It does have a polleny smell when dry. The smell when steeped reminds me somewhat of these honey cookies I make – like cooked honey. The tea base seems to be very light and inoffensive. Smooth. I thought the honey tasted a bit odd. I do sometimes have honey in my tea but it’s usually when I’ve oversteeped it so maybe I just don’t know what to expect. I’m glad I tried a sample, but I probably won’t order it again. Nothing in particular wrong with it, just not to my personal taste.

I had a hard time drinking this on its own so I have started blending this in with a slightly smokier tea….it is yummy!

The package actually says “Peach Apricot Indian Black.” Not sure if that means the tea is an Indian base or what but the leaves are small and curled up in squigglies like the Nilgiri I’ve had has been (and I do lumme some Nilgiri). Smells very, very strongly of peach when dry. I can see some of the dried fruit bits as well.

The tea base isn’t omnipresent but the overall flavor is great. Excellent and strong peach taste and undertones of apricot. Good warm, but as the company notes, tremendous iced. I would think this might be a good gateway tea to serve to people who think they don’t like tea.

Second steep is still good but obviously weaker. Don’t think it will handle more than two steeps. But it is pretty reasonably priced (at least comparable with the other places I get most of my tea). I’d keep this in the cupboard for sure.

This was my first experience with NM Tea Co. Shipping was super fast and I’m pleased with the experience. They are going on the list of companies to do business with again. Thanks to Jubjubs for posting on their shipping deal. I would never have found them otherwise!

I tried this today along with the Sungma Darjeeling from H&S. Figured since I have tons of darjeeling sitting around maybe I should try to figure out what I like best so I can keep just one or two in stock.

The dry leaves smell of dry hay but not as strongly as the Sungma does. There are more green leaves in the Dooteriah. When brewed, this is about the same color and has an aroma similar enough that I can’t say I would be able to tell them apart if I didn’t already know which was which. The flavor of Dooteriah is lighter, a bit more floral, less muscatel.

Between the two, I think I prefer the Sungma though I will enjoy this until it is gone and if it were to go on sale I would probably be sorely tempted to pick some up again. So my experiments must continue until I can actually find some that I won’t be tempted by later… That may not be possible…

The Sungma sounds good, I’ve had my eye on that. ;-)

I’d be happy to share a sample with you. Shoot me a PM if you are interested. ;)

Post-morning jaunt to local farmer’s market, I thought maybe I’d get a pot of this going while I snapped green beans.

Dry, the leaves smell very earthy and slightly smoky. I’m not sure I’m a fan of yunnans – but I was getting my last Harney order up to the free shipping level and this was something new to me.

Liquor is a dark reddish brown, I think you could easily oversteep this and end up with something really, really dark and forbidding.

I taste… earthy notes, dusty hay, a hint of smoke but that may still be in the smell more than the actual taste…The flavor is actually pretty light for my expectations of a black tea. The bulk of the flavor vanishes on the back of the tongue and after the swallow you are left with a bit of earthy notes and a slight tad of astringency.

Not bad, and it will be used up eventually, but this wouldn’t be one I’d turn to over other blacks I have in my stash. I’ll share it at work and see what the other tea person thinks. My mom will probably like it – she’s a fan of slightly smoky teas.

Off to mess with the fresh corn purchase from this morning to get it ready for dinners next week!

As SimplyJenW noted, the tin is beautiful! A keepsake for sure.

The floral notes when opening the tin are very powerful and the grapefruit smell is also very noticeable.

The tea is very much like a Lady Grey but with more citrus and a stronger floral component. If you don’t care for Lady Grey, chances are good that you won’t like this much. Lucky for me, I love Lady Grey. :)

My regret, also like SimplyJenW, is that this is only in sachets. Loose leaf would be great to try so I can portion my own and experiment. I guess I can do that anyway, just have to open the sachets, hm? :)

I didn’t sweeten but it would handle it well, I think.

I am still undecided if I will be adding this to my “always restock when low” list but I would not hesitate to recommend to friends.

The dry leaves smell amazingly malty. I was a tad intimidated to taste it as it didn’t smell like anything that would appeal to my tastebuds. But it is a darjeeling and I’ve been finding more oolongs that I kind of like lately so I had to try!

It brews up very light golden. It seems like it is dry, but then that vanishes and it’s not dry. There is not much malt taste, or if there is, it’s pretty subtle. At any rate, much more subtle than the dry smell would lead one to expect. Even the steeped leaves have a strong malty smell. At least I think that’s how to describe what I’m smelling. Malt and maybe some wet hay? Not a flattering description, I’m sure, but that’s what I can come up with. Definitely a darjeeling, in my mind, though.

Another that I’m glad I picked up and I’ll drink it all eventually, but I probably wouldn’t get it again.

This a dark tea, full and strong. There is a slight hint of sweetness in the background but not much of one in my steep. A slight hint of dryness in the mouth but I may have oversteeped a tad. Stands up well to a bit of raw sugar and it would probably handle milk well if one were so inclined. I probably won’t order it again to keep it in my cupboard, but it was worth the purchase.

I got my mom to part with some more of her stash of this and we’ve gone in together to get a fresh tin as well. :)

This is quite simply, some of the best stuff I have had. I don’t know much about the base teas, but I can taste tea, not just orange. It is blended sublimely and seamlessly. In my mind, the artistry of the blend makes it worth the outrageous cost. And sharing with someone else makes it more do-able as well.

It is calming and subtle and a perfect start to a hectic weekend morning. It’s only a weekend tea for me, though, since I have to use it sparingly to make it last. If it were only a bit cheaper or if you got more in a tin, I’d drink this every single day. A lot. It’s just as good cold.

My sole complaint (other than price) is that I do wish it steeped just a bit better the second time.

Tealeaves

Glad you enjoy our Eros blend, Nicole! If you know you enjoy the tea, I recommend stocking up and purchasing the larger 14 oz tin. It saves you about 25% over the retail tin price, and the airtight, foodsafe tin keeps the tea fresh for over a year.

Nicole

I actually had this for my tea all day today. I got 5 steeps out of 1 1/2 teaspoons of leaves so perhaps I didn’t do it quite right when I steeped for this initial review.

Very clean taste. Tiny, tiny leaves – I used a cloth filter instead of my normal infuser, having learned my lesson from a Pakistani tea that was equally tiny. Also from that tea I didn’t oversteep this one. It would be easy to do so, though. After it cools a bit I catch a tiny hint of astringency. This would stand up well to milk and would make a good breakfast tea.

Aside from the gas money spent on a 100 mile round trip to the store where I found it, it’s a very reasonably priced tea. I also won’t use as many leaves so the purchase will last longer so all in all, probably a good purchase. I’d keep it around if I could come by it easily. It’s probably pretty decent iced, as well.

This is the only yellow tea I’ve tried.

I like it. I have brewed it several times but am just now getting around to doing a tasting note for it.

It it mild in taste and fruity without being fruity, if that makes any sense. I don’t taste fruit but am reminded of it when drinking this. I love the mouth feel of it – smooth and somehow buttery. It feels almost slick and smooth on my lips after a drink but the brew doesn’t look like it is oily or anything.

it is an unusual tea to me, decently priced, and I’d keep it in my stock.
