Breaking this one out tonight. Seems to be a “Unique” type of tea when I opened the bay. Primarily 2 to 3 buds on each sprig and varying colors in depths of the purple shade.
Pulled out 8 grams and the Gaiwan for this one. Gave 5 second rinse and let the leaf sit for a couple of minutes.
Wet leaf has a vegetal aroma with just a little wisp of smoke in the nose. Did a brew with a 5 second steep to start things out. Color is almost a light honey color in the cup. The cup funnels the aroma to you as you sip. A touch of leather and a hint of bitter. Unlike some purple buds this has no where near the bitterness of most. It turns to a sweet flavor with a touch of greens on the end. it will give you a touch of the tongue buzz that good shengs will.
Second steeping using same parameters as first. Flavor opens up a little stronger with more of the green and less of the smoke. It still brings the nice tingle and sweetness as in the first, just a bit more pronounced.
I believe this will be one I can drink on for a couple of days as the first set of infusions haven’t opened the buds up all the way. That just means more goodness still inside.
This is on par with the better Purple Bud teas I have had and way better than any big factory one I have had.
Nice relaxing great tasting tea.

Working this one up tonight. Measured 7 grams out to brew. Dry leaf has a musky aroma to it and leaves look nice and whole. Not broken and torn as in many blends. Wet leaf has a touch of citrus on the aroma similar to a Meyer lemon.
First steep 5, 5 and 5 combined to a larger cup. Tea brew is very clean and clear. No cloudiness at all in after going through the strainer.
A little touch of smoke so light in the background that passes to a slight wood and slight bitter that turns into a nice kind of bitter that turns into a semi-ripe apricot type of finish.
it gives a bit of the tip of the tongue “buzz” for 10 to 15 seconds after you sip it.
A warm fruity and musky aroma comes off the cup if you bury your nose in it as I do. I like to savor these things very slow and the experience that comes with it.
Solid sheng and easy to drink without lots of bitterness that come with some of these teas. A bit of Kuwei or slight bitterness comes and goes to a nice sweet finish on this one.
Solid and Solid tea.
I would love to try this 5 years from now to see the development on it. …Someone remind me at that time.
Gong Fu method.

Another sample size I ordered from Yunnan sourcing. I broke out 10 grams to brew tonight. The dry lea has a cedar/pine aroma to it. I gave a quick rinse to open it up a bit and drank the first infusion as it was a bit light due to the quick steep I am starting on the second. It has a nice almost stone-fruit aroma to it. The brew has a bit darker brew than a younger tea. Nice aromatic a touch of bitter that quickly fades to a honey clover type sweet. A little bit of punch to this one probably due to the older tree leaf. Nice aromatic a little hit of the bitter that dances around for a second and then goes sweet. Being close to Jingmai but without the citrus aspect that they bring to the brew. Nice.

This was kindly sent to me by a fellow Steepster that saw it in my wish list.
I got out 9 grams of this in the Gaiwan and gave a 5 second rinse. The wet leaf was a mix of asparagus and green beans with a little snow pea in there. It brewed up very light almost like a white tea with a very pale green to it. This is juicy, slightly bitter and a kind of caramel hit with a little smoke touch in there. it has a very nice aroma to it and is very easy to drink. After a failure with another tea earlier today this has been a welcome cup. It goes on the shopping list for sure. A very nice blend of teas.

After reading the vendor description I think I am ready to go. I picked off 9 grams and broke out the Yixing for this one. dry leaf looks nice and there is no “heavy” compression on this one which means it will age faster. A 5 second rinse and an almost damp hay aroma to it. First steep 10 seconds and it brews a nice darker yellow brew. It has a bit of an edge to it without being too harsh. It has a light floral semi-sweet note that coats the mouth and tongue with some viscosity to it. It does bring for a sweet honey plum note at the end. I still think it has room to grow but should turn out well.

I was graciously gifted with this tea recently from her.
The pack I opened contained 10 grams which is perfect for my brewing as this is the usual amount I brew in.
This sample was from a brick and I broke it up a bit more and it came apart in a sheet just like the other bricks I have. I gave this a double rinse and let it set in the Yixing for about 10 minutes to open up. I did a 15 second steep and away I went.
It has a nice golden color that teas of this age should exhibit.
It has a bit of smoke in the aroma and taste that gets erased by a bit of woodiness and a touch of bitter on the side of the tongue. It puts a touch of numb briefly on the sides of the tongue and and turns into a nice “steamed” vegetable taste with a touch of astringency briefly and a lingering tastes that activates the saliva on the sides of your tongue. It has some bits of floral in the aftertaste and a sweetness that comes in a bit later.
A gentle calm comes in as I finish this first session with this tea.

Ordered a sample of this to try on my last order.
I broke out 11 grams for the Gaiwan. Went with a 5 second rinse to wake up the leaf . It is flora land aromatic after the rinse. Did 3 quick 5 second steeps for the big mug for this one. Color is a bit lighter than I expected, more like the color of a newer tea. Avery thick tea with a decent shot of bitterness.
Quite potent with hints of pepper , wood camphor and a bit of the saltiness that some shengs can give.
It really opened me up to some deep breathing about halfway through the cup. Nice Huigan on this one. Tongue tingle goes a bit after drinking this one for a while. Some hints of apple in this one also. Very nice tea.

One rinse with 10 grams in the Gaiwan. A spicy green aroma to this one.
First steep, actually 3 short ones for the cup. Brewed aroma wood and steamed vegetables.
First sip pretty stout with some tongue tingling going on. Pine and citrus seem to come to mind on this one. Very nice lively mouth-feel on this one. A nice little hit of camphor along with the other flavors dancing around. A very complex one to drink but simply enjoyable.

Ordered a sample of this a while back and now I am finally around to it. It has a very nice aroma to the dry leaf when opening the bag. I got 10 grams from it and broke out the Gaiwan.
I gave it a quick 5 second wash and took off with it. The first infusion was a little weak as i probably didn’t let it steep long enough. 5 seconds short. Tried again doing 10 second steeps and it brought out the punch of this one.
It has an almost fruity aroma to the infusion. It has a good bit of bitterness and a thick mouth feel. The bitter fades and leaves the mouth watering a bit with a semi-sweet tongue tingling after taste. Very stout cha qui in this one , it almost leaves the mouth buzzing in response. Good stout leaf in this one.
