16 Tasting Notes
I have been subsisting on bag teas the last few days as I’m staying with a friend, though their espresso machine has been of more interest to me! This tea was hidden way back in their pantry, and as a peppermint fan I had to try it. The first time it was uninteresting and kind of tasteless, but steeping 2 bags in one mug yielded a minty and pleasant tea. I also forgetfully over-steeped this a couple times (I’m talking like, 15-20 minutes+) and that possibly made it better.
Preparation
Maybe it’s because I’m not really a green tea drinker, but I couldn’t taste the strawberry at all. For a cheap bag tea, it’s pretty mild and enjoyable, though I’d rather have a cup of peppermint if the water’s already boiled.
Preparation
Today was round 2 with this tea, and my first endeavor with re-steeping loose tea! To my delight, the second steep was just as smooth and tasty about 1 hour later. I also tried stevia in one and sugar in the other – unfortunately the stevia gave it a ‘cold’ and licorice-y taste. I think my brand of stevia is just like that, though. The sugar really brought out the caramel and made perfect for dessert, though the same goes for cream sans-sugar so I think I’ll keep it that way.
Smooth, unoffensive taste – but no minty exhale like other peppermint teas I’ve tried. I find that if I steep long enough to get that effect, the compromise is it tastes a bit dry and bitter down the back of the tongue. I do like 2 bags steeped together after a big meal to reduce bloating and intestinal discomfort, though I should probably just eat less. :)
Preparation
My friend raved about this tea to me this morning, and I am very excited to be living in Vancouver later this year so I can try it! Had a thorough browse of Davids Tea and other local tea shops. I definitely miss living in North America, where there’s much more variety in basically everything you could want.
I am quite new to tea, always finding that it tasted like ‘dirty water’. Today after a bit of research I made a trip to the always-cute t leaf T and bought a packet of this tea. It is quite nice! Not bitter or cloying like other teas I’ve had (though those are probably due to my own brewing faults) but I didn’t find it sweet at all. Divine with a tablespoon of cream.
I took a guess on the temperature but I like to wait a few moments after boiling to pour it over black tea.
