1045 Tasting Notes
Starting my morning with an evening in France! heh! Thanks boychik!
There is a lot of juicy apricot going on here. Also as expected, the nice mild base and floral overtones signature to Fauchon. Very enjoyable. I could picture it being a pleasant evening tea. Man, I want to go visit Paris some day! If I ever get to, I’m totally going to the Fauchon store!!!
Thank you SO much Keychange for a sample of this tea.
This is probably my favorite leafhopper tea I’ve tried so far, and possibly one of my favorite black teas of all time. WOWZA! I will be SO tempted to get some of this when I order Hello Sweetie and Lemon French Macaron when they are back in stock!
It’s like black tea had a baby with a belgian waffle :)
Another gift from boychik :D
Well, this one sure is finicky, isn’t it? I tried to drink this one for the first time on Saturday, but since I steeped it at like 190 degrees for 4 minutes, it came out very bitter. I could tell there was some nice natural raspberry flavor in there somewhere, but it just seemed very oversteeped and bitter/sour!
Today I tried again, a 175-180 degree water steep for around 2 mins 30 seconds. MUCH better! I’m getting the signature Fauchon froofy floral vibe now, with some nice raspberry on top. The raspberry lingers at the end of each sip as if I were eating fresh ones! I can’t seem to figure out what this base tea is, but it is not the typical Fauchon mild black base for sure. I’m not getting any almond, as one would expect from a macaron, but as a raspberry only tea it is successful.
In the end, pretty enjoyable but so extremely finicky I’m not surprised at all by the mixed reviews!
I got a sample of this one for free with my recent order of the original Brioche. I’m not going to rate this because I generally do not like this type of herbal, where it’s just a bunch of “flavorings” added to some chunks of nuts and or dried fruit that do not apart any flavoring of their own. (A la David’s Forever Nuts) Slap this flavoring onto some high quality decaf black tea, and we’ll talk ;)
boychik provided me with so many nice teas to try! This week is going to be such a treat :)
I was very intrigued by the notes on this puerh, so I was super pleased it showed up in my samples box. I drank it all day and found it to be extremely clean tasting. So very mild and pleasant. I bet I could trick a non-puerh drinker into liking this one. I don’t even really get an earthy vibe from it. It got sweeter an sweeter as the steeps continued.
