Oops I posted this review in the wrong spot originally…

Thanks to Nicholas at Misty Peak Teas for providing a sample of this tea!

This is an extremely SMOOTH and SWEET sheng! Yet still very lively and bright tasting. Extremely yummy. I wish I could afford a whole cake :)

Thank you Garret for including a sample of this with my recent order :)

Wow this is a nice green oolong! It has a sweet greenness that reminds me a bit of sencha, and a lovely floral (lilac?) aftertaste. Not as sweet or creamy as milk oolong but special and charming in its own way. I’m really digging the floral element and mineral notes!

Preparation
1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML
Garret

Super happy that you are enjoying this one! I can’t remember if you have tried the Golden Turtle oolong? We source it from the son of the grower who also gets us the Colored Species oolong. It is also a great green oolong. Thanks for writing up your thoughts on it, my friend!!

Stephanie

Yes! I had a sample of the Golden Turtle from Dinosara once and it may have been my first taste of one of your teas! Very good oolong, too :)

I woke up sleepy and starving so I made a hot latte first thing. Very good but I’m getting burnt out on this flavor and its almost all I’ve got left, matcha wise!

I sure have been drinking a lot of puerh lately, huh?

Today I steeped this one at a lower temp for a longer time. I got more creamy nuttiness and less mushroom notes. Yummmmmmm!

Speaking of shu, has anyone encountered this before?? http://04561.com/image/cache/data/20110518/b3-700×700.jpg It’s puerh tea aged inside an orange rind! I’M SO CURIOUS ABOUT IT!

TeaBrat

I have had those orange rind puerhs before, they’re good. Some people put a little bit of the rind in with the tea while steeping.

Stephanie

OMG I WANT ONE! Teavivre has a tangerine one, and I’ve got reward points to use…hmm

Sil

i love those! I’ve had a few now and while the orange isn’t as strong as i want sometimes, i haven’t been disappointed yet :)

mrmopar

Seen and tasted those a lot. If you are searching for a supplier I know a few.

TheTeaFairy

Stephanie, I have a Teavivre tangerine pu’erh sample on the way, I’ve never had any either and I’m very intrigued by it, can’t wait to try!

Stephanie

Awesome The TeaFairy! :)

I made it in to the office this morning despite the snow and ice. Luckily I brought plenty of this tea to warm me up, and some homemade chili for lunch.

Still very much enjoying this tea. It is very comforting, sweet, and malty. Loving it! Perfectly full bodied for a cold and snowy day.

This tea has been comforting me during the ice storm today. Hope all my fellow Midwestern Steepsterites are warm and safe!

I’m going to go build a fire now…seems appropriate :)

Terri HarpLady

As usual, our news people made a big drama over the storm, & we didny really get much in st louis: a thin layer of ice, dusted with a little snow. Of course, it’s cold, 15F, but that’s no biggy. It’s been a nice pj day, with a fire, food, tea, & couch potato mode. :)

Sil

Says you! My flight got cancelled!!!! Grrrrrrr

K S

Indy was calling for a foot of snow. Instead they got a couple inches. Down south, we have maybe an inch of snow over sleet with a thick layer of ice under it. Enjoy the fire.

keychange

You live somewhere where you can build a fire? colour me jealous!!

Terri HarpLady

Tony has a fireplace :)

Suziqzer

I’ right there with you & was waiting on that mega snow of 8-12 inches over the weekend. Got a layer of ice and then about 4 inches of snow. Nothing to slow us down unless it starts blowing and drifting. Gla to have a wood stove and lots of tea samples to try this year. When will this winter mess end? Oh wait.. When it’s over, it’s tornado season!

Stephanie

Ugh, tornado season…can’t wait! :P I had to drive to work this morning in this mess, though schools and such are all closed today.

Thanks for sending this to me Courtney!

So, this is really tasty matcha, but it doesn’t exactly evoke peanut butter flavor. It is creamy and vaguely nutty though, and really good! I made a warm milk latte with 3/4tsp of matcha and about a tsp of honey this morning, and it was so good I had to immediately make another!

In other news, we had an ice storm this morning, so I’m trapped inside all day, and baking my first souffle (a sweet meyer lemon one.)

I’m exited :)

Courtney

I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I should thank Sil for sending such a generous amount to me, so I could share it.

Stephanie

Thanks Sil! Hehe

Sil

Haha NP! The more the Merrier!

drank La Naissance by Fauchon

I’m SO BUMMED! I’ve only got one cup of this left now, since I spilled a little leaf on the floor when I was making a cup just now. pouts

Also I’ve decided I DO prefer this one to Brioche, though they are both very yummy.

Preparation
190 °F / 87 °C 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML
Anna

Nooo! LEAFSPILL! I’m so sorry.

I’m curious about Brioche, but it’s always tricky with those teas that are super talked up and everyone’s favourite.

Stephanie

Yeah, I know what you mean, Anna. I recommend finding someone to send you some in swap so you can check it out. I would offer, but I literally only have one serving left of Brioche AND Naissance. I was trying to choose a favorite. Unfortunately for me, I decided I prefer the one that is a lot harder to get ahold of!

Anna

I think someone is already sending me some, actually, but thank you for being so kind.

Also, I wonder if this is one of those blends that are supplied by Dammann Frères… Have you tried Fleurilège?

Terri HarpLady

I have a sample of this from Sil, waiting to be sampled.

Stephanie

No, I have not tried Fleurilege Anna, but it sounds delicious!

And Terri I can’t wait to hear what you think! If you like soft florals and almonds you will love it :)

Terri HarpLady

Oh…I guess I got the impression that it was suppose to taste like Brioche, lol

Dinosara

Yeah this one will be tough to replace. The only tea that is similar to me is also discontinued (Teavana’s Amandine Rose)… It’s the combo of Rose and almond that is sometimes hard to come across.

Stephanie

It does taste similar to Brioche, but with a hint of floral (rose). Bummed that it is discontinued :(

Thanks to CrowKettle for sending me this tea!

I am enjoying this tea thoroughly, though I am not getting much pumpkin from it. It just tastes like a nice mildly spiced creamy black tea. The winning pumpkin tea IMO is still Butiki’s Pumpkin Milkshake for sure! But I will still easily drink this one, for sure :)

Preparation
190 °F / 87 °C 3 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML
Stephanie

Actually, the main thing from the name of the tea I am getting from it is caramel. Not much pumpkin or cheesecake, but a mildly spicy caramel! Yum!
