drank Xi Kong 2014 Spring by Tea Urchin

Thank you for the sample Phi!

I’ve never had a sheng quite like this. Extremely floral, with notes of hay and honey and sunshine. The florals are different than the florals I get from other young sheng. I picture the flowers in my head and they are blue and purple instead of white and yellow. (I know that is a little odd.) Pretty thick liquor too. Not quite sweet, but not bitter either. An enigma! Very tasty. Totally up my alley and I want to drink more but not for this price.

I like that one too. It’s one of my favorites from their 2014 line, along with the Gaoshan Zhai.

This is pretty good! Thanks for the swap sample Liquid Proust

Do you like roasted teas? This seems to be one of the better ones that I have tried so far… I’m trying to work on some myself, but Japanese roasted tea has one strong flavor

Yes I do like flavored roasty houjicha from Lupicia. Their milk caramel is another one I’ve had and really enjoyed.

I’m not actually drinking this tea currently as I only have one serving left and I am HOARDING IT! On that note I would like to ask if anyone has tried any teas that are NOT sold out that taste similar to this one :)

The following tea from Yunnan Sourcing is very good. Not sure how it compares but it’s good.

Cool Alan I think I have some of that one on the way!

This one is still extremely unique and tasty!

This is so good…why do I keep falling in love with samples of $100+ cakes I can’t afford :(

Terri HarpLady

That is our way :)

+1 for expensive tastes :P

One day you will afford it, though, right?? :D

If it happens like last time KiwiDelight, they will sell out before I save up. The Guafengzai I was in love with is out of stock weeps for GFZ

it is just learning experience. i cannot drink only pu i can afford.

Hmmm, Christmas bonus?

Maybe I shouldn’t try to rationalize.

This is a very fine tea!

Agreed, love the $$$ stuff as well!

I can find cheap shou that is delicious, but I oh do I love expensive young sheng!

Let’s buy this cake! =D

I DO think I want to put together a group order!

I’ve not yet had the pleasure of tasting Tea Urchin pu’erh. What about this sheng made you fall in love with it?

LooseTman they will make you a set of samples for $30 if you shoot them an email! That’s how I got addicted :) This particular one I really like for its complexity and pleasant bitterness. It also has a wonderful energy. I just feel good when I drink it! My favorite cake from them that is not sold out is the Miles Birthday blend, I’d really really like to get a couple of people to go in on a cake of THAT one with me! :D

Yeah, I HAVE to get more of that Miles cake before it sells out…I need at least one other person to go in on it with me though :(

If you really liked their 2012 Guafengzhai, they’re supposedly pressing a Guafengzhai cake this year again.. Should be 200g. Maybe more affordable?

Doug F

This was one of my favorites too, along with the Lao Man E

Thanks for the tip jschergen!

Doug F I have a sample of that, too, I should revisit it soon :)

I got a sample of this in a swap with Liquid Proust. As with other Lao Cang minis I am very impressed! This makes me want to just throw away the jasmine sheng minis I got from Teavivre…they are so tempermental and can get bitter. This one is not! SO SWEET!

I finished my sample of this Ost sent me AGES ago this afternoon. It is still quite tasty! Really hit the spot today :)

Yum! Rich and earthy shou! Very creamy and clean tasting too. Slightly sweet. This is a shou anyone could enjoy I think.

Thanks again to the good folks Crimson Lotus for letting me taste your teas! They were all extremely enjoyable.

Graphic artist, printmaker, lover of tea.

I love pretty much every type of tea camellia sinensis can produce. I like herbal teas sometimes but I can’t stand rooibos. I’m recently becoming a puerh addict.

Butiki, Verdant, Mandala, TeaVivre, Yunnan Sourcing, TeaUrchin, White2Tea and Den’s are my favorite online retailers so far.
