1220 Tasting Notes

TTB countdown, only 5 left now I think!

I am keeping this, I feel like I really don’t have any plain sencha. It’s not much, just one of Persimmon Tree’s sample packets but I quite enjoy it. Grassy and sweet, and just right for when I had it…right before noon, more beer cheese soup. I am so full still.

Also I really, really love the color of the brewed tea. It’s almost as if it’s tinged with neon yellow just slightly.

I keep having issues with this tea LOL I made it yesterday to take to class and it smelled so soapy. But then eventually I couldn’t drink it because I guess I didn’t fully get the cinnamon out of the tumbler from when I made hot cinnamon spice. Meh.

So I gave up on it, but I really wanted to taste it, and tried again this morning. The rose is really strong in the aftertaste, it’s kind of interesting. It feels like otherwise you can’t taste it. The ceylon is alright, not the best one I’ve tasted. It’s pretty bitter for my parameters too.

I barely drank any tea yesterday because I had a paper to finish and wow hockey took at least three years off my life, what a game. I also had a growler full of ale I bought to make beer cheese soup. Beer cheese soup only needed 3 oz of beer. I bought 64 so I had to try some.

Now today is back to tea.

This tastes terrible and I am putting it into soil and not back into the traveling tea box. Time has not treated it well.

It tastes like perfume. Not in the floral way but that way when you accidentally spray a fruitier scent into/near your face and you happen to be breathing at the time.

Dinosara

That is a very vivid description. Blech.

drank Earl Grey Cream by Georgia Tea Company
1220 tasting notes

Into the last dozen TTB teas I haven’t had, woooo. The only problem with this is I’m basically just trying each one and sending them back on their way because nothing has been OMG MUST KEEP when I have so many teas….way too many….someone make me stop.

So I thought I’d get vanilla and cream from this especially given an addition of coconut, but eh it’s really light. I actually kind of get more a nuttiness than a creaminess from the coconut. I’m guessing this is because I only did a 3 min steep? I also let it get way too cool…I need to set a second timer for when tea is at my optimal drinking temperature. Jeez.

May try this one again, not sure yet.

I could die right now, I’ve been freaking out that I wasn’t going to get the grade I need to finish macroeconomics, convinced I had to have gotten like a 30 on my exam, I actually got a 78.33, which means I really don’t have to worry. I hope. I still have to worry about a stupid science class because I don’t go to the lab and I’m pretty sure that’s unforgivable but it physically pains me to do busy work.

I should do something about it but blah blah anxiety blah blah hide and don’t do anything welcome to my world.

I was worried about this one because my first and only experience with an Adagio white was reminiscent of a slice of bread coated in dust.

This one isn’t bad at all, I drank some of it hot then wanted to try it cold…not as good cold at all, there is a weird aftertaste to me. Hot, however, is oddly refreshing and works for cucumber, which I wouldn’t really expect. I quite like the Tazo cucumber white, but this one tastes like a floral cucumber at times.

drank Irish Breakfast by Adagio Teas
1220 tasting notes

I’ve been meaning to try an Irish Breakfast so for one to come by way of the TTB was perfect! And this one seems pretty well liked…I did find it first by searching “Irish Breakfast” so that’s something.

I do have a lot of black tea blends, so I’m not sure I want to have any more of this than one cup, but it being Assam and Ceylon also makes me want to reconsider.

Steeped it up and added milk, because I just need something with a bit more body to it right now…isn’t it supposed to be spring?

It’s not bad, I’ve had better blends. It’s a pretty hearty mix, but surprisingly sweet. I assumed an Irish Breakfast would have a bit more oomfph to it, I imagine them to be more of a CTC type and this isn’t at all. When I don’t have a ton of tea I’ll try some others. For now, this will move along in the tea box because of that.

drank Vanilla Cream by Green Hill Tea
1220 tasting notes

Thanks for this sample, ToiToi! 1 cup of tea samples always make me feel really good when removing from my spreadsheets muahaha

So I ended up getting distracted from this but it was actually still really good cold. Like a creamy vanilla custard balanced with black tea. It’s just sweet enough, I wonder if you sweeten it, if that would become more like ice cream? I like it how it is though.

The jasmine petals in here aren’t just to look pretty, I think they add just a hint of floral flavor to the tea. Not too strong, but just like a good way to balance everything in here.

drank Strawberry by Lupicia
1220 tasting notes

I guess now I’m getting Lupicia’s newsletter out of nowhere, not complaining but this was waiting for me in my mailbox. The jerkface mail deliverer jammed the Verdant teas of the month sampler into my mailbox. I almost gave up getting it out and writing a not very nice message on the side facing out.

I finished my closet: http://25.media.tumblr.com/0112f8b47cac4a20d472e10ffb72872d/tumblr_mk72xkat8Q1qz5e5oo1_500.jpg Now to finish my bedroom and the rest of the apartment…So I ended up drinking this cold.

It’s okay, I was curious about those Tochotome teas when the email about them came out but I’m really not fond of Lupicia’s strawberry flavoring I think. This one isn’t as chapstick-y as the green tea one; it tastes quite good at first but the aftertaste is kind of odd. I am wondering if that’s the flavoring or a product of steeping it for 3 minutes.

It does just really taste good at first. If only I lived near a Lupicia, that would make me give in to the desire to try the other strawberry tea too.

I will say it at least tastes better than the strawberry jalapeno soda I brought back with me…so painful.

Crowkettle

I can’t believe there is a strawberry jalapeno flavoured soda. Sounds sketchy but interesting.

drank Jasmine Green by Numi Organic Tea
1220 tasting notes

I’m trying to UfYH (look it up, beware the cursing) starting with my closet, and I’ve already been cleaning for 45 minutes and it’ll probably take at least another half hour. And then I’ll have a ton of clothes to put in my dresser instead of the floor in there. But oh well, gotta start somewhere. Already have 2 bags and 2 boxes of stuff to take to Goodwill.

I just drove back home too by the way, which was quite…odd. All of a sudden traffic stopped and I called my dad to see if the 511 website had the …511, as the phone call did nothing. He said it said animal in road. So immediately I’m like oh god I don’t want to see this. But finally I got past it and five cops were over with…a horse and a cow.

Sebastian the parakeet now chirps on his car rides which I guess is a good thing for entertaining himself for 2+ hours since we always hit traffic.

So, I’m too lazy for loose leaf right now and I pulled this from the sampler box. It’s your standard jasmine green. Really, there is nothing that remarkable about it, but it’s not terrible. It’s not like drinking perfume.

It seemed pretty light in flavor overall though.

drank Silver Buds Yabao by Verdant Tea
1220 tasting notes

Eight Treasures Yabao is probably my favorite Verdant blend so when Terri HarpLady sent me some of the yabao, I was excited, why did it take me this long to get to it? Ha.

Immediately after being hit with water, these buds smell like hay, almost exactly like a white tea, and sweet marshmallows, with just a little mint. I did two rinses and I’m steeping for five seconds.

First steep: still got that mintiness and a bit of other spice, but with sweetness. It also tastes a bit like a hint of sparkling water was added to the cup.

I ended up steeping this about 6 times before I got bored with it, I still have it in the infuser so I may save it for tomorrow. It continues to be sweet and sort of marshmallowy, with a hint of pine.
