I like this tea. It has a subtle chocolatey and spice taste with a little bit of a smoke flavor to it. I bought it to cut down on calories, i drink this instated of hot coco. I only used 1tbs and steep it for 2min as black tea tend to be a little strong and bitter for my taste. The creator of this blend suggest to try it with milk I’m going to that neck time.

Not the best. It’s better iced though, I’m sure.

I drink peppermint tea mainly for the health benefits (very stomach-soothing), and I’m picky about the taste since some peppermint flavors are too bitter/strong (like Altoids). This one is a nice moderate peppermint tea, and manages to be strong without being overwhelming or too bitter. It also seems like a great bedtime choice, as I felt pretty sleepy after drinking it.

The NecessiTeas’ Lemon Chiffon is a real treat. I’d heard really good things about it, but for me, lemon must taste real, or it just doesn’t work for me. So on a 90 degree summer day, I made a pitcher of this delicious smelling tea over ice. The best way to describe my first taste was a quality iced tea… flavored with Lemonheads candies! No kidding. Took me back to my childhood. (But don’t worry, it’s not sweet and sticky.)

This Lemon Chiffon has a clean, crisp flavor that is refreshing on the tongue. Even after you finish, you are left with a light, lingering freshness. The lemongrass and other natural flavors do not fight the tea base of green rooibos, rather, they complement each other wonderfully. I found this tea to be an outstanding hot weather thirst quencher.

But the real bonus with this pleasing blend is the way it smells! It is a slightly creamy natural lemon flavor with the tiniest hint of sweetness, imparting a soothing, lovely aroma. The best way to describe it is that this tea is what sunshine should smell like!

I was given this tea a while back from a friend. There is apparently some kind of diet tea system through this brand. Although I have no idea about that, I do like the teas that she gave me – some better than others. This tea has a pretty good flavor, but the water was not hot enough. I used about 150 degree water, which is much too low for this tea. I steeped it at 3 minutes. The flavor was still there – not a strong peach flavor, which is good. I definitely need to raise the water temperature and steep for 2-3 minutes.

This is one of the items I was given from my MiL’s tea shelf in her panty. I don’t know how long she had had this one, though the canister was still sealed.

Its ok I guess. Smells nice while steeping. Tastes ok. Nothing bad about it exactly, but nothing in it that says, hey I want to drink more of this one.

Day #5 of the 12 Days of Christmas 2013. Thanks to Momo-this was the perfect fit and the neatest looking tea I think I received. The mulberries were so pretty as well as the look of the tea in general. This may sound strange, but it Looked so good, I couldn’t wait to drink it. The taste was just as good as the look and aroma. This is my third DavidsTea and I am starting to see similarities in the natural flavoring added to some-can’t wait to try more.

I got this tea in “The Republic of Tea Experience Sampler Cube”. I’ve been drinking mostly teas with strong mint and/or licorice flavors, so this one was a bit different. It is flavorful but mild at the same time. It has a very soothing aroma and flavor. While I prefer Republic of Tea’s “Get Some ZZZ’s” tea for a bedtime tea, this one was nice too. I could see myself buying more, if the right mood struck me.

Day 9 of the 2016 advent calendar! Ah yes, the classic Forever Nuts, I’ve never actually bought any of this tea on its own because its so common in sets that I’ve somehow gotten over 50 g of it anyways. Smelling this tea never gets old though because it really does smell just like an apple crumble, it’s amazing.

Steeped, this tea has a rose color from the beetroot, and smells heavenly. Based on my experience with this tea, it does benefit from a longer steep time for a stronger flavor. I would highly recommend it because the flavor is delicious, its like a warm dessert in a cup.

Overall, if you’re getting into more ‘fun’ teas, this is a good place to start. Or if you’re just looking for something desserty, honestly. I can see why this tea is in David’s top 3.

I gave this tea a fair chance, steeping it at a variety of different temperatures for different lengths of time, but it’s just not for me. The cake itself is ‘pretty’ and easy to break apart. However, It doesn’t have much flavor, zero complexity, and has bitter undertones. The tea itself is very picky even for a white. I found that the ‘best’ it got was @ 175 F for two minutes; it produced a strong golden colored liquor and only slight bitterness. The taste itself is sweet, sugarcane, with bitter afternotes. I find myself passing it over for other teas (most of which were cheaper). Overall, overpriced and unenjoyable – I find it a struggle to drink a full cup of this.

First time with this tea in a while, so smooth and delicious, sweet and toasty, rich and mellow. Mmmmm. Bulk brewed up a bunch of it for my thermos to enjoy over the next few hours.

Shocked to realize I didn’t post a review of this one before. I liked the sample enough to buy several packages, and I’m well on my way through the lot of it. It’s a toasty oolong without any deep roasted bitterness, a little spicy, a little fruity, and a lot delicious: thick mouthfeel, and wonderful quality holding well in the thermos, or for quick infusion after infusion gongfu cha. I can pack the leaves in pretty aggressively and it all stays lovely.

The scent is sweetly vegetal with notes of cooked carrots and roasted nuts and is thoroughly pleasant.

However, the tea’s flavor is much sharper and brighter than the aroma would purport creating an interesting though slightly off-putting contrast.

. . . not very complex, yet fresh and deceptively delicious in its duplicity. Tricky, indeed . . .

I have recently found that using less leaf cuts the sharpness and allows a honeysuckle flavor to come through.

I opened up my tin of this again, after leaving it alone for a few weeks, and was greeted with the vivid roasted aroma with chocolate undertones. The aroma of the steeped tea is more subtle, but the roasted smell is still very prominent. The first infusion is rather dark, comparable to a black tea, but the taste is much subtler. There are nutty and chocolatey notes flavors present, which have really aged well, and produce a very smooth flavor with a hint of sweetness. The aftertaste of the tea is also really interesting, as it merely leaves a kind of tingling on the back of the tongue which is rather pleasant.

The only thing that I have to complain about is that it looks like a heavily-roasted Wuyi Oolong, and the taste is remarkably similar to a Wuyi Oolong, so I find myself comparing it to my Da Hong Pao, which is a bit unfair. Regardless, it is a rather nice tea, and I think it will enjoy it for quite a while.

The later infusions were interesting, especially how the sweetness that began to assert its self complemented the nutty flavors, and yet it didn’t affect the smoothness of the tea. As much as I hate to say it, this tea once again draws a comparison to Wuyi Oolongs, but it matches up better than some of the cheaper fares from that region. I got 6 infusions out of this tea, which is really a testament to how heavily roasted it was.

Anyway, the executive summary is that it’s a good tea, very smooth, nutty flavors, and something to look forward to drinking again.

Nope. Nope. Blasphemy. Whole lot of hot nope in a cup.

If you know me, you know very well I firmly believe Teavana is Satan incarnate. Firstly, Senchas are some of my most precious and favorite teas, and I know very well, they can be difficult and quite tedious to make, and have quite the learning curve. But, for some reason, I don’t feel that Teavanas employees receive any training or gain any basic fundamental knowledge on tea. (When going into the store once I asked if they had any Pu’erh, and they asked is that a brand, and that isn’t a type of tea that exists.)

So regardless of my bias, this tea was terribly terribly made, (they asked if I wanted milk or honey in the tea, and I probably looked at the poor cashier like she asked if I wanted to buy drugs) and the quality of the leaves was nothing but subpar. The brew was too soupy, burnt, and tasted like it had been sitting in that tin for over a year, all the flavor had vanished and all that was left in my cup was the shell of it’s former self. I have had this actually at least twice, trying to give it another chance, but it generally tastes like this each time. The flavor isn’t there, it just tastes astringent. The water was far too hot for a japanese green, and there was far too much tea used. This tea was also brewed for probably at least two and a half minutes…. Do I need say more? I have a feeling that Teavana, adds flavoring to it’s tea as well, even the ones that seem to be just pure tea and aren’t a blend, to try and improve the falvor. Gyokuro is generally a very buttery, flowery umami sencha, this is something different. It tastes like tea powder from a bag of lipton tea.

Overall, don’t try this tea, and please don’t purchase from Teavana. I have plenty of reasons why, and really I only need one reason, and one reason alone why they are the devil.

That reason is: Oprah Chai
