This tea is ridiculously good. I got a sample with my birthday order before the tea was named. I drank one cup plain a week or so ago and hoarded the other half of the sample till today, and I am drinking this cup lightly sweetened. To me the espresso manifests itself as just a richer deeper chocolate flavor. (kind of like a cake recipe I tried once with a tiny bit of espresso powder added, doesn’t taste like coffee, just richer chocolate! Don’t be scared, coffee haters!) The strawberry and chocolate seem very well balanced and with sugar the cake-vibe is definitely enhanced, though it was rich and creamy and VERY delicious even without. I love the assertive assam base. This is one of the best chocolate+fruit teas ever! Really great stuff. Can’t rave about it enough!

sounds like one more for my Butiki list. :)

Stephanie

I’m definitely getting more!

Cheri

I’m definitely getting more of this one, too!

One of my favorites! This tea always makes me happy. So seductive and aromatic. One of my favorite teas of all time, for sure. I get aromas of aloeswood and exotic flowers. Tastes a little sweet and dark and tangy. So, so good.

Marzipan

Seductive tea rawr!

I’m declaring today Drink Whatever Makes Me Happiest Day.

So I started my day with this made with raw milk :)

I am out of milk. I need to stop and get some on my way home because I’ve been craving a matcha latte all week. (Yes, I’ve been out of milk for a week now.)

Stephanie

I never think to buy it, but my husband gets it and if it is there I will totally drink some :)

Have an awesome “DWMMH” tea day Stephanie ;-)

Thursday is usually my SMGTF day at Starbucks. I was over ruled. Bagged tea at Steak & Shake instead. Glad one of us had a DWMMH day.

I drank this tea this morning, but then was pretty swamped at work and didn’t get to write about it until just now. Lots of coworkers on vacation right now, we don’t actually have more work to do, just less artists!

Anyway, thanks so much boychik for the sample. This was DELICIOUS though I do not remember details. Very very nice though!

boychik

Yay, another good offering fr YS. Glad you like it:)

Thanks for the sample Marzipan

Well, this isn’t offensive in any way, but it is pretty flat and boring compared to all the delicious Yunnan Sourcing and Butiki black teas I’ve been drinking lately! I’m pretty spoiled ;)

boychik

Tin is pretty though

This is really wonderful flavored oolong! Thanks so much Marzipan for the sample.

I love fruity oolongs iced in the summer. I made a cup at lunch hot poured over ice, and will likely cold brew the rest of my sample in a big pitcher :D

The raspberry flavor is nice and natural and the oolong seems high quality with a slight floral overtone.

DELICIOUS! Like TGY crossed with Laoshan green.

Thank you so much inranger for the sample :)

I’ve yet to try this one, glad you enjoyed it. :)

Sounds like an interesting cross of teas.

This is a mysterious looking little wiry black tea. Quite magical when steeped! Rich and satisfying and complex enough to keep my interest. Chocolatey, malty, and fruity sweet!

Great stuff. I’m going to hoard the rest of the sample boychik sent me. Thanks!!

Edited to state that I’m REALLY loving the lingering aftertaste of this tea….mmmmm!

boychik

I love YS blacks. Great quality and price. Happy to share ;)

Terri HarpLady

I have to chime in on YS teas! This is one of the teas I recently shared with the BBBBox. I bought it because the name was similar to Verdant’s Anxi Fo Shou black, & although they aren’t really similar, this is an interesting & tasty tea in its own right!

Another lovely tea from the slew of samples from TeaUrchin I got for my birthday. This is a different flavor profile than I am used to from sheng. It is quite bold and full of “darker” notes. It is kinda smokey and earthy as well as somewhat mushroomy and woody. Not exactly delicious tasting but not offputting either. Perhaps it’ll be one of those “feel good” shengs…we’ll see :)

mrmopar

Definitely dark and “Earthy”. It tastes much older my guess would be it remained in loose maocha as they said before pressing.
