More a restaurant than a tea shop really. My tea wasn’t bad or mind boggling. The food was the same.

Not really about the tea at all. I ordered an ice tea there and it was presweetened so I returned it and said that I had ordered unsweetened ice tea. I was told that all the ice tea was sweetened and it was only a little bit and they would not make an unsweetened ice tea for me. Yuck, I drink tea, unsweetened and a place that advertises that they are a tea shop should be able and willing to accommodate real tea drinkers and their requests.

There are several locations for Teaism… it’s a bit of a local DC chain. One on Connecticut, one on R near Dupont and one on 8th. The best thing about Teaism is the community feel and involvement. I’ve been there for special events, like a tea-related silent auction for charity, and it’s a great location for that. They are friendly and helpful. There’s a little bit of a feel toward a tea version of Starbucks, with an Asian flare. They do have some good food items on the menu. The folks behind the counter are helpful and knowledgeable, though you may not linger too long… it’s a busy place.

Certainly above average as many American tea establishments go, but still lacking in a few departments. I had a Ginger Limeade and a pot of Silver Needle. The quality of the silver needle was pretty ho-hum, but it was brewed properly and tasted fine. The staff was a little spazzed out and there was no wi-fi, which was a bit of a bummer.

Stopped into this place for lunch while touring the area. It was super packed, but enjoyable. They had a nice menu ranging from Chinese to Japanese (bento boxes!) to english type teatime deserts. They had many different types of teas and a tea shop next door. I tried the World Peace tisane. Very Pepperminty!
