Right, I went back in for round 2 with this guy this evening, using some of my cherished Blueberry Blush to complete this recipe: http://www.t2tea.com/recipes/blue-nougat-2/ but at a one-cup scale, so I had a heaped BB and around 3/4 TN.

Still not winning me over. Something bad-tart came out in this mix.

As it’s cooling it’s becoming a lot more palatable but the recipe has it served hot, so I did what I was told. No sweetener either—I can only imagine how much more bad-tart this would have turned with the addition of some lemon as recipe-suggested!

Two more recipes/chances, Toasty Nougat.

Andrea Stephens

I found toasty Nougart a complete letdown unless it was iced & even then the quantity you needed to use was kind of outrageous for what was essentially a “mixer”. in the end i divided the rest of my box between toasty oolong and my chai mix. I was a bit surprised that they had recently upgraded TN to “the big tin” along with the likes of Geisha Getaway, Terrific Toffee. Someone must be using it and loving it…

Memily

Very weird that it’s in the big tin! I’m gonna try the other two recipes from the website and also try it iced, though it’s a bit silly that a blend called “toasty” is better iced. Tsk. Such a shame because it SMELLS divine.

By some accident I ended up with only this at work today—I’d had a few more options in my backpack but due to the current sipdown challenge I’d whittled away at them enough and forgotten to take more options this week. It was fine. It didn’t blow my mind but I enjoyed it enough. It was originally a gift from work so I guess it makes sense to be smashing through it at work.

1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

Right, my box of this finally got opened tonight so I figured I may as well hit it for dessert!

And… bit of a letdown.

Though I must admit, I bought this as a blender, so now I just have to find the recipe that suggested this as an ingredient and maybe then we’ll be cooking with gas.

(I still want to eat this from the tin with a spoon, though.)

ETA: got it.

I don’t know. The more I drink this, the more I don’t particularly care for it. I tried to spruce it up with some ginger and lavender this evening. Am I mad?

drank Southern Sunrise by T2

Sipdown #15. Bagged up some more of this for a swap and put the rest into a 2L jug for iced tea! Spectacular. I hate not having this in my cupboard at all times but sipdown rules are rules and we’re on the downhill run toward winter now anyway, where Southern Sunrise shines as an iced. Still fabulous warm but iced is where it’s at, so I’ll restock this in the spring. Enjoying this last jug while I can, it’s turned quite chilly this evening!

As a reward for hitting 15 down I’ve busted open a couple of sealed boxes. Hooray, self rewarding!

Today’s temperatures are being so weird. I had a nice warm chai earlier today and now this afternoon I’m having a nice cool matcha milkshake. Good times!

drank Irish Breakfast by T2

Sipdown #14. I’m on fire. Took the last of my supplies around to a friend’a place for brunch this morning, and falsely advised the lovely Englishwoman that it was English breakfast. Oops. Well look, she didn’t say anything so it mustn’t have been that evident.

In any case, brunch was great and I had just enough left for one big mug once I’d gotten home, so I figured I might as well. I’ve already busted open my next breakfast tea into the breakfast tin, too—Melbourne, you’re up!

30-0 — I didn’t enjoy this tea and that makes me sad.

MY TEASTORY:

Grandad got me started young, white (a LOT of white) Irish breakfast with two.

I never strayed far from that until the world of T2 Tea came to Brisbane some years ago, and now I don’t know what I’d do without a pantry full of tea options.

These days I prefer to drink my teas straight without sweetener (though I appreciate some black variations shine better with milk and/or a dash of honey/sugar). I also love a speedy iced tea (hot brewed then poured over ice), and my latest obsession is cold brewing (which doesn’t make a lot of sense, as Australia is headed into winter and I live in the coldest corner of the country, but oh well).

I’d love to make a bunch of tea friends on here, especially those who can talk Aussie teas with me. I’ve recently come back from a jaunt to North America and it was a real hoot to hit up DAVIDsTEA after reading so many reviews! I wish I’d had the chance to get to more stores… but I’m happy with what I got back past customs. See those teas and my local jams in my reviews.

I LOVE:
+ black teas
+ white teas
+ oolongs
+ flavoured versions of all three of the above
+ herbal infusions and fruit tisanes

NOT A FAN:
+ most green teas
+ LICORICE ROOT (my sworn enemy) and aniseed flavours
