Dry nose: lightly minty, fragrant, sweet.

Tasting note: lightly minty, fragrant, sweet. Pretty straightforward, the candy cane sprinkles are fun. I think next time I make this I’m going to garnish it with a candy cane and let that add a bit more minty sweetness. Yeah.

This tea was the comfort tea for me, my daughter, and even my grandson, until it was discontinued. We sweetened it with honey, as a hot tea, and it was very soothing and relaxing. Especially good when we had colds, or it was blizzarding outside, but also good on summer evenings.

I contacted Celestial Seasonings about producing it again, and received a note that they were more focused on health teas. Too bad – I’d love to see this back on the market, even on a seasonal basis. We’d stock up!

I wanted to get a Yixing teapot but got this tumbler instead. It’s pretty (I got the Oolong dragon one), portable and makes a big difference when brewing tea compared to in a non-yixing clay teapot. In this marriage of classic and modern, their love child the Yixing Traveler Tea Tumbler from Teavana is one of a kind and beautiful. I will be getting another one, or two, or three. Yes, it only holds 12oz but most Yixing teapots I’ve seen hold 6oz to 12oz anyway and you don’t have to worry about breaking this one. I love how Teavana have unique items like this tumbler and other great finds like their Alasdair Glass Tea Kettle.

A review of Green Tea Powder by Hamasaen

Company: Hamasaen
Tea Name: Green Tea Powder
Tea Type/Varietal: green
Region: Japan
Steeping Vessel/Amt. Leaf: cup/ 1 teaspoon
Liquor Color: green
Leaf Characteristics:

Steepings

1st Steeping:
Water temperature: 190 Fahrenheit
Time: 30 seconds

I am having a cup of this green powder tea as my morning cup. I fill my wooden teaspoon with the green powder and put this in my cup and adding the freshly boiled water into my cup, I stir the tea vigorously, whisking it until tea powder has completely dissolved. The tea did foam nicely and has a wonderful clean and fresh aroma with a salty-marine scent.

As I sip the tea I find that it is smooth with a salty after taste. The astringency is most light since the saltiness discerns it. I always enjoy having this tea for what it is worth. Overall, this is one tea powder that I continue to purchase and use as part of my morning tea drinking ritual. I mean it is good tea that is all.

drank Chamomile by Teanzo 1856

Teanzo 1856’s Advent Calendar, Day 11
What can I say? Everyone who has ever made a Steepster account has had chamomile at some point in their lives. What I do like about this tea is that it is organic and the size of the flowers are large and in charge. If I am going to have an herbal staple like a chamomile or a peppermint in my cupboard, I do feel better knowing that is organic.

Ah, my first loose leaf. I’ve ignored you for so long, but you’ll always be there for me.
I smelt the leaves today, very cloying which is to be expected as I’ve had it for like 2 years now. Still this is what I think of when I think tea, even if I recognize its not the best.

I accidentally made this with a little more tea than usual and a little too little water… so we’ll see how this goes.

The scent is very pleasant, a touch of sweet peach and a barely-there spice from the ginger. Cannot pick up the black tea’s scent other than as a solidity to the over-all smell.

The taste is very good, and I’m not one to usually like flavored teas. The black tea is not strong, it just holds the complete flavor together. The ginger makes for a vague spiciness along the mid tongue while the peach gives just a hint of balancing fruit tones.

No particular flavor stands out on this, rather they mix and balance very pleasantly. I’m glad the Steeper Select club sent me this as it’s one I wouldn’t have otherwise tried.

drank Hoplite by white2tea

Summary: Smooth sweet dark honey yancha from W2T

Prep: 4-7g, 100cc gaiwan, 190F or boiling. Rinse, 10s, increasing from there for anywhere from 6-12 steeps.
Sessions with this tea: 10?

Taste: Starts off with easy mineral roasty herb or smoke or something (cannabis mentioned by previous reviewer, seems to fit in retrospect). Sweetness is apricot . No bitterness, no astringency. Turns into something inbetween floral and kinda dark honey or caramel flavored and that herby note drops out. Very sweet throughout.

Body: thick body. Sits down low in my abdomen. Mild background energy, not very bright.

A little on the sweet side for me, and probably will not buy again. The thick smooth body is very pleasant though.

This tea was okay, I will be able to more accurately comment on this tea when I haven’t put Nutella in it. I thought it was a really good idea, but not so much… oops!

I reused the same tea pearls 3 times today and only lost a little bit of flavour the third time. A great resilient tea

Wow, this has some low ratings. I’m not really understanding that considering that I’ve now had two cups (one yesterday, made by Peet’s, and one today, made by me) and they have both been reasonably good. The bergamot is on the fruity side, which I always appreciate. I didn’t realize until now that the base tea is Darjeeling, which explains the slightly sweet aftertaste I’m getting out of it. It also does not brew up bitter, which I like. Not bad!

This is an excellent dessert tea, but I wish I got more chocolate and peppermint. I was expecting a peppermint patty but it fell a little flat for my expectation. Otherwise this tea would have received a higher rating from me. I got hit by a craving for chocolate tonight and almost got into my car to get a brownie or a mini cake from Whole Foods or something. But I’m staying good and sipping this down instead. I did lose almost 20 pounds since the new year. I didn’t do any kind of crazy dieting either, I just started working out regularly and making sure I eat healthy.

This is a very good Earl Grey Tea. When you open the tin, the bergamot hits you on the nose. The taste is smooth and mellow with a little more bergamot than Twinings. I use about a 1/2 tsp raw cane sugar and it brings out the bergamot. Its a very tasty brew and I like it a lot. I drink EG tea every day and this one is one of the best I have had.

I do wonder what it is with the ’don’t drink with milk’ warning.
Is it something akin to not feeding the Gremlins after midnight??
Still I have to admit I have wanted to,….wanted to rebel b/c the gently cocoa aroma
does whisper ‘milk would be nice’ to me. But I have been good!! I’ve not sucummb. Probably more b/c I tend to drink this one when I can’t sleep and have had a crap day. And I certainly don’t want to become an evil gremlin on those kind of nights.

This one is gentle lavendar and has a light cocoa flavor. Lovely, and herby and I always end up asleep so perhaps its been doing its job ;)

I’m not usually an Earl Grey fan. This one is nice (not bitter like some). The traditional orange/citrus flavors are there along with a nice black tea component.

Another red fruit tea from Mariage Freres.
The taste reminds me of The à l’Opera.
It’s good flavored tea : the smell is nice and the flavour present, although the tea base isn’t strong enough in my opinion.

This tea is good but I didn’t get the coconut. I got almond and chocolate tastes definitely not a strong coconut one so I kind of forgot the coconut part. It’s more of an aftertaste. At least in this first cup. It smells good, like a chocolate bar.

I snagged a box of this tea after a friend’s Singaporean exchange student housemates left it behind. The variety I have doesn’t seem to be exactly what I found on the company’s website (my kind is called “Mild & Spicy Masala Chai” and has a different box), but hopefully the taste is comparable.

This is a very nice if slightly unusual chai. I was pleasantly surprised when I had my first cup at the delicate, almost fruity aftertaste (I’m sorry if my descriptions are a little imprecise, my taste buds unfortunately don’t communicate in words). This definitely isn’t a spicy/hot chai like many I’ve tried, I think the overriding flavour is actually cardamom rather then a more cinnamon/pepercorn/clove spicy taste (just conjecture, I don’t know that much about the individual chai spices).

Tastes best with some milk and honey for sweetening, although I find the milk isn’t as important in this chai as some others because of the more delicate taste. I haven’t found over-steeping to be a problem (I often carry around a travel mug and just leave the tea bag inside and it never seems to get that bitter aftertaste).

I’ve had Adagio’s dragonwell before but it simple can’t lay a hand on this. This is only my second dragonwell but wow . . . . The smell is like roasted nuts and orchids. The liquor is a nice light yellow and the taste fills the entire mouth and this tea is very creamy. Highly recommended! will be buying more!

This is an extremely pleasant tea especially for drinking at night. I think that this tea has a lot of depth but also a lot of bold flavors. The first couple times tasting this tea it brewed with an abundance of chocolate especially in the front notes. After brewing it at both hotter and cooler temperatures the tea also had a lot of interesting floral notes that were extremely pleasant to explore. This tea to my knowledge is only available for purchase in Madison, Wisconsins because I don’t believe that they have an online store or any other locations. If you are in the area I highly suggest you go to their store, drink some tea and pick some up to take home!

Beautiful tea like a finest perfume. Smells indeed like peony flowers. Perhaps someone could use it for making perfume. I have tried this tea just once from the sample I received from Teavivre, however I was instantly impressed. The taste is gentle, not grassy, and the sweetness stays on a palate for a long time.
A+ for this one!

My first foray with Adagio’s English Breakfast, and I am quite impressed. I’m new to loose leaf tea, but I’ve had many different English breakfast blends from bags.

The loose leaf variant is simply superb, especially compared to its bagged brethren. The taste was very rich and indulging. I let the tea steep for 4 minutes, since that was half way through the 3-5 minutes suggested, and the flavor was fantastic.

The color was rich, and the aroma made me want to drink another cup as soon as I was finished with the first!

So, to update, I did in fact have another cup as soon as I finished my last one. This cup I added a bit of milk and sugar vs the honey that I usually put in my tea. I liked my first cup better. I’m not one for milk in my tea, but I wanted to see if it would make the cup better or worse. I think I’ll be strictly sticking to honey in my black teas in the future.
