1113 Tasting Notes
Well, this is better than Puerh #2 but nowhere near as good as Puerh #7. It is a rather bold sheng, with a tiny bit of smoke in the first steep, slightly bitter and astringent with some faint fruity notes. Drinkable but not something I’d seek out again by a long shot :)
Thank you Courtney for letting me sample this flavor!
Hmm, I’m not sure about this one. I should have tried it with just milk first, but I combined it with a frozen banana. I’ll have to try it plain next time. There is something artificial tasting to me going on here, but based on all the other reviews maybe I am mistaken…I’ll try it plain soon! As of right now I prefer the regular caramel.
I’m drinking a rose puerh tuocha this morning. It was in one of the Butiki Educational tea boxes, but I forget which one!
It is drinkable, but nothing special for sure. Kind of boring and not much rose flavor but it isn’t revolting or anything like that. shrug
Aww man, still not there? Hmm, well let me know in a week or 2 if they still haven’t showed and I’ll try sending another batch :(
No worries! It’s not been overly long or anything. I am actually just getting excited to try some new teas haha.
Sample sipdown!
I had been hoarding the last of this sample which I got with a Mandala order a while back. This is probably one of my favorite shu puerhs. I’m pretty sure I prefer it to the famous Phatty Cake as well! I will just have to order more eventually.
Happy Mother’s day to all the Steepster moms!!! Hope you have great days :)
Too funny that this review happened just now, my friend! I am drinking the same tea. The loose leaf version. I’m really happy that you enjoy this one. It’s one of my all-time fave loose teas. I’ve been sipping and comparing it to the Temple Stairs blend that I did this year. The Noble Mark, with it’s age, has a slightly more well-rounded flavor, but this Temple Stairs, with a little more aging will most certainly be a rival. I just wrote the description for the Temple Stairs and put it on the site: http://shopmandalatea.com/ripe-pu-er/loose/temple-stairs-ripe-pu-er-2013-loose.html
I can’t remember if I got you some of it on your last order for a sample or not. I hope I did.
Oh boy, I hope that’s a good frowny face :) Pretty excited about it. So much so that I pressed 500 of the 100 gram cakes and 10,000 5gram mini-tuochas. Gonna be one mighty fine mini-tuo. Can hardly wait to get them shipped. They were pressed at the pu’er factory last week Now they just need to finish drying before getting on a boat and headed to us. Then you!
Thanks Marzipan for a sample of this tea!
I have electricity again, YAY! Apparently what we experienced yesterday was a “Macroburst”. They’re kinda scary! We were also pretty lucky. I think we are one of few houses in our neighborhood without some kind of property damage.
So, this tea is pretty good for an herbal. Chocolatey chai is exactly what it tastes like! I still prefer a more bold flavor than most herbals can give me. I might give some of this sample to my mom for Mother’s day tomorrow to see if she likes it. She can’t have caffeine at all but really enjoys tea and anything chocolatey :)
