This is the perfect end-of-the-day tea. The lavender flavor is just so lovely and soft. Can a flavor be soft? If so, this one is. I also personally find the scent of lavender to be irresistible. The best part about this is that it’s all real lavender and chamomile (I find fake lavender just terrible) and I enjoy the flavor so much that I don’t want to snack at all. Winning.

I’m definitely adding this tea to my wishlist. Next Butiki order for sure!

drank The Killer’s Vanilla by Butiki Teas

I CAN’T STOP DRINKING THIS TEA. It’s like that movie, The Red Shoes, where the girl puts on the shoes and then can’t stop dancing until she dies. In this case, I just won’t be able to stop drinking it until I die….and even then, if there is a heaven, I will be drinking it there too. I had two cups before lab today and the most important discovery I made was that THIS TEA IS PERFECT EXPERIMENT FUEL. I was so alert and energetic, yet so calm. My experiment went so smoothly and I even finished ahead of schedule. Life is good.

We were wandering in Pittsburgh, looking for a place to eat lunch and suddenly we found ourselves in front of Nicholas Coffee Company and oh look, they sell tea. The BF took one look and said “Well, I guess we’re going in there.” Me: evil grin. I picked up this strawberry kiwi “tea” because I need more decaf teas for evening consumption and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The dry tea is mainly pieces of dried fruit with a leaf here and there. It both smells and tastes like juicy strawberry (and I do mean juicy!) followed by a pretty strong hibiscus flavor. Normally, I’m not such a fan of hibiscus, but it works in this tea. Sad to say, I don’t get really get any kiwi flavor, but it’s good nonetheless.

drank Nilgiri Frost Oolong by Butiki Teas

Thanks to Stacy from Butiki Tea for this sample! Oolongs are the only tea I always drink without sweetener and this one is particularly enjoyable. It’s very smooth with no astringency at all. It’s a little bit sweet, but mainly roasted and woodsy tasting. It tastes….cold…..maybe? I don’t know but I like it. The more it cools, the more I’m enjoying it. The only drawback is that it does leave my mouth a little dry.

I’m finally back from Pittsburgh so I can have MOAR KILLER’S VANILLA. I seriously thought longingly of this tea at least once a day while I was gone and it is every bit as good as I remember. LOVE IT. Stacy has created a Killer’s Vanilla monster.

First, it’s 4:30am and I am not a morning person. Brain. So. Fuzzy. So, I forgot that there were supposed to be flavors in this tea except vanilla. Needless to say, I was surprised! Surprised in a good way though. This tea is just so creamy, dreamy smooth. I really like it. The mint is very soft and compliments the vanilla wonderfully. I can’t really taste the lavender by itself, but I taste it more in the context of the vanilla and the mint, if that makes sense. This tea is both comforting, is waking me up, and is refreshing. Maybe it should have been called vanilla paradox :-). I will keep this tea stocked at all times! That seems to be a theme with all the Butiki teas I’ve tried.

I had to go for a repeat on this tea. It’s one of my new favorites! I love the way it smells and tastes. I really really hate fake lavender smell and taste, but that is not at all a concern with this tea. No soapiness or chemical-ness at all! Just a delicious cup of tea that makes me very happy :-)

drank Raspberry Truffle by Butiki Teas

This tea is subtle, but quite enjoyable. There’s an earthy quality to the smell and taste of the tea. That’s the best way I can think of to describe it. Maybe this is from the Kundaly base? I’ve never had Kundaly before, so it’s hard to say. The raspberry is more on the tart than the sweet side, but blends really well with the other flavors and so is not overwhelming. I get a little rush of chocolate-y flavor at the end of each sip, and who can complain about that? Not this girl! I am liking this tea more with every sip, which is unusual. Usually teas go the other way in that I like them at first and then start to pick out things I don’t like as I go. All in all, a very mellow and yet also tasty tea!

drank English Toffee Matcha by Matcha Outlet

I got home from work early and thought matcha sounded good. I made some with milk and it was tasty for sure. I pretty much chugged it. I’m a matcha fan thanks to the free sample I got from Red Leaf. I probably won’t order this one again, but I’m excited to try out a bunch of their other flavors that sound delish!

I have now gotten three samples of this (two from Red Leaf with orders, and one in a stash sale) and I have yet to try it. I probably should do that before it goes bad…. They have Belgium chocolate as the free May sample this month, which is one I just love.

mj

I must have the May sample then! I was going to place an order anyway…maybe they can throw in the May sample with that order. Thanks Cher

Sorry, I meant Cheri!

I like the caramel more than English toffee. They are similar but caramel is better.

Cheri

I have a sample waiting for me to try it of both the English Toffee and the Caramel. Neither flavor is calling to me yet, which is why I haven’t tried them. Dang it, I knew there was something else I needed while I was out. Milk. So no iced matcha latte for me in the morning tomorrow. Maybe on Friday I’ll go ahead and try one of those two….

mj

I tried it once with some sparkling water because I was also out of milk. It was much better with milk, but still pretty good that way.

This tea sounded completely amazing, so maybe my expectations were a little too high. I’m pretty underwhelmed by it. It smells vaguely nutty both before and after brewing. The taste is a little chocolately and a little generically nutty. It’s a pleasant cup, but I probably won’t restock this tea once it’s gone. I’d be pleased to send some out for swaps if anyone is interested :)

Tea-obsessed, book worm scientist.

I love black tea, especially Chinese black tea- I’m looking at you Fujians and Yunnans! I also enjoy Indian teas, mostly first flush darjeelings (and a select few assams).
I think I’m recently starting to like oolongs better though- gasp! I’ve been cheating on my black teas with all these lovely, alluring green floral oolongs. Sorry I’m not sorry.
White tea gets a lot of love too! I am particularly fond of silver needle whites.
I can’t seem to appreciate green teas and rooibos is foul, IMO.

Other interests: Books! Board games! Nerdy entertainment like Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, all the nature documentaries, etc etc. Also Disney!

I’m up for swaps!
