Yum, I knew this would be fab. Thanks boychik!

Can’t really go wrong with a bold Yunnan black, or anything Damn Fine teas has to offer. So good. Seriously, think you want to order something from them? Just go for it.

boychik

Damn Fine!

Well, this is really different. Thanks for sharing boychik :)

I steeped this Western style for about 2 minutes. It DOES have some really strange tongue numbing effects. I’m not getting any bitterness, but it does have a strange under-ripe veggie flavor. The liquor SMELLS really sweet though. There are some complex notes I’m having trouble identifying. I am enjoying this. And the dry leaf is really twisty and fuzzy and pretty. I’ve gotten so many beautiful teas lately, I think I want to do some artsy tea photography this weekend. Doesn’t that sound fun? :)

Cheri

That does sound fun. And I love beautiful teas. I love the look of white teas. I think they’re really pretty to look at the dry tea.

TheTeaFairy

Great idea!! I love taking pictures of tea, it’s so inspiring :-)

Thanks to Angel at TeaVivre for a new batch of samples for review. Always my pleasure :)

This is a wonderful nutty green! Sweet creamy corn and fresh peas. Slight floral/fruity overtones. Light bodied but enough flavor to satisfy. Very nice :)

I’ve been drinking this one all day! Thanks Terri

This has a nice bold tangy, tongue tingling flavor! A little stone fruit notes in the middle steeps. Quite nice! There is some very light smoke aroma, but almost no smokey taste is detectable. The chaqi is really great on this one. I’ve been zipping along all day! Go sheng! heh

Stephanie

I have a tea buzzzzz

My afternoon tea was half Mandala Special Dark with a bagged Traditional Medicinals organic ginger thrown it. Quite a nice combo! Helped with my belly after too much Indian food as well ;)

Good idea Boychik

I had Indian buffet for lunch and ordered a chai with it. Not the best tea ever but it went really nicely with the meal. SO FULL NOW! Buffets are dangerous!

boychik

hehehe, but so good ;)

Terri HarpLady

probably a good time for a nap ;)

Stephanie

Now I am back at work and you’re right Terri, all I want is a nap. Buffet was a BAD PLAN! :P

boychik

You got some mint tea around?

Stephanie

I just dug through my tea desk. No mint…I’ve got straight ginger tea, or some shu. Those are my best bets I think!

boychik

you can even mix them up

Stephanie

Yeah, I think I might try that :)

Butiki Teas

Indian buffets are the best! The hubby and I are meeting some friends out for Dosa night tonight. For $12 you get all you can eat dosas, with 25 varieties. I’m going to be feeling like you soon. Hahaha.

Stephanie

I love Dosas! My husband and I made them once. They were trickier than most Indian dishes :) But so good and thin and crispy once we finally got it right!

TheTeaFairy

Oh you gals made me hungry…now all I can think about is eating Naan bread dipped in Dal!!!

Butiki Teas

Stephanie-Nice! I’ve always wanted to make dosas but they look tricky and we don’t have a great flat grill.

Stephanie

TheTeaFairy I think lentils are my favorite part of Indian food. I love beans and lentils and Indian dishes are the BEST.

Stacy, my husband has a cast iron pizza “stone” (our ceramic ones kept breaking) and it worked perfectly for dosas.

Marzipan

Was it the place by the mall?

Stephanie

Nope, Marzipan that one is no longer a buffet :)

Butiki Teas

Stephanie-That sounds like it would work perfectly.

mrmopar

Buffets are the best way to go in my opinion! Love the choices.

Hmm, I must have screwed this one up. Tastes very bland to me. According to other people’s notes it sounds like maybe I need to try again. Oh well.

Thanks Terri!

boychik

what temps and how long were your steeps?

Stephanie

Probably 180ish and a couple minute long steep. I will try again at home with more controlled parameters!

boychik

i would increase to 200F and shorter steeps

Stephanie

Yeah, you’re totally right.
