Mmm! This was definitely the perfect late afternoon breakfast tea for me! It was remarkably pancake-esque and went quite well with the unusual combination of spicy pizza. I am really going to be bummed when I finish my pouch of this tea, but for now I’m loving this delightful tea!

I’m not a big pumpkin fan myself, but I love the regular pancake brecky variety from Frank. Maybe I’ll try this one…broaden my horizons? ;)

Deeply satisfying and excellent with a splash of eggnog!

I haven’t had an oolong in awhile, but not because I don’t enjoy them. It is just unusual for me to commit to such an extended tea session with the same tea. I usually switch it up and drink several different teas over the course of a day or evening. However, I woke up craving an oolong session today! I picked out this Da Hong Pao from my generous sample box that I received because I was in the mood for a truly roasty, toasty experience. I remembered to do a quick 5-10 second rinse before settling down into my first 3 minute infusion with this tea.

The liquid from the first infusion is very light in color, but holds a sweet aroma that reminds me of good BBQ sauce for some reason. The flavor has a bit of a toasty/woody thing going on but there is a good amount of a natural sweetness hanging out. This infusion is pretty enjoyable, but I’m looking forward to the consecutive ones more. The first infusion from an oolong is never my favorite. I’m leaving this unrated until I progress more through this brewing series.

drank Elyse's Blend by Harney & Sons

This tea was just the thing to help me wake up on a lazy Saturday morning. The robust, yet honey sweet flavor went remarkably well with my egg and bacon breakfast. I was out of milk this morning so I added a bit of eggnog in its place and this is a pretty great combination.

Eggnog! I never thought of that as an additive. Like it! (Especially as the weather cools and my supply of Bigelow Eggnogg’n is down to just a couple bags.)

I love that this decaf tea doesn’t taste like most decaf teas tend to. Vanilla Comoro is FULL on rich, creamy, vanilla excellence that doesn’t ever let me down. Plus, I’ll be able to sleep tonight!

drank Cherry Marzipan by Tea Forte

This is another sample from Tea Forte’s Skin Smart lineup. Overall, this one is pretty good. I can taste the slightly sweet cherry and the almond creates a dry (but not astringent) note. This is definitely drinkable without sweetener and I’m glad that I got to try this one!

drank Swiss Apple by Tea Forte

I had extremely high hopes for this tea, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed. Initially, the aroma was very off-putting in an alcoholic sort of way. Usually I wouldn’t mind but since this isn’t a cocktail-esque flavored tea, I was a bit confused. After pouring the water on the tea bag, the alcohol aroma turned into the scent of rich chocolate. However, the taste of the tea is just apple, granted it is a very natural apple taste, but the chocolate is nowhere to be found.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to try this tea, but I would not purchase this particular flavor.

Hi,
It is interesting that you mentioned cocktail like for this tea; Tea Forte teas; I myself when I received this was thinking right away that they might all taste like previously sampled flavors like Merlot Almond, Apricot Amaretto…their Herbal Retreat line; but I was happy they arrived in tea bags as opposed to loose leaf and did not conjure cocktail to me. So my mind was awash of this thought and proceeded anew with these samples.

I am just saying thanks for clarity in expressing what is expected and the actuality of the tea in the cup.

I do go on, forgive.

I ordered this tea because I love pancakes and I adore almost everything pumpkin. I was not expecting this to truly taste like pumpkin pancakes, but I was excited to get a new and sure to be yummy tea. Wow, I should not have doubted Frank’s magical tea skills! This tea is smooth with a spicy pumpkin taste backed up with a bready pancake essence complete with maple syrup perfection and a hint of butter. With each sip, I expect the magical qualities of this tea to disappear, but the pancake goodness just keeps coming.

Another definite winner Frank!

I decided to prepare this tea like I would traditionally prepare a chai. I just didn’t let it simmer quite as long as I would like a chai. This experiment turned out wonderfully! The tea had that nice chewy quality that I associate with traditional stovetop chai and the chocolate was rich and delicious. I may try preparing other teas in this manner – it really hit the spot tonight.

This was a sample that came with my last Upton order. I picked this out of the cabinet this morning just because it had gotten lost on my tea shelf and miracously appeared today. I put a healthy dose of milk and brown sugar in the tea and it is pretty decent. I’m not too big on Ceylons just because I like a little more heft to my black tea, but this Ceylon has a light malty quality that I really enjoyed. Would I drink this again? Yes, but it would probably suit me better iced!

I am a former coffee drinker turned tea lover.

Black tea is probably my favorite type of tea, but I rather enjoy most types… I’m even developing a taste for pu-erh.

Rating Scale:
0-10: This tea is either flavorless or just plain undrinkable. I will avoid these teas in the future.

11-20: I was only able to make it through a few sips before pouring the tea out.

21-30: I may have been able to make it through the first cup but the thought of having another has me cringing.

31-40: Teas in this range are not horrible, but nothing I would seek out in the future.

41-60: Would drink if offered, but would not purchase for myself.

61-70: Okay, nothing special

71-80: Enjoyable, but I have to be in the mood for these. Probably would purchase if I found a really great price.

81-90: Pretty good tea, will probably be one of my favorites.

91-95: These teas are really excellent. I wouldn’t necessarily run out and buy more of these (just because there are so many teas out there that I haven’t tried), but I would miss this tea.

96-99: Terrific, very impressive.

100: This special rating is reserved for teas that are absolutely perfect in my opinion. I will only give out a rating of 100 to one tea per category (Earl Grey, unflavored black, dessert tea, Irish Breakfast, etc). These are teas that I really want to have around.

Perfect Teas so Far:

Earl Grey: Saint Isaac’s Blend (Russian Earl Grey) from Upton

Dessert Tea: Marco Polo from Mariage Freres

Unflavored Black: Emperor’s Red from Premium Steap
