I started drinking tea back in college, as I found it to be a nice, calming respite between classes. I started out drinking more flavored and bagged tea, but over the years have embraced unflavored and loose teas. At the moment I am drinking more unflavored, although I go where the mood takes me and like to have a good stash of everything.

I’ve just started getting into pu-erh tea. A recent tea festival near me, as well as the sampler packs from Mandala tea have been really helpful in introducing me to good quality pu-erh. I love both shu and sheng, and will drink them all day.

Aside from tea, I enjoy reading, trying out new places to eat, traveling, and visiting gardens.

My rating scale is as follows:

100-95: A favorite and a staple. I will always have this on hand.

95-90: Also a favorite. Due to space and money constraints, I may not have this at all times, but will restock often.

89-80: A fantastic tea that I will restock on occasion, perhaps seasonally.

79-70: A great tea that I will drink or order when in the right mood, and will accept when offered.

69-60: I can and will finish this, but won’t order it again.

50 and below: I couldn’t finish this.
