I picked up 3 teas at The Spice and Tea Exchange on vacation last week. Decided to ice this one up…oh man is it good! The green teas are of decent quality, and the mallow flavor really comes through. I do not get a ton of strawberry flavor from this one, but what I do get is relatively natural and not at all fakey like some flavored teas. I am looking forward to trying my other 2 selections from the Spice and Tea Exchange! :D

Rie

How was vacation, Stephanie? :)

Stephanie

Oh man, it was so great! Thanks for asking :)
We had a ton of really great food, heard some excellent jazz, walked around a lot and everything was so beautiful!

Rie

That sure nicely sounds like the ideal New Orleans of the travel channels. :) Glad you had some good time off!

Chelle

I eyed this one when I stopped by their store in Gatlinburg. Going to have to try it next time.
Glad you had a lovely time!

Finally tasting the last of my birthday green tea samples from Butiki! If I didn’t know what kind of tea I was drinking, I would assume this one is a type of black tea, based on the earthy malty flavor. But it doesn’t end there! There is a sweet, bright floral or fruity note to this tea as well, especially the more my cup cools. Very complex and multi-layered. I’m glad I got to try it. Thanks Stacy!

I’m looking forward to re-steeping it a few times as I work today. It is no fun to be stuck at work on the Friday after a holiday! This tea is nice and energizing though, and the boss brought us donuts :)

Alysha

I have a sample of this on the way too. Sounds quite tasty!

Butiki Teas

This one is a black tea. Glad you are enjoying it! :)

Stephanie

Ohhhh, that explains it! hahaha

Butiki Teas

I must have sneaked it in with your green samples.

Stephanie

It was a nice addition. I enjoyed 3 steeps today! :)

I picked this one up at the Bottom of the Cup tea room in the French Quarter in New Orleans. I’m pretty sure that this is the same blend, though Metropolitan Tea Company was never mentioned, heh. The cherry flavor was a little strong when I drank this hot this morning, but the big pitcher I made of it iced this afternoon really hit the spot! I suspect the same will be true of the three flavored blends I picked up at the Spice and Tea Exchange. I will say that the packaging at the Spice and Tea exchange is a lot more attractive and professional looking. They use 1 oz ziplock bags with pretty labels. This one was in a sealed cheaper looking bag with a cheapo looking label. The teas inside are similar in quality though :)

The hotel I stayed at on my trip served this one as my complimentary breakfast beverage when I requested hot tea. Honestly the packaging thrilled me more than the tea itself. The little pyramid shaped bag was in a tiny single serving box the same shape as the bag. The shape was nice because it sits flat on the bottom of the tea cup, and the little bendy tag with the leaf on the end was really adorable! Not bad for free hotel tea I guess shrug I added sugar and a squeeze of lemon.

Fjellrev

Yeah you can never expect too much out of free hotel tea. :)

I’m back! Drinking an all time favorite at work today, but I did buy four new teas on my trip to New Orleans that I’m sure I’ll be tasting and writing notes on very soon! :) I got one from The Bottom of the Cup http://steepster.com/places/2178-bottom-of-the-cup-tea-room-new-orleans-louisiana and 3 from the spice and tea exchange http://www.spiceandtea.com/louisiana-new-orleans-french-quarter-ezp-43.html

I’m going on vacation in the morning! Driving 9.5 hours to the beach :) I’m brewing up some of this to take in my giant sippy cup iced in the morning. I am going to NEED it! Getting up extra early so we can make it down there for dinner. Anyway, I probably won’t post any notes for the next few days. I have a bunch of baggies of swaps and samples I’m going to try to sip down while we are gone. waves bye Steepster!

Alysha

Have a great trip!

I can’t believe how SWEET this tea is! It tastes like I added honey but I didn’t! Super smooth, too. I almost get some spice notes from it. There is just enough vegetal flavor to satisfy my GREEN craving. Unlike anything I’ve ever tasted before, which is always my favorite! I love discovering new teas :)

Thanks so much for the sample of this one, Stacy. I am definitely putting some of your straight greens on my order list for next time!

This reminds me of Laoshan black, especially the first steep. Tasty, but I guess I am more used to green oolongs, because I am not really getting any “oolongness” out of this one at all. It is possible too that my lower water temps at work are affecting it somehow. I’ll trying drinking this one again another day at proper steeping parameters :)

After a disappointing morning tea, I had to have something I know would be tasty this afternoon. Sure enough, this one is still REALLY GOOD :)

I’ve had a sample of this floating around in my tea drawer since Christmas. Decided I better drink it soon before it goes stale. It is a bit earthy from the puerh and also pretty gingery. Not my fave for sure but it isn’t bad enough for me to dump it out or anything. Meh.
