3 Tasting Notes

Rose Congou from Upton Tea Imports
94

As with Upton’s Lychee Black tea, this makes a fabulous iced tea.

China Lychee from Upton Tea Imports
94

The lychee flavor is quite strong—as a hot tea, I would only want it once in a great while. However, it makes a wonderful iced tea, cold brewing method recommended.

China Yunnan from Mark T. Wendell
95

The earthy flavor makes this one of my favorite Yunnans. Sipping it conjures up images of my British grandmother in her beige cardigan, serving me afternoon tea with cucumber sandwiches.

Profile

Bio

Me mum is from the UK, so I was raised on a proper cuppa at 4:00 every afternoon—Assam, Darjeeling, Keemun, Uva, Oolong. She turned me on to Mark Wendell’s non-smoky Russian Caravan and Cheericup Ceylon. I turned her on to Yunnan. I branch out into green teas on occasion, and I enjoy the twiggy goodness of kukicha, but I always come home to black.
