1104 Tasting Notes
A well meaning coworker got me a cute little 6 sachet tin of this for Christmas. I am SO picky about earl grey and lavender usually tastes soapy to me :(
It wasn’t as bad as I expected, but definitely not something I enjoy.
The tin is really kind of cool though, it reminds me of one of those old cigarette cases. If I can get the scent out of it I may reuse the tin for on the go tea stash, since it would fit nicely in my purse.
As I was rushing out the door for work this morning, I was rifling through my swap samples and grabbed this tea. The handwritten package I have says “2003 Changtia Yu Nian Shu tuo” so I assumed it was going to be shou! LOL
Luckily I didn’t have my heart set on shou this morning, and this turned out to be a very nice sheng! Super smooth and almost creamy tasting. Not much in the way of bitterness or astringency going on. Somewhat sweet, too. I’m not really getting any florals or smokiness. Tasty!
Merry Christmas Steepsterites!
also…this is my 1,000th tasting note!!!!!!! throws confetti
I was torn on what tea to review for number 1,000 so I decided to cheat and not really make it a tasting note exactly. Right now I am sipping some delicious rice shou and later on I will drink more of the 2014 Damn Fine Holiday blend. If I have time I will try my sample of Carol from Lupicia that CameronB sent me :)
We are heading out of town to visit inlaws soon so most of my tea has to be portable!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season
Got a sample sachet from the lovely miss CameronB :)
The liquor smells amazing! Beautiful flowers but not perfumey. Reminds me of something I’ve smelled before but can’t put my finger on. Anyway, it doesn’t taste like much. Doesn’t taste bad or anything, but I just don’t taste much at all. Very mild floral I guess. shrug
Got this in the mail yesterday and drank it. Sorry I didn’t take detailed notes at the time, but since I have a full tin I am sure I will write a more detailed note in the future!
Anyway, for now though, it was really delicious and malty. Very smooth, and not as bold as some of the other Damn Fine teas. If you are a fan of Andrews and Dunham I am sure you will enjoy this one!
