but it is actually very good. Those looking for a strong smoked black tea should look elsewhere. This is a smooth experience !

“Good looking teas” are pretty important to me- especially when it comes to the leaf itself. If a leaf is broken and crushed it’s not good quality.

Well so far my Rooibos tastings haven’t been all that successful. Clearly, from a personal taste stand point, it seems I’m pickier when it comes to those.

This one was interesting. The orange flavor dominates with a slight sense of sweetness remaining after a few sips. Smells like “Pot Pourri” which is not something I had ever planned to taste.

Overall fairly smooth, do not over steep as the orange flavor will turn into a bitter mess.

Very interesting tea.

I had tried only very few roasted Oolongs so far, have a preference for the greener kind. LeafSpa’s description is actually very accurate.

While at first I wasn’t convinced at all by that sense of powerful smokiness, I eventually understood how this tea had to be drank to be properly savored: slowly.

The taste actually evolves as you sip on this one. The obvious roastiness which I’m not too fond off is what initially hits you but it’s soon enough replaced by a lingering thick sweetness that is highly addictive. This is a tea that I had to get used to but have my first 3 cups I finally got it and now find it really enjoyable.

Yesss ! Here’s a flavored Rooibos that lives up to its name!

It smells like a natural After Eight both in its tin and infused. With a light brown color and the obvious aroma of chocolate floating around the house you are in for a treat.

The mint and chocolate flavors are light enough yet very much present and blend in perfectly well with the rooibos taste that can be faintly perceived in the background.

While I still much prefer Oolong or other green teas over flavored Rooibos in general, this is a winner.

Up until I try a different blend from somewhere else, this will remain my favorite Roobios.

Good job guys !

drank Tiramisu by TeaFrog

When Teafrog posted their “Sample deals” on Steepster I decided to go a little crazy and ordered 9 of them.

This is the first one I tried. While Teafrog were awesome in shipping and they offered very generous quantities for samplers, I must say I was disappointed with the taste of this one.

As the previous reviewer mentioned, the scent is absolutely amazing: Up until you pour boiling water on this one, you are literally holding a piece of Tiramisu in your hands -it’s that convincing !

Unfortunately, that all goes away to be replaced by the overpowering taste of pure rooibos with an accent of artificial cherry flavor -nothing else.

Up until I tried some Silver Needles from a random teashop, I thought I’d never have any interest in White Teas. They are expensive and, from what I had thought, way too light for my liking (Oolong is usually my cup of tea),

Turns out I was totally wrong and with that now known, I decided to order this one from leafspa.

As with my previous white experiences, the taste was delicate but augmented by the honey flavor. Vanilla was more present in the aroma but could hardly be tasted (not a bad thing). Very soothing and comforting tea that somehow has a Winter feel to it.

Overall the Honey flavor is interesting and certainly gives a unique taste to this tea. Not an every day tea by all means but one to keep in your rotation.

Go figure. I don’t like honey or sweetened teas, but this is amazing!:)

I wasn’t too convinced about this one to begin with, having tried other Chamomile teas in the past without much success but the reviews were glowing so.. why not ?

Beautiful tea – it actually looks good. Very sweet aroma and pleasant taste. Definitely a tea that would be great iced in the summer.

I find the orange flavor to be a bit overwhelming but besides that a very good tea to enjoy while reading a book in bed.
