Hmm, I’m not really sure what to make of this tea. Maybe its because I’m stuck at work on a Saturday and grumpy about it, but I think I’d prefer the Yunnan green jasmine by itself. It isn’t bad or anything, just more complicated than is really necessary, I think!

I don’t think I’ve ever had hibiscus in a black tea blend before! This tea really accomplishes everything it sets out to do…Strawberries? Check. Rhubarb? check! Pie Crust? Sure. The vanilla note really rounds out the “PIE” element. This is very very good stuff! Thanks for the sample, Stacy! :)

I’ve been drinking the heck out of this one lately. So refreshing!

This is one of the more enjoyable straight puerh teas I’ve tried! I’m not a huge puerh lover but occasionally I get a craving for one. This particular one is smooth and not astringent or bitter at all. It is earthy, but not in a dank and mildewy forest floor type of way. It is more of a sunny summer’s day type of earthy. It makes me think of freshly tilled garden, or walking barefoot through the park. I am still on my first steep (I did do an initial rinse, too, which I discarded) but I am getting a note that reminds of a spice that I can’t quite put my finger on. Its like if cinnamon had a hippie cousin or something. Has anyone ever smelled Japanese aloeswood incense? Anyway, sorry this is so abstract. This is just how I have come to think about puerhs! :)

“if cinnamon had a hippy cousin” lol. You could probably turn that into a song!

I had a really challenging day at work today. I drank various steeps of this tea throughout the day, too. Early steeps started out very much like Laoshan Green and transformed into a tasty green oolong with lots of nice sweet mineral notes as the day went on. I enjoyed it very much and I am glad I can taste Laoshan in it! I am a big fan of anything the He family makes apparently :)

Fuzzy_Peachkin

It’s awesome when one tea can last the entire day! :-)

JustJames

this is also one of my faves, a true wonder as to how they accomplish the backwards sweet wash.

Laoshan magic!

I made a pot of this iced last night and tried it with my lunch today. Much better than the cheapo bagged decaf teas I normally drink iced! I’ll have to drink it hot some time and do a more detailed tasting note. I love that it is pesticide free and socially responsible, too! :D

I decided to finish some older samples up today. This is still one of my top 3 faves from Della Terra. Too bad it is unavailable currently. Mostly pineappley with a hint of vanilla and lots of tasty light tea flavor :)

Well, I may have underleafed this tea. I find teas like this with extra large long twisty leaves difficult to measure! Also I’m at work so I know my water temperature was a little lower than it should have been. I will have to explore this tea further with proper steeping parameters! Having said that, I find this to be a very interesting straight black tea. Light and sweet with fruity overtones rather than the dark, roasty/malty blacks that I am accustomed to. I think this tea and I could become good friends but I’m not ready to slap a rating on it yet! :)
