1064 Tasting Notes
Yay my first Sheng! I’m really glad I ended up liking this cute little cake. The first few steeps were very smokey and woodsy, but still somewhat light tasting compared with shu. The later steeps became less smokey and started to have this CRAZY sweet dried apricot aftertaste that lasts for several minutes after each sip! I get a flavor similar to this from certain oolongs. Anyway, there is also a difficult to describe creamy or nutty element. I look forward to exploring this tea further :)
Mmmmmm Special Dark! I love this tea! I got it in the mail yesterday evening along with my first cake of sheng, which I am really excited to try, but this tea was the one I decided I HAD to have this morning. I prefer to drink it extra strong. I steep 1 tablespoon for a couple of minutes. OH YEAH dark and rich! Like creamy unsweetened cocoa powder but with absolutely no bitterness.

Numi is pretty good for bagged tea, so I grabbed one of these to try. I was surprised to read that this is primarily a green tea, with just a hint of pu-erh! The magnolia is very intriguing! We have magnolias in our yard and I love the scent. The magnolia+green is like a twist on jasmine green, and the pu-erh adds a hint of rich undertone to the whole package. Very nice. I would love to see someone like Verdant or Mandala do a straight pu-erh version of magnolia!
