487 Tasting Notes
This tea smells AMAZING. I’m a big genmaicha fan. I’ve tried a few flavored genmaicha blends from 52Teas, including marshmallow treat and s’mores. I think I prefer this one from Nina’s! The addition of black tea seems to make the blend richer, and I love the toasty caramel flavor! This is the kind of tea I tend to prefer with a little sweetener. Do be careful not to over brew this one, I think I did and it is a tad bit astringent!
Thanks again for the samples, Laurent :)
Another sample tea from Nina’s! Yay, thanks Laurent :)
This is an extremely clean tasting spearmint gunpowder green. Just enough mint to be cooling and satisfying but not overwhelming. I’m not normally a big fan of spearmint (I tend to prefer peppermint) but this tastes so clean and natural. The spearmint is really good in it! This is perfect after the spicy Indian food I had for lunch. I imagine it would be wonderful iced, too. I didn’t add sugar or anything but this tea tastes nice and sweet. It re-steeped really well too, and was even sweeter the 2nd time around!
Thank you Laurent for sending me samples to try!
This is a SOLID earl grey if you are looking for a good one. The black base is bold, but smooth and not astringent. The bergamot is adequately citrusy but not bitter. I am drinking it straight but I imagine it would take cream and sugar very well. Another well balanced blend from Nina’s!
Sip down :(
I would be running out to buy more of this, but my husband is going to make me some crushed roasted barley next time he’s prepping grains to make beer, which will be a lot cheaper.
I am addicted to this stuff though! Highly recommended :)
I like to use my little Kyusu on the weekends when I actually have time! Still enjoying this tea quite a bit. Considering how much cheaper it is than Shincha, it is quite a delicious bargain!
I picked up 3 teas at The Spice and Tea Exchange on vacation last week. Decided to ice this one up…oh man is it good! The green teas are of decent quality, and the mallow flavor really comes through. I do not get a ton of strawberry flavor from this one, but what I do get is relatively natural and not at all fakey like some flavored teas. I am looking forward to trying my other 2 selections from the Spice and Tea Exchange! :D
Finally tasting the last of my birthday green tea samples from Butiki! If I didn’t know what kind of tea I was drinking, I would assume this one is a type of black tea, based on the earthy malty flavor. But it doesn’t end there! There is a sweet, bright floral or fruity note to this tea as well, especially the more my cup cools. Very complex and multi-layered. I’m glad I got to try it. Thanks Stacy!
I’m looking forward to re-steeping it a few times as I work today. It is no fun to be stuck at work on the Friday after a holiday! This tea is nice and energizing though, and the boss brought us donuts :)
I picked this one up at the Bottom of the Cup tea room in the French Quarter in New Orleans. I’m pretty sure that this is the same blend, though Metropolitan Tea Company was never mentioned, heh. The cherry flavor was a little strong when I drank this hot this morning, but the big pitcher I made of it iced this afternoon really hit the spot! I suspect the same will be true of the three flavored blends I picked up at the Spice and Tea Exchange. I will say that the packaging at the Spice and Tea exchange is a lot more attractive and professional looking. They use 1 oz ziplock bags with pretty labels. This one was in a sealed cheaper looking bag with a cheapo looking label. The teas inside are similar in quality though :)
The hotel I stayed at on my trip served this one as my complimentary breakfast beverage when I requested hot tea. Honestly the packaging thrilled me more than the tea itself. The little pyramid shaped bag was in a tiny single serving box the same shape as the bag. The shape was nice because it sits flat on the bottom of the tea cup, and the little bendy tag with the leaf on the end was really adorable! Not bad for free hotel tea I guess shrug I added sugar and a squeeze of lemon.
I’m back! Drinking an all time favorite at work today, but I did buy four new teas on my trip to New Orleans that I’m sure I’ll be tasting and writing notes on very soon! :) I got one from The Bottom of the Cup http://steepster.com/places/2178-bottom-of-the-cup-tea-room-new-orleans-louisiana and 3 from the spice and tea exchange http://www.spiceandtea.com/louisiana-new-orleans-french-quarter-ezp-43.html
